jAMES WOLF - CAN'T GET ENOUGH Can’t Get Enough is the latest offering from London’s James Wolf, released on 27th October, via Herculean Records. Once again showcasing James Wolf’s perfect blend of pop influenced nu-disco, with a deliciously tropical edge; Can’t Get Enough crescendos from an undulating bass line to an all-out euphoric chorus replete with James’ smooth vocals repeating the single’s title, ‘I Can’t Get Enough’. Produced and written by James Wolf and Troika, Can’t Get Enough is also accompanied by a bold and unmissable video showcasing exactly what make James Wolf tick, directed by Lewis Kyle White (Klaxons, Justice). Can’t Get Enough follows hot off the heels of recent single ‘Heart & Soul’ released earlier this year which garnered a wealth of early online support from titles including Dummy, The Beat Juice and Clash.com. Remixes for ‘Can’t Get Enough’, come by way of South African artist Petite Noir and heavily Radio 1 supported Copy Paste Soul, alongside Joshua James (London Grammar) and the LED Project. Long making a name for himself in his native Ireland with his wild club nights, James Wolf is a force to be reckoned with. With a raft of upcoming live shows to showcase his unstoppable stage presence, his can-do attitude has seem him work with such cuttingedge producers as Roy Kerr (London Grammar, Santigold), MSMSMSM (Bipp, Lemonade) the Nexus (Lana Del Rey, Hurts), garage superstar Mike Delinquent and Tom Neville (Ellie Goulding, Kelis). With the release of Can’t Get Enough James Wolf has refined his music, finding a fresh sound that is as bold, colourful and diverse as he is.

"Lauren's gorgeous strong versatile vocals, bouncing off nicely against a striking bold rhythmic beat and a subtle chilled atmosphere. This is a great upbeat track, a simple good melody, with the main dynamic variety through the vocals." Mizz Ruby Spinnin' Records | www.spinninrecords.com

Salaryman - Modelling Beats Slime Recordings “The sound of a chilled out future with oh so gorgeous vocal touches. Sounds beautifully pieced together in a fragmented way with some attitude and edge.” Mizz Ruby Slime welcomes the renowned French producer Salaryman to the label. An industry veteran with an impeccable back catalogue on some of the biggest labels around including Ram and Infrared, he makes his debut on the imprint with a versatile and compelling selection of tracks that span garage through to drum & bass.
‘Lose Your Memories VIP’ warps the original track from a D&B template into a seductive garage roller. Drifting in on modulated keys and atmospheric percussion, the rhythm slowly unfurls into a laconic two-step narrative. Replete with subtle bass pulses and breathless female vocals, it conjures up the best elements of the golden era of liquid D&B, twisted into a UKG format. ‘Modelling Clouds’ sees a collaboration with fellow countryman Static State for this sublime D&B odyssey. Melancholy piano keys introduce proceedings before melodic chords and ethereal vocals are blended across a beautiful D&B groove that quickly warms your heart and sets your mind adrift. ‘The Days’ celebrates the joy of old skool garage with an addictive stringpicking melody wrapped around bumpy UKG beats and twisting basslines. Subtle rave chords and female vocals add some sonic spice to the mix for a classic dancefloor filler that will have ravers everywhere winding their waists. For the last track French producer Hubwar takes hold of ‘Modelling Clouds’, mutating it into a contemplative dubstep groove. Cavernous bassweight and alien sounds combine for an enervating take on the original.

"The gorgeous vocals from Kelly Pepper, paired with a vibrant dance track hitting just the right notes. The beautiful beach-side video compliments the summery upbeat atmosphere of the track nicely." Mizz Ruby Kelly’s powerhouse vocals hit you instantly. With a voice outshining most of our time, and enough to challenge some of the all time best vocalists, she can lend her vocals to any genre. ‘
‘I’d sing for hours as a 12 year old girl locked in my room, basically shouting the words to Celine, Whitney and Christina songs! Until gradually the shouting became singing! And I never stopped singing from there!’ www.kellypepper.co.uk

"The brand new sweet and pretty, pop track from Leah Lost. The video is great, of a lovely summer picnic, with pretty colour hues. Gorgeous tones in the melodies and overall a fun-loving, spontaneous atmosphere." Mizz Ruby Leah Lost is an incredibly versatile singer/songwriter originating from Manchester. Leah has an extremely powerful and soulful voice which can be adapted to almost any style, but often compared with the likes of Adele, Yasmin, and Mary J Blige The artist has been creating a buzz around her music now for a few years by touring in and around Essex, London and Manchester, and her following continues to reach new levels, with a fan base in the US and the UK. www.leahlostofficial.com

Saturday 13th September, Finsbury Park in North London played host to Ceremony Festival, London’s last festival of the year leaving everybody looking forward to next year. The vibe in the air had a similar feeling to that found at Found Festival, always a great vibe, no doubt due to proceedings being led by the same team, but Ceremony was different and gave itself its own identity. The Numbers were there for the launch, with stages such as URBAN NERDS and the SO FRESH SO CLEAN stage hosted by The Menendez Brothers who had the legendary Todd Terry play an exclusive Hip-Hop set to a packed out tent. This gave this 1 day event a different feel. Banter and character was in full swing throughout park from start to end, which is full credit to everybody that played a part, from the DJ, Ceremony team to the bar staff.

