Kiesza - 'Giant In My Heart' releasing 11th August
With her no.1 single 'Hideaway' reaching 40million+ plays on youtube, Kiesza returns with a brand new video for the equally infectious ‘Giant In My Heart’ releasin 11th August via Lokal Legend/Virgin EMI. ‘Giant In My Heart’ is an uplifting anthem and a Herculean follow up, with the video taking us to Kiesza’s city of inspiration, New York: a multifaceted landscape that comes alive only at night. Featuring more of the Canadian songstresses signature dance moves, the video encapsulates the spirit of legendary NYC clubs like Body & Soul and Libation, but with a contemporary twist: much like the track itself. Expertly balancing that heart wrenching and ravy balance - Kiesza, like Robyn, can do it. ‘Giant In My Heart’ proves that Kiesza’s as confident expressing her emotions as she is her pumping dance rhythms. Following on from ‘Hideaway’, Kiesza has been relentlessly busy, fronting legendary Italian fashion house FENDI’s COLOURBLOCK eyewear campaign, selling out London’s XOYO and Electrowerkz with her breath-taking and dancefuelled live show, as well as immersing herself in the London dance scene by relocating to the capital’s creative East End.

Tomorrowland Interview with Josh Lasden by Mizz Ruby
Your musical journey began in the neighbours garden! Were you interested in music before this, or did you initially want to follow another path? Well, I have a musically family. My niece is the drummer for Daan, a popular band in Belgium and recently she started her own band Isolde et Les Bens. Next to this, Mátyás, my cousin, is also musically talented and he sang and made the lyrics for the Love At Breakfast song. But music was a common thing in our family, in fact it’s Isolde’s parents who gave me my first drum when I was 4 years old and learn to jam on it. When I turned 13 years, my backyard neighbour was producing and I went along to start drumming on his drumcomputer and from there on a love for electronic music and producing was formed. My old neighbour, Koen, contacted me a couple of weeks ago and we will produce again in the near future. Tell us about your musical style with your releases. The style can range from lounge music towards progressive all with a futuristic vision. We love to make music people will like now and in future. For example, Wavecatcher, is played by Armin van Buuren, Laurent Garnier, Danny Howells and lots of other worldstars around the globe, but this track keeps interesting people when they discover it now. That’s our vision in the whole producing process and also for the label and radioshow, El Futuro. You're a bit of a one man band: producer, journalist, DJ, label manager.. what do you do to relax - if you do relax at all that is? Josh: Not that much time to relax, and really don’t think it’s recommended to relax as dance music in general is a continuously evolving world. Nowadays, people are thinking that I have a new look but actually I didn’t had the time to go to the hairdresser yet. 10
www.AudiationMagazine.com
Tell us about El Futuro and what the label aims to achieve. El Futuro started back in 1998, when I had a resident spot on the Inner Journey radioshow. A techno minded radioshow which was quiet popular back in those days, mostly because the genre techno was popular and many things were happening in our country like I Love Techno, 10DaysOff and Fuse club in Brussels. When playing more house oriented music, the host, Frederic, wanted me to host and produce an own radioshow and that’s how the concept El Futuro was born. From that day, I had this vision, to promote music with a futuristic character. The label or imprint came in 2007 as we were producing loads of futuristic electronic music and we wanted to release those tracks. Most of the production are made with my co-partner Vince, or Synoptic, and occasionally with Dries De Vreeze and Thomas Van Hulle. You recently played at the best Dance music festival in the world, Tomorrowland. What was it like? It’s absolutely a big honor to play on such event. Everything is so well organized, from entering the festival, towards playing there or visiting with friends. It’s really a fairytale wherein you end up. And everyone who’s working there or visiting is kinda sucked into the story. Where ever you look, you see people smiling, glad they can be a part of the adventure and the atmosphere is can be described as ‘luck’. Really, it gives you a lucky feeling to be there on Tomorrowland. For an artist it’s something like heaven, a wonderful place to perform. What is it like to play for a massive crowd and do you prefer it to a smaller audience? Well, every gig or place has it’s specific things that makes every performance great. A massive crowd is fun, but a small club or party gives you more interaction with the audience. What was your impression on the crowd reaction about your set? Mostly, I love when people are having a good time and enjoy their time being there. But sometimes you need to search to bring the perfect beat and create an atmosphere they will remember.
11
You're also playing 10daysoff festival, what are you expecting? Well, it’s the 6th time tonight and unfortunately also the last time. The festival will stop with holding their 20th edition. The event, is rather a 10-days event than a festival, 10 Days Off is legendary in our country. Many international artists and visitors will remember the special vibe the event brings allong. The whole city, Ghent, is having their annual 10 days festivities and 10 Days Off is a part of this huge celebration. They bring quality and innovating electronic music. You can discover new talents, new live bands and hear international worldstars. In 2002 I had the honor to play my first gig there, when the DJ-booth was placed on the balcony. If you know the venue, a historical concert room, you’ll also know this was a brilliant few for the artists. For me personally, nothing beats a first time. So warming up Jon Cutler in 2002 was so intense. Friends and fans do speak of other gigs in 2004, on the Fcommunications night, closing Carl Craig in 2006 and some loved my set after Laurent Garnier in 2007. In 2011 another big honor came with warming up John Digweed and Guy J, artists I really look up to production wise.
Do you prepare your sets before events, or do you decide with what the crowd wants? That depends. For massive events I normally prepare my playlist, looking at the stage I’m playing on and artists I’m sharing the decks with. For small clubs or events, I just let it go, looking at the audience and atmosphere and go from there. What are your favourite tracks? Hoh, well I have lots of fave tracks. Too many to name really. But if I have to pick a track that really influenced me it’s Voodoo Rady by A Guy Called Gerald, also because the history of this track. Thinking about the Manchester scene, Hacienda, Factory Records. If you ever have the change, do watch the ’24 Hour Party People’ movie about the life of Tony Wilson. He was the manager of Factory Records and responsible for bands like Joy Division, later New Order, Happy Monday’s, Stone Roses and so on. There’s a clubscene from Hacienda in that movie, using the Voodoo Ray track. 12
www.AudiationMagazine.com
Who are your musical influences? The Detroit techno and house scene, the UK progressive scene and lots of hip hop. I love the 90’s hip hop music. When asking about productions, I love the music from Maceo Plex, Nick Muir and John Digweed, Tigerskin, Andrea Oliva, Animal Trainer, Oliver Huntemann, Tube & Berger, Solomun and so on. What does music mean to you? Music is life, a way to express yourself and share emotions. What advice do you have for people wanting to get involved in music industry? Follow your passion, never give up and remember where you came from. If success crosses your path, always respect those who gave you the chance to do so and never forget them. At the end, those people will keep you in their hearts and support you. What does the future hold for you? Releasing and producing as many as I or we can. Giving people a good time and enjoy music and be creative. Any plans, events or ideals, Any last words? Thank you for your time, never lose touch with music, keep an eye on your friends and don’t stop raving.

