Auctioneer Investment Accelerates growth at Auto Solutions

National Auction House John Pye & Sons Ltd is getting geared up for another prospecous year at Auto Solutions 2K, following its acqusition.

Nottingham-headquartered auction house John Pye & Sons Ltd is looking to further boost its service-offering in the automotive sector following its investment in car dismantlers Auto Solutions 2K.

Auto Solutions, an established East Midlands car dismantling company, specialises in collecting and recycling cars, vans and motorcycles. The acquisition has enabled the auctioneer to extend its vehicle contracts business and offer vehicle recycling where an auction isn’t possible. In addition, Auto Solutions benefits from John Pye’s extensive customer portfolio and unrivalled commercial sales expertise.

Since acquiring the business in 2023, John Pye has focused on improving operations and enhancing the customer experience by investing in the site and launching a new website, complete with online shop and advanced search options.

One of the major initiatives supporting growth and vehicle processing speeds was the implementation of an advanced online inventory system. This has significantly improved efficiency and reduced paperwork, enabling the team to focus on operations and expansion. The firm has also invested in three new staff members and increased its vehicle fleet to increase collection capacity.

Last year, Auto Solutions achieved VRA Certification to enhance its sustainability credentials, whilst General Manager Tony Patsides, also became a board member of the VRA (Vehicle Recycler Association) Committee.

This year, the firm aims to solidify its position as a trusted industry name by investing in its people, infrastructure and machinery while minimising the business’ environmental impact.

Eddisons Appoints New UK Plant and Machinery Sales Director

Eddisons has expanded its plant and machinery division with the appointment of new Director Antony Reed to the firm’s growing asset sales operation across the UK.

Antony joins Leeds-headquartered Eddisons from industrial auctions group Surplex, where he led its British outfit. He also worked previously for industrial machinery specialist Apex Auctions as well as in industrial metalwork and engineering sales.

In his new role he joins Eddisons’ UK-wide plant, machinery and machine tools sales team, who in 2024 sold some 18,000 separate business assets lots, realising over £6.5m in sales. Items going under the hammer range from commercial vehicles and industrial plant and machinery to catering equipment and gaming platforms.

“Economic and environmental factors are fuelling the growth in demand right now to both buy and sell assets,” said Antony. “High interest rates, energy costs and rising rents are spurring businesses to look to surplus equipment as a straightforward way to generate much-needed cash.

“Added to this, there is a shift away from products ending up in landfill or incinerators and causing environmental damage through toxic emission. Instead, a ‘make, use and recycle’ approach is seeing items maintained and reused over a much longer and more sustainable lifecycle, which could involve them changing hands several times.”
