Welcome to the Beta edition of Pixel Page. Feeling lost in the library?
We don’t want that, so in this edition we’ve given you a Doodlemap to help you be curious, explore and discover our physical space and resources, but if you get lost please talk to one of our friendly members of staff.

We also have a contribution from Academic Support to make you aware of how they can support your study and writing skills. We also highlight the mind-mapping software Inspiration to help you organise your thoughts through the research process and into your writing and creative projects. For film buffs there is a review of the new streaming film resource Kanopy, whilst one of our favourite memes, the Dubstep cat, gets it’s very own mindmap treatment, showing you how the simplest of ideas can lead to a plethora of research. AUB alumni and Librarian Katie Blackford from the Tate gives us an insight into her journey from arts graduate to arts librarian and advice on not being scared of using the Library and its resources. Please enjoy the Beta edition of Pixel Page. If you would like to contribute content we welcome anything that fits within the themes of libraries and research that is helpful to students and members of the AUB community, whether it is a review, a mindmap, an article, a cartoon, a doodle, a sketch or a photograph. Please send submissions and ideas to pixelpage@aub.ac.uk © AUB Library 2016 Except as otherwise permitted under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 this publication may only be reproduced, stored or transmitted in any form or by any means, with the prior permission of the publisher. KANOPY
better than Netflix?
For a broad choice of academic film and an alternative choice to the mainstream, Kanopy is better than Netflix. Kanopy is an online streaming service for students and academics, so the content is better suited for study than what you may find on Netflix. Kanopy also includes a wide range of documentaries that are useful for various subjects, try different keyword searches and see what you can find. (Graphics, Architecture, Consumerism) You can access Kanopy from off campus using your AUB email and password to login. If you enter through the Library website, you will be prompted to login. Going direct to the Kanopy site may cause some problems, but please ask a member of library staff if you need help.

"the most important thing a map shows if we pause to look at it long enough, if we travel upon it widely enough, if we think about it hard enough, is all the things we still do not know" Hall, S. S. (2004). I , Mercator. In: Harmon, K.A. (2004). You are here : personal geographies and other maps of the imagination. New York: Princeton Architectural Press. pp. 15-19.
