Grounds For Sculpture
Take a tour of the outdoor 42-acre public sculpture park located in Hamilton, NJ, only 20 minutes from downtown Princeton. Grounds For Sculpture is also a garden and arboretum, featuring paved terraces, pergolas, and courtyards with natural woodlands as well as pond groves of bamboo and two eateries. The region offers three main train stations: Hamilton Station, Princeton Junction Station and Trenton Transit Center.
The Princeton Junction Station offers an easy connection from Newark Airport or NYC (via the Northeast Corridor Line) directly to downtown Princeton. Catch the “Dinky” from the station to arrive just 3 blocks away from downtown Princeton.
Hamilton Train Station also falls along the Northeast Corridor Line and allows easy access to the Princeton suburbs. It is the closest train station to Grounds For Sculpture. Trenton Transit Center easily connects Philadelphia to the Mercer County region via SEPTA or Amtrak lines.

Founded in 1766, this site is still an active place of worship today. The original structure burned down in 1813. After being rebuilt in eight months, it was destroyed again in 1835 when a skyrocket landed on the roof during an Independence Day celebration. DRUMTHWACKET
Sited on land that witnessed the 1777 Princeton Battle for American independence, Drumthwacket owned by the State of New Jersey is the stately home that is today the official residence of the Governor of New Jersey.
MORVEN MUSEUM & GARDEN
This National Historic Landmark has played a role in the history of New Jersey and the nation for more than 200 years. A museum since 2004, Morven’s history is America’s history, the second-floor galleries host changing exhibitions celebrating New Jersey’s cultural heritage.
PRINCETON CEMETERY
Legible gravestones date back to the year 1760 and include those of Aaron Burr, Grover Cleveland, John Witherspoon, Paul Tulane, and
others. On March 18 each year, there is a celebration of Grover Cleveland’s birthday.

STATE PARK
Coming at the end of “The Ten Crucial Days” that saw the wellknown night crossing of the Delaware River and two battles in Trenton, the Battle of Princeton gave Washington his first victory against the British Regulars on the field.
QUAKER MEETING HOUSE
Located near Princeton Battlefield State Park, this was the first house of worship in Princeton (1726). Richard Stockton, one of New Jersey’s signers of the Declaration of Independence, is buried in the small graveyard.

A trip to Princeton isn’t complete without visiting one of the most historical universities. Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America’s fourth college. The College of New Jersey was relocated to Princeton in 1756 and was officially renamed Princeton University in 1896.
UPDIKE FARMSTEAD –HOME OF HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PRINCETON
Take the Historical Society of Princeton’s fabulous guided walking tours, offered every Sunday at 2 p.m. Enjoy a 2-mile, two-hour walk around downtown Princeton and the university campus as you learn about historic sites in the area.
THE 1719 WILLIAM TRENT HOUSE
William Trent built his country estate north of Philadelphia, in New Jersey, at the Falls of the Delaware River about 1719. During the American Revolution, the Trent House was occupied by Hessian forces and
played a prominent role in several battles fought at Trenton during December 1776.
THE DOUGLAS HOUSE
Dating to about 1766, it is one of Trenton’s oldest structures. The Douglas House has had four locations over the past 200+ years, but sits today just a few hundred feet from its original location. It became a landmark during the Revolutionary War, when General George Washington made it his headquarters and held his council of war here prior to the Battle of Assunpink, January 2, 1777.
THE OLD BARRACKS MUSEUM
General Washington crossed the Delaware River and won victory over British and Hessian troops housed in the Old Barracks, marking the turning point of the American Revolution. The Old Barracks are the only remaining colonial barracks in New Jersey.

Yes, some towns are modern and commercial, while others are rural and agricultural. But, they do share a common bond as they all take immense pride in their important role in our region.
PRINCETON
The Borough of Princeton was settled in 1696 and incorporated in 1813. Princeton Township was first settled by Quakers in 1838. In 2013, both of these municipalities consolidated to become the singular Princeton. The town is most famous for Princeton University, founded in 1746. The downtown business district is complete with bistros and charming boutiques, interspersed with popular national stores, and draws shoppers from far and wide.
TRENTON
New Jersey’s capital is a historic city proud of its past and with a bright future. Visit the site of the turning point of the American Revolution and be a part of its revitalization and blooming of new eateries.
EAST WINDSOR
Large expanses of preserved farmland and open space contribute to its country charm. Numerous township parks, including the spectacular 160-acre Etra Lake Park, provide outstanding recreational facilities perfect for families.

The earliest known inhabitants of the area were the Lenni Lenape Indians who hunted and fished along the banks of the Delaware River and the township’s many creeks that transect the land. The township now has many parks that are ideal for hiking, taking an evening stroll, or going for a bike ride with the family.
HAMILTON
Hamilton is home to several public parks and recreational facilities, the nationally acclaimed Grounds For Sculpture — a 42-acre sculpture park — and Sayen Gardens, the site of Hamilton’s annual Azalea Festival. Hamilton also enjoys bustling commercial districts, such as the Hamilton Marketplace and the Shoppes of Hamilton.

Many of the borough’s well-preserved houses have historic connections from the Colonial and Victorian periods. An assortment of downtown shops, restaurants, and convenient strip malls provide numerous choices for shoppers.
HOPEWELL BOROUGH
Hopewell Borough includes historic and scenic landscapes, along with a quaint downtown area with plenty of restaurants. Hopewell Township relives its rich history each Christmas with a reenactment of George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River in 1776. Major employers include Janssen Pharmaceutical, Merrill Lynch, Traprock, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. The township also has many recreational facilities for hiking, walking, and picnicking.
LAWRENCE
Lawrence Township is known for its diversity and historic beauty. The Main Street Historic District, as well as the beautiful architecture and exhibits of the historic houses and churches, will take you back in time. Lawrence is known for the village of Lawrenceville, a national historic landmark, and for the Lawrenceville School, founded in 1810.
PENNINGTON
Dating to 1697, Pennington Borough maintains its historic ambiance today. On Main Street, well-kept houses display plaques engraved with dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. Others, keeping pace with the borough’s lively,
contemporary mood, have been transformed into comfortable coffee shops, restaurants, and specialty shops.
ROBBINSVILLE
Restaurants, retail shopping, the historic town of Windsor, and a winery can all be found in Robbinsville. In addition, the township has various recreational spaces, including the Town Center Lake Gazebo, which hosts a summer concert series. Spend a day with the family at Oasis Family Farm or at shopping centers in the Robbinsville area. Also, immerse yourself and learn about Hindu architecture and culture at BAPS Swaminarayan, a beautiful landmark just 20 minutes from Princeton.
Experience the serenity of a traditional Indian stepped pond, filled with water from India’s 108 holy rivers and those flowing from the fifty states in the US. Watch an informative video at the magnificent Welcome Center, which is designed in 17th century Indian Haveli architecture. Take a self-guided audio tour of the traditionally stone carved mandir. WEST WINDSOR
The township offers countless recreational activities, including four public golf courses, a swimming complex, indoor and outdoor tennis, boating, a senior center with recreational and educational programs, and organized sports for children.