UKG CHRONICLE by Emma & Lynn Sponsored by OMG Energy drinks Oli Oli Oli Oi Oi Oi!!! Feeling very privileged that Mizz Ruby and The Sassy Yank chose us to represent them on behalf of UKG.org, DJ Emma Champion and I went along excited but with slight apprehension, you can never tell what to expect at an event which brings together acts from bygone years, although most if not all are still performing on a regular basis. The atmosphere was friendly and bubbly, a good mixed crowd enjoying old skool garage classics, some may now sound somewhat ‘cheesy’ but still with the ability to make you smile. It was overall a really good night, lots of dancing like no one’s watching, no airs and graces or snobby ill feeling, just everyone attending to have a good time, enjoy memory provoking music and join in with trusted lyrics and chants, imprinted on their brain from way back!!’

Our Critical Ears… Recently I have found going to events or gigs a whole new concept, since promoting, listening and being asked opinions on production of new tracks on a regular basis I hear things differently, I have become highly critical and very aware of clarity of vocals… Will I ever be able to just listen as a listener again?!!! Emma… Garage expert and DJ, a real one, using vinyl, recently messaged me horrified to tell me that at an event the tracks were being played at 140bpm rather than 135bpm… that girl can count fast!!! Lol thanks Lynn! Most of the ground covered by Lynn there, yes we had a good night and some dancing occurred after a Bulmer’s or two. The punters enjoyed the acts and responded to many olly olly olly’s with gusto. For me, Shola Ama’s performance shone above the rest. Ritchie Dan’s 2 tunes lacked a spark. Kie’s constant wardrobe changes were irrelevant. The stage dancers needed direction, wardrobe direction and a kick up the arse. Continuity of announcements were awkward and gaps between sets were excruciatingly long. We left in the middle of Dynamite’s first song as the instant ragga nonsense was not what we came for. All in all a decent concert; and certainly not an embarrassment to the UKG community today. Performers on the night- The Artful Dodger (live dj set), ToddlaT, Sparks and Kie, Sweet Female Attitude, Kele Le Roc, Ms.Dynamite(y), Robbie Craig, Shelley Nelson (performing Something in your eyes), Shola Ama, Special MC, Ritchie Dan.

