BEHIND THE CURTAIN

TRY SOMETHING NEW

Emma Brack – Theatre Administrator

Drama returns to NWT in 2018 with the John Steinbeck classic Of Mice and Men, from Selladoor Productions. Directed by Guy Unsworth with design by David Woodhead, the cast is yet to be announced.

This year’s fabulous pantomime is Jack and the Beanstalk, starring Olivier Award-winner, Clive Rowe and panto first-timer, Pub Landlord, Al Murray! Dancing into Spring we have Brendan Cole’s new show All Night Long, Anton and Erin in Broadway to Hollywood and Vincent and Flavia’s Tango Moderno as well as former Strictly winner, Tom Chambers, in the comedy musical Crazy For You.

AS PART OF MY JOB... “I once had to pose as one of the baby seals in the McVities chocolate digestive nibbles ad filmed at the New Wimbledon Theatre. It was so the director could work out how to frame the shot before the CGI seals were dropped in later.” MY FAVOURITE SHOW IS... “Cabaret because I got to play Sally Bowles once at college.” MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY WOULD BE CALLED... “Bear with... For no apparent raisin.”

A thrilling new production of the most iconic and powerful story in American literature. Set in the trying times of the Great Depression, Of Mice And Men is a powerful portrait of the American spirit and a heartbreaking testament to the bonds of friendship and what it means to be human. This landmark play by the Nobel Prize winner, John Steinbeck, is the story of George and Lennie, two migrant ranch workers who dream of owning their own ranch. Still painfully relevant to modern times, this is a moving story about trying to hold on to your dreams and friendships during difficult times. From the producers of Avenue Q, The Crucible, American Idiot and Flashdance comes this American classic for all time.

When Stella sets off to visit London with her parents, Lord and Lady Saxby, she has no idea her life is in danger! Waking up three months later, only her Aunt Alberta can tell Stella what has happened. But not everything Alberta tells her turns out to be true and Stella quickly discovers she’s in for the fight of her life against her very own Awful Auntie! From the award-winning West End producers of Gangsta Granny comes the world premiere of David Walliams’ amazing tale of frights, fights and friendship, featuring a very large owl, a very small ghost and a very Awful Auntie!

New Adventures return with Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella – a thrilling love story set in London during the Second World War. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the Blitz.
