Tai Chi for health, developed by Dr. Paul Lam, is a slow, gentle form that is designed to help improve balance and many other aspects of health. It is unlike many other forms of Tai Chi in that it is a low impact activity, it is perfect for anyone who wants to keep moving. Everyone can do this form of Tai Chi. It can be done standing, seated, or even lying down. No previous experience is necessary to enjoy and benefit from these sessions. Topiary Therapy: A look into the world of topiary, and how it can be used to create peace Presented by Mike Gibson Wednesday, May 11, 7 p.m., Day Hall In a world full of chaos, we are constantly searching for peace. Mike Gibson will explore how topiary can be the catalyst to bringing more peace in your life and your garden. Self-taught Topiary Artist Mike “Gibby-Siz” Gibson from Youngstown, Ohio creates imaginative, whimsical sculptures out of ordinary bushes that help beautify any space. He was recently seen on HGTV’s reality tv show Clipped, and is currently the Topiary-Artist-in-Residence at the famed Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden. The Philip and Elkin Alston Lecture Series is made possible by the generous support of the Charles Loridans Foundation.

A Year in the Life of a Bird The Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville is home to over 100 different species of birds. Explore the life of one of these throughout a year. Family Fun Day: Science Creation Show The Science Creation Show includes magic tricks, chemical reactions, physical changes, and chemical changes. Kids will learn about forces, matter, air, and pressure. The scientist will make water disappear, vanishing paper, indoor clouds that kids can catch and bubbles that turn into smoke! Intermediate Drawing in Colored Pencil

Orchids for Beginners I

Build on Intro to Drawing in Colored Pencil with the colors of the tropical world. Large drawings emphasize contours and focal points of detail.
