WELCOME It is an absolute privilege and pleasure to be announcing my first season of shows as General Manager at Milton Keynes Theatre. I hope to meet many of you at the theatre over the coming months. Summer is on its way and the musicals on offer are certainly hot, hot, hot! There is a brand-new production of one of the most loved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music, Brian Conley is America’s greatest showman in Barnum and everyone’s favourite ogre takes to the stage in the West End smash hit, Shrek The Musical. Aficionados of the Oscar-winning film will be charmed by the heart-warming Chichester Festival Theatre production of The King’s Speech, starring Jason Donovan. But, if you prefer your drama served chilled, suspense-stirred and with a pinch of intrigue, you won’t want to miss the stage adaption of Peter James’ Dead Simple or the Agatha Christie classic And Then There Were None. You can make your visit to Milton Keynes Theatre even more memorable with one of our experience packages, which are available when booking over the phone, at the box office or online. My favourite? The Red Label, giving you access to the sumptuous surroundings of our exclusive Ambassador Lounge plus savoury nibbles and a welcome drink.

Immerse yourself in Cathy and Heathcliff’s turbulent love affair as the ‘BEST DANCE ACTORS IN THE WORLD’ (DANCE EUROPE) capture the spirit of Wuthering Heights and the untamed beauty of the Yorkshire Moors. Passionate and obsessive, Cathy and Heathcliff’s love is as unruly and dangerous as the Moors that surround them. As children they are inseparable, but over time their childish affection deepens into an overwhelming and devastating love. Emily Brontë’s romantic masterpiece is performed to live music by Golden Globe and Academy Award-nominated Claude-Michel Schönberg (Les Misérables, Miss Saigon and Northern Ballet’s Cleopatra) with choreography by David Nixon OBE. A treasured classic re-imagined. A timeless ballet for a modern audience.

‘A MASTERFUL PIECE OF STORYTELLING. PACKED WITH WARMTH AND HUMOUR’ STAGE REVIEW
BY DAVID SEIDLER DIRECTED BY ROXANA SILBERT
JASON DONOVAN AS LIONEL LOGUE AND RAYMOND COULTHARD AS KING GEORGE VI WITH
A prestigious co-production between Chichester Festival Theatre and Birmingham Repertory Theatre starring Jason Donovan (Festen, Sweeney Todd) as Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue and Raymond Coulthard (Mr Selfridge, Hotel Babylon) as King George VI. As the world stands on the brink of war, Edward VIII sparks controversy with his love for married socialite, Wallis Simpson. As his position becomes increasingly untenable, his brother Bertie, who has previously shied away from the public eye because of a terrible stammer, is thrust in to the spotlight as his likely successor. With the support of his wife Elizabeth (the much-loved future Queen Mother), Bertie meets maverick speech therapist and failed actor, Lionel Logue, at an office in Harley Street. Together they embark on an unlikely journey to prepare Bertie to lead his country as King George VI. The King’s Speech is the true and heart-warming story of one man’s struggle to overcome his personal affliction and, in his country’s darkest hour, deliver the now iconic speech broadcast across the globe to inspire his people. We follow the legendary showman’s life as he lit up the world with colour, warmth and the excitement of his imagination and finally teamed up with J A Bailey to create Barnum and Bailey’s Circus Greatest Show on Earth.

Direct From Three Years In The West End
Monty Python’s Spamalot
gallops back out on tour to bring the West End production to theatres across the land (to the sound of banging coconut shells). Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is a kind-of-new musical with a book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score for the new production (well, almost), created by Eric Idle and John du Prez. The latest tour, which is directed by Christopher Luscombe, follows hot on the heels of the can’t–believe-how-successful-it-was Monty Python Reunion at The O2 and Eric Idle’s acclaimed performance of Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life at the 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony - the world sang along, and Spamalot audiences get the opportunity to do so too! During the run, there have been 21 onstage moustache incidents, three suspected cases of swine flu (French pigs!), three outbreaks of nits and 92 pairs of coconuts.

TIM RICE & ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S LEGENDARY MUSICAL Jesus Christ Superstar exploded onto the musical scene in 1971 - stunning audiences and changing the face of musical theatre forever. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus through an extraordinary, groundbreaking score. As compelling today as it was at its inception over forty years ago, Jesus Christ Superstar has some of musical theatre’s most legendary songs from I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Everything’s Alright and Gethsemane through to, of course, Superstar. Leading performer Glenn Carter returns as Jesus, a role he has played in the West End, on Broadway and on film. Musical theatre star Tim Rogers, whose theatre credits include Carousel, Whistle Down the Wind, Jersey Boys and the title role in Jekyll & Hyde at the Union Theatre, plays Judas Iscariot, while X Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji stars as Mary Magdalene direct from the UK and European tour of Thriller Live. Produced by Bill Kenwright and the creative team behind numerous blockbuster musicals, Jesus Christ Superstar tells the world’s oldest story with the superb theatricality they have brought to Evita, Joseph, Cabaret, Blood Brothers, Whistle Down the Wind, Starlight Express and many more.

HIS MUSIC DEFINED AN ERA...
...HIS STORY STUNNED THE WORLD
It’s been seventy years since Glenn Miller disappeared as he flew to Paris to entertain the troops during WWII. Did he crash? Was he shot down? Will the mystery ever be solved? Brought to stage for the first time in a new musical spectacular, is the life, fame and vanishing of America’s most famous big band leader, whose music defined an era and story stunned the world. Music legend Tommy Steele, Britain’s first Rock ’n’ Roll icon who became our greatest ever song and dance man, commands the stage as only a great star can in this extraordinary tale, accompanied by a live Glenn Miller Orchestra and a full supporting company of singers, dancers and actors. Tommy’s legendary career boasts countless hit singles, Hollywood movies and award-winning stage musicals including Half a Sixpence and Singin’ in the Rain, and his celebrated role as Scrooge in Bill Kenwright’s spectacular festive musical which played twice at the London Palladium.
