From the Founder Celebrating the Amazing Alpharetta Business Community! Last month, Atlanta Best Media had the honor of co-hosting an event with Cambria Gallery at Buckhead. The intent was very simple: To shine a light on and bring together the businesses of our close-knit Buckhead community to share ideas, experiences, successes and support each other as we all move forward. The turnout was tremendous! We had over 100 of our community’s best business owners join us for the celebration! My Buckhead magazine, along with Krys Alex Photography and The Green Room Agency, provided complimentary hair, makeup and photography for professional headshots for the business owners, while Cambria and CR Home provided drinks and light bites from The Iberian Pig. It was truly an amazing event filled with positivity and enthusiasm for our community. It was also evident that everyone there had missed getting together face-to-face over the last year, and we were reminded that in-person events are still the best way for businesses to connect with the community and each other. As the owner of a media company, connecting local businesses with each other and the community is what I love to do. As a former refugee, owner of her own video production company and a mother, she couldn’t be more grateful for where those revelations have led her.
Q: What is your favorite way to give back to
your community?
Tran Bui Smith: In 2010, I looked around and saw all the things my children had in their lives and came up with the idea for a family volunteer group called Little Helpers. I convinced a couple of friends to join me and today we have over 20 chapters across the country.
Q: What do you consider to be your best
accomplishment?
TBS: Professionally, my greatest accomplishment was receiving an Emmy Award for a show titled “Traveling with Tots” that I co-created and hosted. It was a labor of love and the best part was that I got to work with my friends and family. Personally, my nonprofit Little Helpers has changed my life. When I get frustrated or saddened by what goes on in the world, I am reminded that there is still so much good in it that I am literally brought to tears. There are angels on Earth who give their time and hearts so freely. I am constantly inspired by these volunteers. TBS: The biggest thing on my bucket list was finally fulfilled in 2016. I had made so many excuses, but after more than 40 years, I returned to Vietnam. Even though I was only 3 when my family fled during the Fall of Saigon, I had such regret for leaving the rest of our relatives behind. I felt guilty for finding freedom, while they struggled under Communist rule. I thought our language barrier, experiences and differences would prevent us from connecting with one another, but when I came faceto-face with my uncle, aunts and cousins, the love we felt was instant. There was no judgment, guilt or jealousy. The goodbyes were long. It was a trip of discovery. I am forever grateful for my life, but something was missing and I didn’t even know it.
Q: What are some of your favorite places to visit in Alpharetta? TBS: I love Mexican food, so two of my favorite restaurants are Moctezuma Mexican Grill and Rio Balsas Taqueria. I also like going to Curahee Brewing Company and taking walks along the Big Creek Greenway.

I’m excited to announce that we will be bringing back our annual charity polo event for the Wounded Warrior Project!
Q: What inspired you to do this particular kind of charity work? TRG: When I was trying to get pregnant, our dogs literally saved me. My work with veterans is inspired by my father’s service as a lieutenant in Vietnam and watching him live with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Q: How do you maintain the balance between TRG: Learning to achieve and maintain balance in my life is a work in progress. I work hard because I love what I do and want to set the example for our daughter that hard work, dedication and giving back will be rewarded.
Q: What are some of your favorite places in
Alpharetta?
TRG: I have lived in Alpharetta for 17 years now and absolutely adore it. Rumi’s Kitchen is one of my favorite spots, along with CRÚ Food & Wine Bar. I cannot rave enough about Mt. Pisgah Christian School. My daughter Lily and I have been absolutely blown away by it! We also worship at their church with our wonderful church family.

Luxury vinyl floors are topically waterproof, meaning the product itself is waterproof. However, this does not mean that water cannot get under the vinyl via the perimeter of the room, or that water cannot be present under the vinyl (a slab with a high moisture content, a broken pipe in the subfloor, etc.).
The product itself may be waterproof, but in the case of Elisabeth Stubbs standing water or flooding, the luxury vinyl tile (LVT)/ luxury vinyl plank (LVP) will not act as a waterproofing barrier for the subfloor and/or any surrounding structure.
