Skip’s Club Theatre Royal Brighton is over 200 years old and Skip’s family have lived here for a very long time! Skip’s great, great, great grandfather was brought to Theatre Royal Brighton in the pocket of Jack, a young boy from the local workhouse who came to see the pantomime in 1888. The little mouse was captivated by the excitement of the theatre and decided that this was where he wanted to stay. He slipped out of Jack’s pocket and made his home amongst the costumes and props backstage. Jack was sorry that his pet mouse had escaped, but was happy that he was in such a beautiful place full of red velvet and gold – very different to the grey, cold bricks of the workhouse! Through the years Skip’s relatives have lived happily alongside the many different actors, staff and audiences at Theatre Royal Brighton. They have seen many famous stars on the stage as well as visits from royalty and occasional sightings of the Theatre ghost! They have passed on their stories to Skip, who can’t wait to introduce you to Theatre Royal Brighton and tell you about its secrets.