Three Girl Rhumba Interview by Mizz Ruby Who are Three Girl Rhumba and how did you come together to create the band? Three Girl Rhumba are Tom Thurgood (guitar and lead vocals), James Sefton (bass and vocals) and myself Ian Lee (Drums and vocals). We all went to school in Nottingham and formed a band when we were 16. We played gigs around Nottingham for the next 2 years while we were at Bilborough College. After college we all went our separate ways with work and Uni, so we had to call it a day. And that was that for the best part of 5 years. We started jamming again at the end of summer last year, and really started taking it seriously in January this year. Our first gig as TGR was in March at Nottingham's jam Cafe. How did you each start out in the music industry? We all started out at the same really, picking up instruments when we first started at secondary school. We’ve always had a real DIY spirit, and we used to arrange all of our own gigs with other bands we were at college with. We’d just promote them in the hallways by throwing flyers of the balconies and stuff like we were at an american high school. We never had trouble packing out the infamous Old Angel on a Saturday night, there were a lot of talented musicians knocking about at college. Tell us about your style of music and your influences in music. I’m not really sure if we have an exact style. We all have a proper eclectic taste in music, and I think that translates into the way we all play our instruments and write songs. We take influences from just about every genre of music. As a band though, we like a lot of ska, post punk, soul, funk, hip hop, indie and electronic music. Anything interesting really. It wouldn’t be unusual to find us listening to Fela Kuti in the car one day and Television the next.
Favourite tracks? There are too many to list realistically, but the three of us were in the car last week with Parquet Courts new album on and we found ourselves singing along rather enthusiastically to the outro of a track called Instant Dis-assembly. We were lucky enough to catch their set at Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago, they were easily the best band I saw that weekend. 16

What tips and advice do you have for people in the music industry, especially new bands trying to get sounds out there? I'm not sure if I have any advice really, we've only been gigging since March so I don't think we're best placed to say. If anyone has any tips or advice for us though we'd love to hear it! What have you got planned in the future, and any upcoming gigs we can catch you at? We're planning on recording again hopefully in August or September, so keep your eyes peeled for our next single. We've got a load of new material that we're very excited about! Our next two gigs are in London at Water Rats on the 23rd of August, and at the Sebright Arms on the 6th of September. Both are gonna be amazing nights, so come get your dance on (Sensible footwear is advisable, and the front two rows may get wet . . .)! Any last words? We’d just like to spread some love to some other local artists who we love. Check out Matt Henshaw and Tray Electric. Two very talented blokes!!! www.soundcloud.com/threegirlrhumba www.facebook.com/threegirlrhumba www.twitter.com/3girlrhumba 17
LAS - Your Eyes EP IMRV010 What better way to celebrate Innamind Recording’s tenth vinyl release than a five track double 12” edition of superior soundsystem constructions from the Finnish master, LAS. The ‘Your Eyes EP’ represents a landmark in LAS’s already remarkable discography - his most extensive and ingenious collection of music yet - and for Innamind, is another stellar release that further strengthens their reputation for releasing the scene’s most essential dubstep. LAS’s deft use of space, bassweight dread, original sound design and marrying diverse styles and moods is in full effect on the ‘Your Eyes’ EP. The titular track’s anxious atmosphere and pattering, tension-building drums develop into a off-kilter anthem, laden with thick bass-pressure and swung rhythms that leave you unstable on your feet. The unique way in which he interchanges powerful pulses of bassline and minimal, yet immaculately timed percussive accents to create so much groove in his tracks is again executed brilliantly on ‘Pirates’ and ‘Temper’ - another pair of weapons from the EP to incite full-scale skanking in the dance. The latter showcases LAS’s ability to change the vibe in an instant, as it brings a powerfully melancholic, distant piano melody. The steel percussion, Caribbean rhythms and a beautiful vocal sample on ‘Lesson’ heighten the dubwise edge that runs throughout the EP.

