Glyndebourne returns to The Regent Theatre with life-affirming, world-class opera…
Donizetti L’elisir d’amore Set in an idyllic vision of a southern Italian village square, Annabel Arden’s staging of L’elisir d’amore distils the essence of Donizetti’s most intoxicating comedy into a vintage blend of sparkling high spirits and heart-warming sentiment. Two rising stars bring the young lovers to life: tenor Christopher Tiesi makes his Glyndebourne debut as Nemorino and appears opposite soprano Eliana Pretorian as Adina.

‘JAW-DROPPINGLY AMAZING’ Manchester Evening News
Direct from the West End, the smash-hit musical Ghost comes to Stoke-On-Trent in January. Based on the phenomenal Oscar-winning movie that captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation back in the 90s, Ghost is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, trying to communicate with girlfriend Molly through a phoney psychic in the hope of saving her from his murderer. Adapted for the stage by Bruce Joel Rubin from his own Oscarwinning screenplay for the film, the amazing special effects and dazzling staging are by the multi award-winning Paul Kieve (Inner Magic Circle member) and Tony Award-winner Matthew Warchus. With a score by rock legends and Grammy award winners, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson and Alanis Morrisette), and featuring the unforgettable Unchained Melody, Ghost is a rollercoaster ride of romance and comedy with dazzling state-of-the-art staging.

A quintessential English country estate is thrown into chaos following the murder of eccentric inventor Sir Claud Amory and the theft of his new earth-shattering formula. Arriving at the estate just moments too late, one man immediately senses a potent brew of despair, treachery and deception amid the estate’s occupants. That man is Hercule Poirot. In the first play ever written by Agatha Christie, we are introduced to a character who went on to become the most famous detective of all time and the only fictional character ever to receive a full-page obituary in the New York Times. Robert Powell is one of the country’s most loved actors. Having received multiple awards and a BAFTA nomination for his portrayal of Jesus in Franco Zefferelli’s Jesus of Nazareth, he went on to star in the hit BBC TV comedy The Detectives. His extensive stage performances include roles in the national tours of Alan Bennett’s Single Spies and Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell before most recently appearing in Singin’ in the Rain at the Palace Theatre in the West End.
