Here at ATYP, our brand new spaces are a picturesque setting in Sydney’s prestigious Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. Our brand new Rebel Theatre, grand foyer and rehearsal spaces offer versatility to host your next event. Our dynamic venue offers a distinctive flair for your next conference, seminar, ceremony, cocktail gala, or presentation.

Where we are

Located in Pier 2/3 on Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, ATYP’s administration office and The Rebel Theatre sits amongst Australia’s most renowned performing arts companies.

We’re a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride away from Circular Quay and Wynyard Station. You can also catch a bus to and from the City. When travelling by car, there are carparks along Hickson Road and limited street parking.

Our spaces are fully accessible and we have flexible catering options to suit your needs. We are all about creative challenges and welcome the opportunity to tailor our offering to support your unique event.

A grand foyer

One door over from our Pier 2/3 administration office, is our grand foyer that will be sure to impress your guests with its heritage charm, contemporary fittings and million dollar harbour views. Walk onto the grandeur of our reclaimed timber floors that preserves Sydney’s maritime heritage, with contrasting, contemporary brass fittings that brings the heritage wharf building into the 21st century as a glamorous venue.

Our stylish brass bar is perfect to host drinks and refreshments, and a spacious, accessible cloak room to securely store belongings for the ultimate comfort for your guests. The grand foyer has capacity for rigging production-quality lights to curate the perfect ambiance for your event.

Our foyer and balcony is shared with our neighbours and powerhouse arts companies; Australian Chamber Orchestra and Bell Shakespeare.

Another contemporary addition is the shared balcony on the gantry with a breathtaking scenery of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Luna Park, the North Sydney Skyline and glistening water views.

The Rebel Theatre

Named after ATYP alumna, the ever-so-fabulous Rebel Wilson, our illustrious Rebel Theatre is a dynamic yet intimate space that is perfect for your next conference or great idea. The auditorium is fitted in an imperial shade of crimson and seats a crowd just short of 200. The Rebel Theatre is the key to unlock your love of theatre – whether it’s a new love or a fiery desire that continues to burn.

This space is suitable for theatre, conferences, seminars, presentations, award ceremonies, and your biggest dreams!

The Lab

The Lab is our secret haven with a unique, world-class view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and familiar, friendly face, Luna Park! The Lab is the first of our studio spaces you encounter, located on the ground floor of our ATYP office here at Pier 2/3. This is an intimate space that is perfect for collaboration and creativity with the astounding views of Sydney Harbour.

Playback, and is also able to be connected to any form of audio-visual media you desire via the HDMI panel on the wall; we also have glorious lights inside The Lab, with the lighting residing to 4 standard settings (OFF–LOW–MEDIUM–HIGH).

We also offer a standard lighting grid which can be operated with an in-house ATYP technician* on the day of your event, as well as Radio Frequency assistance being available.

The Lab accommodates 20 persons max. The room can be blacked out for viewings with our floor-to-ceiling drapes.

This space is suitable for workshops, teambuilding activities, functions, classes, presentations for intimate crowds, brainstorming bright ideas, and MORE!

Innovation is key in a space like this, with access to; a two-speaker sound system easily operable via bluetooth, or a 3.5mm jack connection; a 65” Samsung TV that operates Digital TV, Theatre

The Popsy

Need a space for your next shindig? Look no further! Located on Level 1 of ATYP’s administration office, you’ll find yourself inside The Popsy. A spacious rehearsal room with all the technical and spatial versatility. This is ESSENTIAL for your next big event! Included with all the AV needs you can dream of and our stunning Juliette balcony just at the doorstep.

For a creative solution – this is the corporate getaway you’ve been waiting for.

Innovation is key in a space like this with access to; a two-speaker sound system easily operable via bluetooth, or a 3.5mm jack connection; a 85” Samsung TV that operates Digital TV, Theatre Playback, and is also able to be connected to any form of audio-visual media you desire via the HDMI panel on the wall; we also have glorious lights inside The Popsy, with the lighting residing to 4 standard settings (OFF–LOW–MEDIUM–HIGH).

We also offer a standard lighting grid which can be operated with an in-house ATYP technician* on the day of your event, as well as Radio Frequency assistance being available.

The Popsy has the capacity of 100 standing guests and 50 seated. The room can be blacked out with our floor-to-ceiling drapes, and has an extraordinarily grand door that opens out to a gorgeous view of the Pier.

This space is suitable for intimate shows, corporate events, rehearsals, brainstorming bright ideas, and MORE!

Dressing Rooms

We have two state-of-the-art dressing rooms that can comfortably hold fourteen individuals in each. Perfect for getting ready for your presentation or seminar. They’re both equipped with mirrors and bright lights that’ll uplift you to step up onto the podium. Feel like an acclaimed speaker at the next TedXSydney, or fulfil your fantasy of getting ready like a glamorous Broadway star.

The Green Room

Laundry and cleaning

Our Green Room is more than just green, it contains everything you’ll need before jumping onto our glorious Rebel Theatre stage. This is a space you can relax, rehearse, and hype yourself up before that big 5 minute call!

Should your event require laundry, we’ve got you covered!

Each dressing room has bathroom/shower facilities, one of which is fully accessible. You’ll have all the space you’ll need (and more) for storage and changing facilities.

Some of the wonderful things you’ll find in our Green Room:

• A smoked cork wall to pin up your event’s runsheet and other info

• General kitchen necessities (microwave, fridge, dishwasher, cutlery & tableware)

• Cleaning products

• A filtered boiling & chilled water tap – our biggest crowd pleaser!

• A TV with Theatre Playback, Digital TV, and playback from other sources via the HDMI option.

We offer an iron, ironing board, washing machine, and dryer, stocked with effective, ecofriendly cleaning products at your convenience. This room also includes signage and extra cleaning equipment. It comes with a heavy duty mop, broom, dustpan, and if required, we can provide a vacuum cleaner.

Our friends at Pier 2/3

Here at Pier 2/3, The Rebel Theatre shares a spacious grand foyer with Bell Shakespeare’s The Seed, the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s The Neilson, and their respective function rooms. The grand foyer welcomes all patrons and appreciators of Sydney’s art scene. Grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour with your guests!

Getting here

ATYP and The Rebel Theatre is a scenic 15 minute walk from Circular Quay or Wynyard Station through the historical streets of Sydney.

The 324 and 325 bus routes stop right outside our door on Hickson Road and it will take you to and from the City, or get the 311 bus through Millers Point.

Public bicycle parking is available just outside our doors and along Pier 2/ 3. Bicycle paths to Hickson Road are serviced from Wynyard, Barangaroo and Circular Quay.

There is limited on-street parking available on Hickson Road. There are car parks serviced by Wilson Parking Bond One and Wilson Parking Barangaroo North on Hickson Road.