Audio Monsters are a group of 3; K1, Shabz and their DJ Daniel 'Steppa', whose journey began back in 2008 from their individual rooms. In 2013, influenced and inspired by the likes of Disclosure and Rudimental, the three sensed a comeback, in influencing the newest generations but still "implementing the traditional excitement of discovering new music", says Shabz. They have started producing and creating their own tracks, releasing them on Soundcloud, where they want to focus more on songs and creating more tracks. The track 'Trouble' has been given a remix by the legendary So Solid Crew, and it features D/C, Megaman and Romeo, debuted by Mistajam on BBC Radio 1 on Saturday night.

This Month I Caught up with my Fellow Brightonian’s and longtime friends from the UK, Russell Small & James Wiltshire, From The Fantastic Dance Act The Freemasons to chat about there new Album Shakedown 3. Due for Release Early September 2014 1. Hi Guys, great to see your back with a new album, and containing over 30 Tracks. Wow, so that must have taken some serious work. Are the tracks all new originals or a mix of new tracks and remixes etc.? It's a mixture of both, there are 4 remixes of other artists (London Grammar, Hurts, Whitney Houston and John Newman) the rest of the tracks are Freemasons productions.

2, So many of our readers are from the USA, Are you guys planning any shows overthere to coincide with you Album Launch? And also do you have a tour planed the rest of the world? I have just come back from a 5 date tour of the US and Canada, hopefully heading back later in the year, currently i'm in ibiza and touring most of Europe over the summer promoting Shakedown 3. 3.So Im loving the Shakedown 3 previews, and the Soundcloud minimixes you guys put up, Where did your passion and inspiration come from regarding this new Album? This time we wanted to give a little bit more, we have been working together for 10 years now, we wanted to make it quite special, a true reflection of what we both are about musically both in terms of production and remixes, it contains influences from different genres, eras and styles of house music, if you listen to the Album its quite obvious sometimes who we have been influenced by on certain tracks - wink wink .The album is spread over 3 CDs, the first is more laid back, more appropriate for the Poolside or Beach or the bedroom for that matter. CD 2 is more upbeat -more what people would probably expect from us i suppose, the 3rd being an artist album - A collection of all the new material.
21
FREEMASONS 4. Obviously you have had many hits and been in the UK And Europe dance and pop charts over you long carer but For The USA readers and other worldwide followers of Audiation Magazine that might not know your work quite as well, what would you consider your proudest moments and achievements since being in the music industry to date? Probably our biggest achievement was being nominated for a Grammy for our Beyonce Deja-Vu Remix, it would have been nice to have won, but there's still plenty of time yet. In the UK we have had 7 top 20 chart hits, 2 of our Beyonce remixes reached No 1. Our remix of Beyonce and Shakira- Beautiful liar reached No 1 in 17 different countries around Europe....... 5. Any new artists or singers you have been collaborating with on the new album or in general that we should be on the look out for in the future? We have featured most of the artists that we used on our other albums Katherine Ellis, Bailey Tzuke, Amanda Wilson, Judie Tzuke, they are like family and all great singers /songwriters. New editions include HANA, who James met in the Apple store in Brighton, she sent us a demo of 'True Love Survivor', which for me is one of the best songs on the album, we couldn't get on the phone quick enough when we heard it. We both fell in Love With Emma Rohan's voice the moment we started working with her, anyone who can get the line ' Here comes the Thunder Valentine , with Stormy Kisess' into a song ( Sea Of Fire ) and make it work demands utter respect in our opinion. Another new edition Andrea Martin, who has written over 30,000 songs, fell into our laps. We actually got the song from our good friend Biff Stannard who cowrote it with Andrea and his long term collaborator ( and brilliant musician ) Ash Howes . We were talking shop over dinner one night, we brought up the fact we would love to work with Andrea, Biff said he had a song which he thought would be perfect for us and thats exactly what it was.. It's the most complicated arrangement on the album and a great crossing point between House and tougher club styles

6. And Last but not least, for the people out there that don’t know, how did the freemasons name come about? Its the name of my local pub In Brighton Uk, it seemed as good a name as any :-) However - just after we had chosen the name and our first single was about to come out, James shared an evening train home from London with several retired gentlemen who had been to the Lord Mayor of London's annual Dinner. Their friendship and stories (including military service during the cold war ) were quite wonderful to hear .. Before they left they discussed the next lodge meeting and it soon became apparent that they were Freemasons and at the higher echelons of Brighton's Masonic order.. It was an interesting meeting.... life has a funny way of pointing you in the right direction !

