the substation, london conversion of existing warehouse into 9 flats 2020-2021

Residential Block proposed works + responsibilities/ The former electric substation is a solid built brick structure with a utilitarian character and minimal design detailing. The proposal suggests a modest two-storey extension to the rear to maximise the available floorspace and the addition of a second floor for the provision of a penthouse. The architectural language of the proposed building borrows from the details of the existing substation such as the use of orange glazed brick and concrete window detailing while at the same time adding new elements to elevate the building’s presence. Responsibilities included: •

Drafting of technical design, pre-tender, and tender packages for review with project architect and issue to design team members, building control, and contractors

Attendance at design team meetings and coordination of consultants’ information

Investigation of building components and collaboration with suppliers for preparation of technical design.
