NEWSLETTER Mars 2011 Secrets We’re used to working with secrets. A designer comes up with a clever idea, and gets in touch with us. Whether he works for a renowned international company, or is starting out in his career, we will do our utmost to fulfil his wishes, with complete confidentiality. That is our secret. Our technical team is a close-knit group of young, hard-working people who, young as they are, have been working for us for years. Their job is to seek out the treasure at the end of the rainbow, sometimes on a quest for the “one true tone” which is the same as in the little sample we have received from the designer! On other days they will brainstorm, on the lookout for something that has never been tried before: ideas take flight, metamorphose, and the result is something weird and wonderful. In short, they think and work like designers. That is our secret. And we are fortunate in having staff who are enormously patient and diligent in following up their ideas. For instance, when ostrich-leg leather is gilded, the adhesive is first applied with extreme care, after which the film is pressed onto the surface at exactly the right temperature. It is not generally known that gilding is only one of dozens of coloured-film finishes available. Tell us about your ideas. We can keep a secret. That’s our secret!
P.S. Our managing director will be popping over to Hong Kong at the end of the month to the MM&T leather show, to present our fishleather along with products from our sister company Lodskinn. If you’re passing, do drop in at our stand, T29 Hall1, and meet Gunnsteinn.