The Sassy Yank interviews:
Recently I had the opportunity to catch up with one of Australia's leading DJ/Producer/Record Label owner's Husky, fresh off his Bali Tour. Although Husky has been making waves musically for awhile now he is fairly new to my ears. I was immediately drawn to his fun, soulful, funky vibes! 1. What would you say have been the biggest inspirations to for you musically? Hard to ignore my parents here obviously, as I grew up in a household that always had music going and regular dinner parties and barbeques where I was exposed to the likes or Randy Crawford, Simply Red, Franky Valli, The Singing Detective, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and many more, So i guess I was a lover of music from my early days. Then once I found dance music i just loved anything with a groovy bassline, and a disco influence. I became an advid fan and follower of many dj's and producers, but the one's that continue to inspire me are Dimitri From Paris, Miguel Migs, Joey Negro, Grant Nelson, Franky Knuckles and Knee Deep/Lovebirds. 24
www.AudiationMagazine.com
2. You recently started your own record label, what would you say were the biggest motivating factors for that decision? Well I have actually got 2 labels, Random Soul Recordings (which I started with Yogi in 2010) and Bobbin Head Music. Basically I was at a stage where I was sitting on a lot of solo music and was getting a little tired of waiting for labels to put things out, or just having to accept the way they promoted, released and remixed my tunes without much of a say from me as the artist. I knew it was a massive undertaking to do another label, but figured at this stage I just want to be in control of my music and have those decisions as my own and then there's only myself to blame if it doesn't do so well ;) 3. What advice would you give to aspiring artists? Stay true to yourself. Make, play and collect the music YOU love and try not to get too bogged down in what is popular and what everyone else is doing. No point trying to be someone else, they're already taken ! 4. Do you get to travel often? If, so, is it something you enjoy doing? Are there drawbacks? I am lucky enough to have seen a lot of the world recently, and it's something i really enjoy doing. For me touring is an amazing opportunity to meet people who are into your music and celebrate that in a foreign surrounding. I am a bit of a plane nerd, so I actually love travelling, however, I CANT sleep on planes. This would not be such an issue if I was based in Europe or the States, but being in Australia, it means there's a lot of longer flights to get to places like Russia (where I have now played twice). Being a vegetarian can be difficult sometimes too, as most airlines don't really cater that well for that, so it makes for some hungry flights sometimes.. In reality though, these are all pretty lame 'first world' problems, so I suck it up and am just thankful I have ever been given the opportunity to come and play my music somewhere outside of home :) 5. When you are not doing music, what does a typical day look for you? And what is your favorite way to spend your day? ha ha, well if it's not music, it's admin (chasing money, bookings, metadata for the labels, licenses, uploads etc). I actually don;t mind doing this, however it can become a little frustrating when you're on a vibe musically and have to drop that to do something urgent. Favourite way to spend my day would be to make some great food, probably italian, then jump on my bike and go for a cruise to the beach, swim and then back to chill on the couch with a documentary.. probably something like Wicked tuna or something lame.. yeah, im that guy..

6. If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be? And, why? Make it easier for artists to receive their royalties that they deserve. The systems in place are designed to make labels money, and that's only if the labels know the system in the first place. Sadly a lot of artists are not getting the funds they deserve and the legwork you have to do to get them is ridiculous. Hardly a fair system sadly, as it always benefits the larger, more organised labels. 7. Who would you want to collaborate or work with if you got the chance? What about them makes you want to work with them? Wow, the list is endless really.. some amazing vocalists and other producers.. it's hard to pick any one to be fair.. However, i'd love to work with Joslyn's vocals. She sung on a lot of Kaskade's early tracks, her sound is just captivating to me, for House music anyway. Also LT from Naked Music, or on a different vibe maybe collabing with Pharrel would be interesting production wise, and vocally :) 8. Out of all the things you have upcoming, what are you most excited about? And, why? I am currently working on my first solo album, and I'll be very happy to see the back of it haha. BUT also im excited to see how people will react to it. It's not reinventing any wheels, but it's music from my heart and something I have enjoyed putting together, so hopefully it's well received. I am also planning some more tours and travels for later in the year, so there's plenty to feel blessed about and look forward to!

