CARPENTER ART GARDEN
is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with the children of Binghampton to promote each one's creativity and self-worth through exposure to artistic, educational and vocational programs. We partner with the Binghampton community to develop and implement vibrant programs that cultivate creativity, a love of learning, relationship-building, leadership and neighborhood pride. Since 2012, CAG’s programming has aimed to address critical issues facing the neighborhood.
CAG’s campus is on Carpenter Street on the east side of Binghampton. This location on the main walking path between a large housing development and a neighborhood school places the Art Garden in the direct consciousness of the neighborhood every
day. After-school programs offered at no charge include art classes, sewing lessons, bike rides, mosaic work, a mural program, cooking classes, weekly popup vegetable markets and a teen job hub.
About 40 children and youth rush to the Carpenter
Art Garden after school each day to be with their friends, family, volunteers and staff. Our team includes five neighborhood residents who are catalysts for change, influencing a new generation of leaders to transform their neighborhood. We also have a staff of seven neighborhood teenagers through our teen job hub.
This summer Carpenter Art Garden will celebrate 10 years of success in Binghampton. The team will host an art show in a block party format on the campus on Carpenter Street. Visit carpenterartgarden. org to learn more about the event and follow us on social media to stay up to date.
