Atlantic Fellows for Racial Equity is a global network of changemakers building solidarity and action for a more equitable future.
Our work advances leadership, solidarity, ideation, and action to address the systemic challenges of anti-Black racism and white supremacy in three ways:
• Each year, we recruit racial justice leaders from across the world to participate in our Fellowship Experience, a collective journey that sees changemakers deepen their leadership, grapple with the global complexities of race, and unlock their creativity for social change.
• We publish narrative projects–including our literary magazine, Moya, and podcast, Race Beyond Borders–that engage expansive explorations of what it means to be Black in the world today and possibilities for liberation.
• We develop innovation spaces that facilitate experimentation and accelerate transformative work among the thinkers and strategists creating our shared future.
The Fellowship Experience
Our 12-month Fellowship Experience invites changemakers throughout the Black diaspora and the wider world into a collective journey of deepening their leadership, grappling with the global complexities of race, and unlocking their creativity for social change.
As the Experience unfolds, Fellows increasingly crystallise their personal and collective vision for a racially equitable future by developing and honing project ideas. By the end of the journey, Fellows dream and strategise—informed by the possibility of their shared vision and action—to birth the world anew and build the future. change.
Our Senior Fellow Experience
Upon completing the Fellowship, the outgoing cohort of Fellows is invited to join AFRE’s Senior Fellow community.
Our Senior Fellows have access to a variety of resources and support from AFRE for continued learning, connection, including connection with Fellows across other cohorts, and communitybuilding. Ongoing support for funded projects may also continue into the Senior Fellowship.
Our Senior Fellows are also eligible to participate in the global network of Atlantic Fellows, where they build community with other Global Atlantic Fellows
