Welcome to the Atlanta Jewish Times’ first Guide to Jewish Atlanta, a glossy contribution to community unity that we intend to make an annual publication for the benefit of the 125,000-plus residents of Jewish Atlanta and the organizations and businesses that serve them.
We believe that the time is right for this guide. Just this spring the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta unveiled the findings of the market study it commissioned of the community in June 2016 on behalf of its partner agencies. It marked the first in-depth effort in a decade to examine who we are and what we need in Jewish Atlanta, and we look at those findings and share Federation President and CEO Eric Robbins’ initial thoughts on what they mean in this guide. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of The Temple, the original Jewish organization and congregation in Atlanta, and this guide offers a glimpse at Jewish Atlanta’s history and some of the people who made it to get us where we are today.
