Nashik : City That Sites More Than 100 Ancient Temples Nashik, is a city located in the north-western part of Maharashtra and is the third largest city in Maharashtra. It is 171km from Mumbai and 210km from Pune. The city is largely popular as the spiritual pilgrimage in India. It is said that Lord Rama made the city his abode during his exile years. So, the city has a big importance among the Hindus. There are more than hundred ancient temples in the city, including Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple, Kalaram Temple, and Dhammagiri.

The city is basically a holy town and there are lots of spiritual values associated with the city. It is among the only four places in the entire world where the Kumbh Mela is held. Each year thousands of devotees and tourists visit the city just to be a part of the Kumbh Mela. This is the reason that the city is also known as the holy pilgrimage city.


The city is basically known for the temple and caves. Trimbakeshwar temple, Saptshurngi Gad, Gondeshwar temple, Bhakti Dham, Mukti Dham, Shree Someshwar temple, Saputara, Chamber Caves, Sita Gumpha, Godavari Ghat, Pandav Caves etc. are to name a few. These all are just a few of the places to visit in Nashik. The city offers a lot besides the temples and caves. With the latest development going around, the city has seen several changes. But, none is affecting the cultural heritage and history of the city. There is a steep rise in the economy of the city in recent years. The city now has plants of all major manufacturers including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Coca Cola, Siemens, CEAT, L&T, Atlas Copco, Bosh India etc. The city is also emerging as the popular BPO and IT destination. Nashik is long known for its table grapes and this is the reason why the city also has world class wineries and is known as the wine capital of India. There are 36 wineries in Nashik, which accounts for more than 30 percent of total wineries produced in Maharashtra. Along with grapes city is also known for onions and tomatoes. The Nashik tourism is yet another booming industry in the city. Although many people don't see the city as tourist place due to some reason or so, but the city actually offers lots of places to visit. The ancient temples are one major attraction of the city. Plus there are caves, waterfalls, water park, Shrine, smarak and more. Additionally there are multiplexes, malls, drama theaters, and other shopping complexes in the city. The city is now the perfect blend of ancient culture and modern lifestyle.


To sum up all, Nashik is one of the best destination to spend holidays. Visit the city with friends or family; the city has something to offer to everyone.
