About Advanced Academy Advanced Academy is designed around Trend Vision, a global collection that changes every year. We do this by breaking the weeks down into four categories: cutting, color, styling, and editorial. This enables all participants to actively immerse themselves into the world of hair design. Four trends are explored and broken down each with their own unique properties and characteristics. All students who apply themselves to this month will undoubtedly come out skilled and confident with a sharp understanding of how to use trend to keep current with industry standards. Advanced Academy is designed to challenge and strengthen the skills of each participant. It is about using technical abilities in creative and practical application. Advanced Academy is a must for any student that is passionate, creative and wants to take their education to a higher level. Salons are extremely selective in who they hire. It is crucial to take advantage of every possible educational opportunity in order to be prepared to enter this extremely diverse and competitive industry. Bellus Academy is committed to providing each of you with the highest level of education possible. It is the key in producing the top 10% in our industry. Diego Raviglione | Artistic Director

Diego has been a Hair Designer and Educator for over 26 years. His key role as Artistic Director for Bellus Academy has led him to his development of S.T.A.R. Precision Haircutting System with fellow Master Educator Nick Berardi. “The S.T.A.R. Precision Haircutting System is going to revolutionize the way haircutting is being taught in schools, not only in its delivery but also in its ability to grow a stylist from novice to master cutter,” - Diego Raviglione As well as being Bellus Academy’s Artistic Director, Diego is also a Wella Top Stylist and travels the globe doing hair shows and collections. His work has been published in countless magazines including Elle, Oprah, In-Style, Cosmopolitan, as well as trade publications such as American Salon, Launchpad, Behind the Chair and Modern Salon. Diego also leads Advanced Academy, externship student program and provides advanced inspiration-based design workshops for industry professionals. From mastery of technique, creation of new editorial collections, development of academies, international hair shows and in-salon education, Diego never settles for mediocrity and is a true inspiration for others.


Bryden Mugleston Asst. Artistic Director &

Advanced Cutting Week | Advanced Academy After graduating from Cosmetology school, Bryden built and coowned a salon in San Diego, Ca. Years later, Bryden’s foundation in cutting and coloring hair lead him to Bellus Academy. Since joining the Bellus team Bryden has gone from cutting and color educator, to Floor Manager, and now Assistant Artistic Director, a title that has lead him to the key role of Advanced Academy coordinator and cutting educator. Bryden’s passion, expertise, unlimited creativity and dedication for teaching the technical fundamentals of hair cutting is evident in all of his classes. “The academy is designed to take the fundamentals of technique and transfer them into creative application. Creative cutting gives a hair cutter the opportunity to take basic shape and technique and use them in ways that are artistically endless. It is my goal to make sure that every student leaves advanced academy with the knowledge needed to fully comprehend there craft. This knowledge combined with inspiration will enable each participant to exercise their own creativity with precision and purpose on the canvas of hair.“ ~ Bryden Mugleston


Carrera Bailey

Color Week Advanced Academy Educator After graduating from the Vidal Sassoon School of Cosmetology in Santa Monica, CA, Carrera went on to become a Color Specialist in the Vidal Sassoon salons, working in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Miami, Costa Mesa, and in San Francisco, where she served as Color Director. Carrera’s exception skills as a color educator in the Sassoon salons and education centers, led her to become a member of the prestigious Sassoon show team, Carrera was named for Best Color and Highlights in the City in 7x7’s annual “Best of San Francisco” issue 2005. Carrera is currently working with Bellus Academy, as Lead Colorist. This is a critical role that includes developing all color programs, training and evaluating instructors. She also teaches creative color in Advanced Academy. Carrera believes that continued education on every level is the key to success in this industry. Carrera’s passion for teaching, combined with her unsurpassed artistic and technical skills enabled her to be chosen for the Wella Design Team. This is a highly prestigious position by the world’s leading color company. This position allows Carrera to train stylists on an international level at hair shows and salons and training seminars.


Jessica Bertheau

Styling Week Advanced Academy Educator Jessica Bertheau has been a hairstylist for over 10 years. Specializing in up dos and dress work, Jessica has a tremendous passion for styling hair, and is a highly sought after editorial stylist. Fashion shows, nationwide presentations and hair shows are just a few of the events that Jessica participates in. She is a San Diego native who loves her chosen life’s path. Styling week teaches the fundamentals of hairstyling from proper blow drying techniques to intricate, high fashion styles. Wella Trend Vision is the inspiration. Utilizing each of the four trends, students will learn how to create a cohesive prêt a porter look incorporating styling, color and cut.

William Williams

Editorial Week Advanced Academy Instructor In 23 years, William Williams has gone from sweeping the floors to styling hair for the runway shows in New York, Paris and London. William’s work has been seen in top magazines such as W Magazine, Vogue and Flaunt, to name a few. His celebrity clientele includes Heidi Klum, Tina Fey, Kiera Knightly and many more. Having spent most of his career based in New York City’s East Village, William has returned to his native San Diego to open a photo studio in San Diego. He is currently signed with The Rex Agency in Los Angeles and is creating a teaching program to introduce new artists to the fashion industry.
