southport’s biggest family panto ever! Imagine Theatre are back following the huge success of their production of Sleeping Beauty last year. Once again the show will be written by the BAFTA Award winning team of Iain Lauchlan and Will Brenton with a fantastic cast headed up by some of Southport’s most famous residents. Heartbeat’s David Lonsdale is donning a dress to play the glamorous laundry owner Widow Twankey and the popular Radio City presenter Claire Simmo is playing the magical Spirit of the Ring. They are joined by former Coronation Street star Scott Wright as the deliciously devilish Abanazar alongside ex-Brookside actress Ann Marie Davies as So Shi. In addition Laura Robson is back by popular demand to play the title role of Aladdin, having made her Southport panto debut as Prince Valiant last year. Come and see if Aladdin, a poor Chinese boy, can win the heart of the beautiful princess! With a law decreeing that the princess can only marry a prince, and the evil Abanazar up to no good, it looks as though Aladdin’s dream may never come true. And he’s not the only one! Aladdin’s mum Widow Twankey, has got the mixed-up Chinese laundry blues; her other son Wishee Washee is being particularly unhelpful; and they’re also very poor. If only Aladdin could make his fortune and then all their dreams could come true.