Kiesza - Take Me To Church (Hozier Cover)
With the success of Hideaway and forthcoming single Giant In My Heart, Kiesza has shown a penchant (and no small amount of talent) for delivering catchy pop hooks over driving dance-backing tracks. As the 60 million YouTube plays for Hideaway's video prove, she's also got some serious dance moves. Strip these attributes away from lesser artists and you wouldn't be left with much, but as this stunning acoustic performance highlights: Kiesza is no run of the mill manufactured pop star. Armed with nothing but an acoustic guitar and her own voice, the video shows the Canadian songstress deliver a stunning, heartfelt rendition of Hozier's hit track Take Me To Church. Kiesza's forthcoming single 'Giant In My Heart'releases on August 11th via Lokal Legend / Virgin EMI.

DJ Mike Mission Interview by Mizz Ruby My real name is Mike Darby, I was born in Nottingham, England. I am an Audio Visual Engineer, qualified Sound Engineer. I have been a DJ for over 20 years and producing for around 10 years. I grew up listening to Electric Funk, Elektro, Soul, New Jack Swing, Jungle and Hip-Hop! www.soundcloud.com/dj-mike-mission
I studied Multimedia Media at Greenwich University between 96-99 and I wa lucky enough to stumble onto DeJaVu FM when I was chilling out or had free time. This style of music had everything that I needed & when I went out to clubs like Legends, Penge Parties & Imperial Gardens. Tuff Jam was the style that really clinched it for me. Their music sounded like it was made by black folk for black folk, so I identified with it instantly. Plus the fact that the sound engineering training had already taught me how to hear the elements in music production instead of just listening made it impact on me so much more! I felt extremely lucky to witness the evolution of this authentic London underground music scene, similar to Jungle in 94! I immediately started visiting the record shops armed with my student grant to discover all the great tunes that were coming out then. Uptown Records, Blackmarket Records and some other Soho based stores. What can listeners expect to hear on your mixes? See I’m a club dancer at heart. I know what makes the crowd want to get down & shake everything at once, that helps when I’m producing/mixing music. I’ve always loved heavy deep resonating basslines, so I like songs that evoke emotion which trigger nostalgic memory. The need to ensure that every mix is better than the last one, kind of motivates me. Producers that inspire my sound are legends: Tuff Jam, Noodles, MJ Cole, New Horizons, Anthill Mob and RIP Productions. What does music mean to you? Music means freedon to me. I am naturally creative so I feel a great sense of emotional freedom when I mix, produce or even listen to music. I need it everyday, no matter what Im doing!

August Singles Review
The best monthly listings of chilled/deep and jackin house/nu disco and more... Loads of excellent tracks on review and listed this month, but first a big thanks to the Freemasons and Skint Records for being part of my column this month. One of the best vocal performances I’ve come across this month is Full Crate xMar with a track Titled "man x women” coming out on the 10th of August 2014 via Island Records, Amazing soulful R&B style male vocal, with a funky deep house groove, Including Organ Style house stabs, reminiscent of Maya Jane Coles, I’m not sure if this track started off as an all-out R&B track as it breaks down to one very cleverly towards the end.. A very relaxing deep house tune. Out now on fake music is the very sexy house groove from "Idriss Chebak” - Called "Away from you” A nice touch is FakeMusic have also made the track free to their fans on Facebook, so all you need to do is like his page to get this excellent track, (or buy it on iTunes if you would like to support them even more ;-) All details can be found on soundcloud along with the link below. A track that actually took me a few listens to get right into is the remix of “Tough Love” by one of the best Singers in the UK “Jessie Ware” we are talking about the “Cyril Hahn Remix” here, a guy that’s made a huge name for himself over the last couple of years. Mainly down to he has his own unique style of deep/Laid Back house,Sometimes with touches of 80’s like the baseline does on this one. Well worth checking out along with the half a million other people that have listened to it on Jessie Ware’s Soundcloud Page. ;-) More great stuff by Jessie Ware includes the fantastic track called Aaliyah that she did with other Brilliant Singer and major player in the female Uk Songstress Market "Katy B” And if you want to here more from Cyril you couldn’t do much worse than check out is amazing new single “Slow Ft Rochelle Jordan, If you have been following my collum over the last few months you weill be well aware I’m a huge fan of R&B style vocal over House beats, I think its a marriage made in heaven, and this track is bow different, super smooth quality sexy vocals from Rochelle and Super Quality House groove and production from Mr Hann, This track is coming out on his voices EP Soon. Here are links to the tracks listed above.

