THOUGHTS I HAVE HAD KATE DUFF - POET

YUMPU TEST BOOK

Falling Stars and Jet Streams Why do we wait for falling stars On which to place our dreams When morning skies are a glimmer With shining tails of travelling streams We can choose to wait and study Night skies till we are dead Or wake and get up early And look up then instead For once the dream of flight Was just an impossible fantasy too Now they’re common as daisies And even make it to the moon So I’d rather align my wishes On a fantasy come to pass Then wait around and wonder On the funeral march of stars In the dawn of every morning Is where the pure potential lies Where we can really make a difference If we keep our chins up high Don’t look down or to those around you Just watch a plane as it goes by For if that is heavy metal flying Then all we have to do is try.

Purple flowers blooming In the Jacaranda trees Tell me Spring is over It feels like Summer here Or it does today This year my youngest is leaving school In just 5 days to be exact And I'm not ready Still selfish Not emotionally detached But what is the point of blooming If I hold on too tight The trees display reminds me We can't have it any other way After all It's how the flower leaves the tree And the seasons move along TESTING TESTING

Her mind was slipping Down one step Then two A roll of paper Escaping across the floor But he had loved her too long So he didn't see it Didn't want to Till she could hide it no more By then There were just scraps of who she used to be Scattered too far apart For even his big loving heart To pick them all up And they blew away on the wind Never to be seen again Except in the brief moments When he pressed a kiss to her forehead And her heart noticed him standing there But she was gone again by the time he looked up

Trickle me trickle me Come heed me when I need you Burst from my soul It’s alright Shush Everyone hurts Everyone cries And it is the thing that you need most Which is why I am here To set the tears to falling And show you the beauty of the moon And it will shine Whether you need it or not Like God It is there It is there You’ve been too strong Sit with me here awhile Lean on my shoulder On this stair With the cold rising Beneath And the warm wall behind It’s releasing the heat of the day And you the sorrow And we’ll just look at the moon And cry So the stone Can bleed And the body can heal And gather Strength to go on And one

She didn't want three wishes Or a fairy Or a trip to Neverland She didn't want a Knight in Shining Armour Or any other man She didn't need all that Stuff She just wanted to sit and watch the day pass from dawn to dusk with absolutely no fuss Perhaps a few in a row maybe a week Even longer - a month To think She wanted her head to her self And a pen A notebook full of fresh pages A keyboard to tap Because When you can write your own stories You don't need all that Other Stuff
