Editorial With the keen assistance and encouragement of Darryl Williams Sensei, WUKO & AD Vice President and Coordinator of Referees, The Bubishi Karate Do Org. was accepted into the World United Karate Organization known as WUKO (www.worldunitedkarate.org) The National Karate Federation of Greece has barred all Okinawan styles from participating in national sanctioned events. Okinawa stylists could not and cannot obtain referee licenses to work at any capacity within the Federation. Being banned from testing for Dan Certification within the Hellenic Karate Federation the Okinawan style teachers cannot obtain a coaching license in order to operate a karate dojo legally. Their students cannot participate in National sanctioned Karate events. Athletes from Shotokan, Shito Ryu, Japanese Goju Ryu and Wado Ryu enjoy all special government privileges. For example, if someone wins a national title, finishes on the top six places in European Championships or on the top eight places in WKF Championships obtain bonus points that are added to university entrance exams. These athletes receive government jobs guaranteeing them a monthly salary. None of these possibilities for the Okinawan practitioners! We do have a great number of karate athletes who practice quietly in complete anonymity… Well, no more! As members of WUKO we can participate and compete even though, the National Karate Federation of Greece will not acknowledge their medals. “The Karate – Kobudo Connection” three-hour seminar was open to the public regardless of style and was free of charge. Ryu Kyu Bo kata fundamentals were discussed and practiced. Everyone studied Shushi no Kun Sho. Jan 22nd

25 martial artists of different styles came together to celebrate Karate Day. The Shotokan group performed Jitte, and the Shorinji Ryu group performed Wanshu. The Nin Jitsu teacher, the TKD teacher and the KRAV MAGA teacher joined the Matsubayashi Ryu group which learned Ananku. Our guest from The United Kingdom performed with the Shotokan guests‌ Oct 22nd
