Comfort and Luxury Why the Audi Q5 won Best Luxury SUV for Families
The 2014 Audi Q5 has been named Best Luxury Compact SUV for families by U.S. News & World Report. The Q5 took the top prize in one of 19 automotive categories that highlight vehicles that make driving for families easier. A variety of factors, including professional auto reviews, safety and reliability ratings and family-friendly features, were evaluated in determining the winners of each category. Additionally, the Audi Q5 topped a consideration list in a recent luxury survey conducted by GfK, the brandconsulting firm. For the first time, the Q5 led all its competitors in both “good opinion” and “would consider buying the vehicle” categories. The Audi Q5 beat the BMW X3, Lexus RX and Mercedes M-Class in each measure. GfK determined results by surveying American luxury consumers who were in the market for a vehicle in the segment from October through November of 2013. Travel in comfort
Luxury Milano leather seats and elegant aluminium inlays come as standard - as does a range of useful equipment such as: a multi-function leather steering wheel, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth interface, a Driver’s Information System with colour display and a high performance ten-speaker stereo system. Cruise control and 3 zone climate control with separate temperature controls for driver and passenger are optional. There are optional extras to make your driving experience just that little bit better; like a climate-controlled cup holder, climate controlled leather seats, Audi Active Lane Assist, Adaptive cruise control with braking guard and a large panoramic glass sunroof. When it comes to performance, the Audi Q5 is a hugely enjoyable, superior drive. A choice of sporty engines and Legendary quattro permanent allwheel drive plus 8-speed multitronic transmission.
Room for everyone
Due to its width and wheelbase of 2.81m, one of the longest in its class, the Audi Q5 offers exceptional head and legroom for five passengers. In addition, there is the option of an adjustable rear bench that enables the rear seats to move forward or back 100mm – allowing flexible cargo capacity and rear leg room when needed.

The luggage compartment has an extremely large 540 litre capacity. And with a load width of 1,050mm between the wheel arches there’s enough space for four suitcases, side by side. A low load height of just 693mm makes loading perfectly easy – even for the heavy stuff.
Split folding rear seats
The Q5 comes with 60:40 split folding rear seats that can easily be unlocked by pulling two levers in the boot. Pre-tensioned with springs, the seats drop automatically onto the seat cushions. When down, the luggage capacity increases, almost threefold, to an enormous 1560 litres.
Additional storage options
You’ll find more storage space underneath the twin luggage compartment floor and a specially designed stretch net that attaches with four fastening rings is available as an option. Additional options include a robust dirt-resistant tray underneath the twin luggage compartment floor and a special luggage compartment package featuring telescopic rods and fastening rings that slide along rails. And if you run out of space inside, there’s always the roof.

And thanks to the cockpit’s ergonomics, your hand falls naturally to the control you need. It all helps to create an instinctive, intuitive and satisfying driving experience.
The Driver’s Information System (DIS) is a large, clear digital display in the centre of the instrument panel. It provides a range of information – from the outside temperature to the estimated range possible with the current amount of fuel. It also comes with a colour display as optional. Drive in comfort with adjustments on the driver’s seat and steering wheel that help you find your perfect driving position. The switches for adjusting the optional electric seats are conveniently located on the side of the seat. They provide intuitive adjustment for seat height, recline and forwards and backwards movement. The available climate-controlled cup holder allows the driver or a passenger to keep cold drinks cool and hot drinks heated. Switches located behind the cup holders can be set to either cold (3°C) or hot (58°C). The panoramic glass sunroof gives the interior a pleasant, light and airy feel. Even when it’s fully open, it’s still possible to enjoy virtually draught-free motoring with low noise levels thanks to an automatic wind deflector. The sunroof comprises a large glass surface which is split into two segments. The front glass segment can be both tilted for ventilation and fully opened electrically. When opened fully, the front glass segment slides backwards over the rear, without any loss of transparency or light levels for passengers in the rear. There’s also an electrically operated and continuously adjustable sun screen. The sunroof operates over the vehicle so there’s no loss of headroom. The Audi Q5 was the best-selling luxury vehicle in Jamaica for 2012.
