Beneficiaries

Lift Up Atlanta was originally started in 2011 by Rosalind Garner, to help homeless women and children. It has grown to help all families including homeless and low income families in the metro Atlanta area. They provide basic needs such as clothing, food, household goods, school supplies, toys and educational training such as career workshops and computer training. All goods and services are FREE to those in need. This is indeed a labor of love. Lift Up Atlanta helps all year long. Starting with the warm wear donation drive in January, the summer lunch program Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta

inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold through teaching girls to manage money, deal with peer pressure, critically examine the media, and develop a love of science and math. These programs equip girls to navigate gender, economic and social barriers allowing them to break the cycle of poverty, achieve academic success and become healthy, educated and independent adults. Through intentional and compensatory programs, a financially stable, competent and empowered generation of girls are developed. In the past 40 years Girls Inc. has expanded to serve over 100,000 girls in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties. Taught by trained, full-time youth development professionals, Girls Inc. incorporates mentoring and nurturing relationships into these overarching programmatic goals. Girls Inc. programs are designed to impact girls in the following areas: n  Strong (Healthy Lifestyles): physical development, fit lifestyles, sports, exercise, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, adolescent pregnancy prevention and personal safety n  Smart (Academic Achievement): daily

and the Christmas toy drive. Providing coats, blankets and other warm wear, lunch and toys to families and those in need. Lift Up Atlanta’s programs also include: Bless the Community Closet, Women’s Empowerment Program and the Thanksgiving food drive. All of these programs are made possible through great volunteers and donors. If you would like to be involved and make a difference in our community, please email liftupatlanta@yahoo.com or call 678-245-4622. You can also make a tax-deductible donation on www.liftupatlanta.org.

homework assistance, summer learning loss prevention, supplemental education in the areas of science, math, technology, reading, creative and informational writing n  Bold (Independence): health, money management, leadership, sexuality, goal-setting, careers and life planning and inspiring girls to have the self-determination to succeed. For more information and to volunteer with Girls Inc., visit www.girlsincatl.org.

Every year, we invite organizations focused on helping families to become beneficiaries for Atlanta Parent’s Family Festival. If your organization would like to be a beneficiary for 2018, please contact Sarah at SBergeron@atlantaparent.com Atlanta Parent’s Family Festival
