Keith Dutch, Managing Director EMEA, Peerless-AV, takes a look at the issues facing support in the commercial sector.

Support products are more important than ever. Installers and end users should be aware that a mount can make or break the viewing experience. A successful LFD or Video Wall installation is safe, easy to view and appealing to the eye—to meet those requirements, it‘s vital to select the right mount. To properly support and protect the display while maximising the overall investment, there are many buying tips to consider, for example: Going large or superslim: Increasing demand for the biggest or slimmest LED and LCD display models means more consideration is required for the choice of mounting solution to be able to safely support the weight capacity of a big heavy screen, or to complement the sleek design of a thin display with a slim to wall profile. Mounts for large displays up to 98in (that are tested to four times the product’s weight capacity) will ensure safe, reliable usage in the real-world.

Mobility: Video wall trolleys are an increasingly popular multipurpose solution for delivering an impactful message across a range of settings, thereby effectively enhancing the ROI of this investment. Able to be used as a static video wall display, the versatility of this solution means that it can also be deployed as a backdrop for events, to deliver a message at a trade show or for large scale presentations. UL safety tested trolleys also give peace of mind with regards to handling and structural reliability during use, transportation and storage.

Serviceability: An additional challenge with installing LFDs and Video Walls is the inconvenience and manpower required for servicing - and the risk of damage when removing and replacing the display from the wall. Choosing a mount with quick-release functionality overcomes this issue, as a single installer can articulate the screen away from the wall by gently pressing on the front of the display. The carriage extension force can be adjusted to compensate for the weight of the display, enabling quick and simple access to the rear of the screen without needing to unmount from the wall.

In the corporate and education sectors, we’re seeing an increased demand for mounting and trolley solutions that support large format interactive displays for collaborative working. 75in tends to be the ‘sweet spot’ for interactive displays since anything bigger tends to be more physically challenging both to work with and to fit in the application space. Our range of flat panel trolleys support LFDs up to 75in (SR560M) and 98in(SR598), combining mobility, appealing design, display height adjustment and a preassembled base for quick assembly. For the Samsung Flip 2 and Microsoft Surface Hub 2S/2S Peerless-AV offers support solutions designed to match the aesthetics of the display and room décor, while providing the ideal viewing position, in landscape or portrait, and concealing cables.

There has also been new development in the desktop space with the introduction of new stands for ultra-wide curved monitors, perfect for home gaming and streaming; as well as security, control room and trade market applications and of course the home office market. Our new 1x2 Freestanding Desktop Stand (LCT650SD) offers a functional and convenient mounting solution for 24in to 49in ultra-wid curved monitors. Designed to allow monitors to be stacked in a 1x2 layout, the mount features a height-adjustable column to provide proper spacing for monitor stacking, maximising the ability to simultaneously view multiple sources.

A common objective in any installation is a clean, and professional finish. Speciality wall mounts with media device storage or in wall boxes are ideal for hospitality and commercial applications, allowing easy access to control equipment whilst concealing all power and AV components from view for a truly clean, clutterfree installation. A new hospitality universal swing out wall mount (HPF665) was recently added to our range of speciality mounts. Folding away tight to the wall, the mount has up to 90° of swing out to the left or right for adaptable in-room viewing options. Wall plate and hinge covers create an aesthetically appealing look.

In commercial world, screens don’t always suit being ‘fixed’
