one thing is absolutely certain.... 03
BEER IS GOOD 04
and diverse... One of the many reasons the art of craft beer is amazing is because it ecompasses an increasing variety of different flavors and taste profiles. Each beer lies within a spectrum that referes to the process of making of the final product and the overall taste of the finish product. This infographic is a basic chart to break down the simplest of beers into a taste spectrum. *This spectrum is ver y simple and only showcases certain basic beers. There is still alot more to beer but this is a general idea.

Beer contains 4 major ingredients
WATER HOPS BARLEY YEAST
TERMINOLOGY IBU — International Bitters Units Used to descrive how bitter the taste of the beer is. The IBU scale starts at 0 and goes to 2500! For now that is...
ABV
— Alcohol by Volume
Used in percent form to measure the amount of alcohol is that is present in the beer.
LAGER — German: storeroom or warehouse Type of beer that is conditioned at lower temperatures. It may be pale, golden, amber or dark. Tends to have a more fresh and crisp finish.
ALE Historically, the term referred to a drink brewed without hops. Type of beer brewed using a warm fermentation method, resulting in a sweet, full-bodied and fruity taste.
IPA
— India Pale Ale
A hoppy beer style within the broader categor y of pale ale. The first known use of the term “India pale ale” is an advertisement in the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser in 1829. The name and taste came about when shipping beer to India, extra hops were initially added to preser ve the beer during their travels.
ESP
— Extra Special Bitter
ESBs are essentially more aggressive and more balanced Bitters, both in alcohol and hop character, but nothing overpowering. Color range will be similar, though leaning towards the darker end of the scale; dark golds to copper with low carbonation. 10

729 Q St, Lincoln, NE 68508 It began with a dream that we could brew full-flavored beer in the great state of Nebraska. In late 1990, that dream became our state’s first brewpub, Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill. Since then demand for our beer has grown, so we expanded our pub and Empyrean Brewing Company was born. Today we still dream big, even while we handcraft our beers in small, flavor– filled batches. So enjoy an Empyrean beer— the taste of dreams come true.

CERTIFIED EVIL IMPERIAL OAT STOUT Pale and hazy gold with ruby highlights, this ale presents aromas of oak, Cabernet and tart fruit. On the pallet, wheat paired with a tart character present themselves first, followed by a dry oak middle and subtle Cabernet finish. While it’s not red in color – there’s no missing the red-wine taste!

EOS HEFEWEIZEN ALE This medium to full-bodied beer, pale to golden in color, is most accurately described as a Bavarian wheat beer. The aroma and flavor of this unfiltered beer is decidedly fruity and spicy evoking tastes and aromas of cloves, nutmeg or sometimes vanilla with banana-like esters. Somewhat sweeter in style with a barely noticeable tartness.

BRUNETTE NUT BROWN ALE Our version of the classic English-style Brown Ale has a blend of six different malts and a hop schedule that results in a low hop character. The unique malt character brings to mind the taste of a blend of various nuts. Coffee, toffee, caramel tend to come to mind in this excellent session Ale.