On a bit more of a french house 80’s pop vibe, is the energetic upbeat funky guitar track called “Uptight Downtown” by the Great “La Roux” this is the first single released of their new album which came out on Polydor Records on 18th July 2014, After the success of getting to no 1 in the Uk bbc pop charts and no 1 in the UK iTunes chart with his fantastic Gecko featuring Uk ( the voice tv show’s) Becky Hill, Oliver Heldens is back with Kolala, Which kind of takes off where Gecko Finished, But have no doubt even though there are similarities this is a fantastic house track in its own right, still in instrumental form at the moment, but I’m sure in three to four months this will get the same treatment as gecko and have a vocal added to it , to get it into the UK charts. Some of you my know the original Track, Sander Van Doorn & Firebeatz -Guitar track, that was doing the rounds a few months ago. This is Sam feldt remix, and wow what a remix. Sam keeps the catchy acoustic guitar bit and turns this into a blissed out chilled house winner including new sax solo parts , drums, groove, oh and he loses the EDM drop the original had. ;-) Defo one to watch this guy. He has his own Original track out on SpinninDeep with De Hofnar , called blossom which is out now,,,awesome stuff. Another fantastic track available on August 15th via Spinnin is by the wonderfully talented Mike Mago & Dragonette , called “outlines", This fantastic funky house number this one had as you would expect a super catch vocal by Dragonette, oh btw where are the promos Spinnin? So we can review your awesome track more thoroughly in our equally awesome magazine?… ( Cheeky smiley face;-) Deep house Legend Solomun is back with “Friends” released on the 7th July 2014 via 2DIY4m this is probably the most original deep house track around at the moment. Lots of appegiated melodies and epic strings and brass/horn sounds.

Well we couldn’t really go a whole Rokuro monthly column without mentioning one of my favorite producers and remixes “Oliver Nelson”. Everything this guy does is total quality disco funk goodness, Including the mid tempo remix of Tomas Barfod’s “Busy Baby” feat Nina K , out now on Secretly Canadian Records, check it out. ;-) Probably my favorite track around at the moment is the super catchy track called Sunlight feat Years&Years by the majestic “The Magician”. This has the best vocal in a dance track I’ve come across in a while, and the groove doesn’t disappoint either with catchy Hammond organ melodies over a wicked house groove. I’ve played this out a couple times already, and it’s a totally killer on the dance floor! ;-) On a slightly more commercial tip is the catchy energetic house/pop groove by Cedric Gervais (unrelated to Ricky). ;-) This track is called through the night and is available on iTunes now, wouldn’t be surprised if this got in the UK pop charts at some point, as even tho slightly commercial its seriously catchy. Other notable tracks worth a shout out this month are the “ No Artificial Colours Remix’ of Audiation favorite Kiesza. I’m still preferring the original of this ‘Giant In My Heart’ track. Her tracks must be a nightmare to remix as the originals are well, so original and good. Second City are back after their No1 UK Chart track “I Wanna Feel” with ‘What Can I Do’, this has a really nice up-tempo house vibe to it, out soon on Ministry of Sound. And last but not least I have a new track called ‘Signs of Time’ coming out on Empire Audio on the 4th August, with Celeste Ft PGX. Here is a Soundcloud link if you would like to check it out. See you next month! ;-)

FREEMASONS
Exclusive Top Ten for Audiation Magazine Freemasons Ft Hana - True Love Survivor Vincent M & DJ Jel - Merinla Duke Dumont - I Wont Look Back Eric Prydz - Liberate (Lane 8 Remix) Patrick Topping - Forget Hot Natured - Benediction ( Grades Remix ) Dusky - Love Taking Over Freemasons - Discopolis Daniel Steinberg - Let Me Down (Tube and Berger Remix) Freemasons - Intoxicated Freemasons are a dance / house / electronica production team from England. The act consists of DJ/Producer/composer/remixers Russell Small and James Wiltshire. The duo have become one of the most successful dance acts in the UK thanks to their remixes of major artists like Beyonce and Faith Evans as well as their own productions for which they have earned three 20 top hits. Freemasons released two Shakedown mix albums and their own album ‘Unmixed’ and hit the top ten again with their sixth hit in a row with ‘Heartbreak’ (Make Me A Dancer) featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The success of their productions led to bookings all over the world, headlining Mardi Gras twice and playing everywhere from Rio to Seoul, culminating in an epic ‘Summer of Pride’ in 2010 in which they headlined at every major Pride festival in the UK and North America. “We’ve written and recorded so much new material we’ve enough for a couple of albums at least,” says Russell. “This is why we decided that our Shakedown 3 should be a triple CD – a part mix album, part artist album, the best of both worlds.” A lot has changed in the ten years since Freemasons began their career but one thing has not - the music and the public's response to it. Or as James put it recently "We've always been about that moment a huge vocal note crosses a barline, hits the chord change just right and the hairs come up on your arms- We're with Nile Rogers - it's about how a record makes you feel that’s important"!!!!

DJ Don Interview by Mizz Ruby What can people expect to hear when listening to your mixtapes? The mixtape is never always one genre, I like to mix it up. If you go to a party you dont want to hear the same music all the way through.
What are your thoughts on the music industry? The music industry only puts out what they think you want to listen to or what they'd like you to listen. If they put out what they really wanted, there'd be a lot more house, garage, a lot more genres in the charts, they wont put house and garage in the charts. They came up with Deep House, which is garage really. If it's good for garage, it's good for garage.
Digital against vinyl? I started on vinyl, we didn't have pitch control on our decks. You gotta move along with the times.. The amount of music I can take out on memory sticks now, imagine carrying that on vinyl.
We really some of the older names to bring out some really good new school garage tracks and then the others will jump back on it.
What does music mean to you? Now it's so much more accesible, so you enjoy it more and more. Now you can play your music anywhere you like, you don't need 15 gadgets to do it! Music means the same to me as it did back then, it's always been part of me and obviously it will carry on.

Luke Liddiard - The Lost EP OFR00019 "Gorgeous vocals from Sarah Leigh paired with a head-bopping beat on Lost In This Place. The Tempo Elektrik remix plays with the bass giving it a darker feel. Pay The Price is another track focused on the edgy bass with interesting vocal touches." Mizz Ruby
DJ S.K.T - Running EP DJ S.K.T is on a roll at the moment, with tracks like 'Right Before My Eyes' and 'Push The Feeling 2014" essential DJ tools and having remixed Oliver Helden's number 1 single "Gecko (Overdrive)" as well as the forthcoming Becky Hill solo effort. One of the hottest producers in the game comes with three club ready tracks on Mark Radford's Audio Rehab label.

IØV Music is a lifeline for me. As an 18 year old coming from of the quaint county of Surrey, the urban electronic dance music scene, which is beginning to reinvent itself, is exciting for me. The fusion of older ideas with modern technology and new abilities gives anyone the opportunity to express themselves in creative ways. As a musician, I would say I’m very experimental, trying out as many genres and styles, in production and through the piano. I started out with orchestral remixes of modern pop and electronicore songs, but the production of genres such as trap and deep house is also really invigorating. UK garage itself is something new for me. For how long it’s been around, I wish I came across it earlier. There is so much that can be done with it, which I have still to explore. My first full length UKG track, a remix of DJ Luck’s and MC Neat’s “Aint No Stopping Us” is hopefully a start of more interesting music production.

Random Soul - Sweet Obsession ft Inaya Day RANDOM SOUL stand tall with their house roots, and bring us another rock solid vocal release, this time featuring the incomparable INAYA DAY. "Sweet Obsession" offers a moody bassline groove, vocal cuts and classic drums, all with their usual clean production for a modern twist. In a tribute to their early sounds, they have offered 2 original versions, One with a more “funky" piano riff, and the other with a more stripped, deeper feel. 2 great club cuts for the house heads. Keeping the underground appeal going strong, they have snapped up one of the highest regarded remixers in the current deeper house circuit. French-born, London resident, GIOM, is no stranger to rocking a club track, and that’s exactly what he has delivered on this remix. His usual bounce, combined with quirky vocal cuts and a hypnotic bass groove, has all the trimmings of an Ibiza classic. With the season just underway, this one’s an essential for any day time or moonlight ravers. Sweet Obsession packs a punch, and it’s going to be that tune you can’t put down. Get down on it!