The layout for the festival was nice and comfortable and the weather was nice keeping everybody in high spirits. The bars were all based in the centre with an easy token system used for drinks. A high class of music was echoed throughout Ceremony Festival across 7 stages, and this was to be expected. A special performance by Inner City (live) along with DJ Sneak in the 51ST STATE arena, Robert Owens, Bobby & Steve playing for GROOVE ODYSSEY, with the VIP hosted by EGG LDN. Sante b2b Sidney Charles, East End Dubs and then Nick Curly b2b Simon Baker for the closing set, just a few reasons among many why the MAGNA CARTA tent was so busy. Nick Curly and Simon Baker effortlessly churned out track after track, gripping everybody and keeping them moving till the very end. The CEREMONY MAIN STAGE was not to be out done though with stellar performances from Richy Ahmed and the Adana Twins, memories were made. .
As we look forward to next year the wait for another good event from the Found team isn’t too far away, with the Horror Series taking place at London’s Troxy across the Halloween weekend with two night of music curated by George FitzGerald and Maya Jane Coles.

1980 “A gorgeous blend of deep interesting sounds, with a little oldschool flavour.” Mizz Ruby Oporto’s newest record label 1980 bursts into the scene with the 5-track ‘Your Woman’ EP by London-based duo Unfixed & Broken. As they took their first steps as musicians in the 90s Oporto hip-hop scene, which led them to discover the fast-paced beats of jungle and drum&bass as Hi Fidel Cartel, it’s now the hybrid sounds of house and bass music that the prolific duo of Pedro Maurício and Miguel Tavares present to the world as Unfixed & Broken. Their keen ear for danceable breaks, bouncy basslines and melodic synthwork is fully represented in their latest work ‘Your Woman EP’, a collection of four original club-oriented tracks, complemented by a remix via Shcuro, a rising star among the Lisbon techno scene. As you hit play and the beats of Your Woman, I Just Want 2, Skuncaine and It Has Happened start rolling, you’ll instantly recognise elements of house, techno and the always evolving bass music scene, reflecting their own far-reaching musical influences and love of hybrid dance tracks, which create a laid-back and sensual vibe tailor-made for the coming summer months. 1980’s very first record not only presents a new label to the world but also a fresh project from a veteran production team, accompanied by a killer remix from one of the most promising artists from the Portuguese underground.

"A nice deep bassy stomper! Great vocals, and a nice bumpy touch as always!" Mizz Ruby It's been a crazy year for DJ & Producer S.K.T, with gigs all over the UK and Europe this summer. He has already achieved a UK top 60 in the national charts independently via his label Up-Tempo records and a top 40 with his collaboration with Little Nikki "Right before my eyes" via Sony which received huge international support from DJs including MK, Amine Edge & Dance, Fredde Le Grand, Sam Divine, Steve Smart, Mistajam, DJ EZ & DJ Target to name a few. Touted as the "go to guy" by majors looking for credible remixes, he has recently remixed the no 1 single by Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill - Gecko/Overdrive which was widely received and supported by Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, B Traits, DJ Target, DJ Cameo, Steve Smart and many more. Forthcoming remixes include Wilkinson's new single "Dirty Love" feat Talay Riley for Virgin/EMI and Becky Hill's debut single "Caution to the wind" on FFRR/Parlophone. His remix of "Nightcrawlers Vs DJ S.K.T - Push the feeling" has also just been signed to Ministry of Sound due for release later this year. With guest mixes for BBC 1xtra and Kiss 100 already under his belt plus a headline gig at Ministry of Sound, DJ S.K.T drops his brand new track "Shoulda let you go", a groovy bass driven track laced with lush, moody pitched down vocals, ideal for both radio and club. Currently collaborating with a number of high profile artists, singers and songwriters on original material for his forthcoming album plus a new EP for 2015 already in the pipeline, there seems to be no stopping this young DJ & Producer from North London. www.uptemporecs.com 15
Riddler Records | Listen “Gorgeous production, a nice smooth atmosphere, classic 2-step with a touch of the sexy jazz influence. Accompanied by sweet vocals – this is a great piece. Urban roughness added to finish it off. ” Mizz Ruby Phonetix is back with partner in crime, Harsh, this time accompanied by Kissy Sell Out tour MC, Cobra. The trio come with a juicy laidback summer jam reminiscent of MJ Cole’s debut album, complete with a bangingremix from the Final Cutt Collective & a set of alternative versions by Phonetix himself – covering 4×4, Speed Garage, Deep House and Drum & Bass. "The legendary Judge Jules presents his debut release on the Black Hole Recordings label. A pulsating beat, light atmosphere, and a modern edgy dance melody." Judge Jules certainly delivers and you don't want to be the one to miss out!

Hazel Soze is a stunningly diverse female DJ set to change the male dominant industry of drum and bass. Her tracks are multi dimensional and colorfully layered with a hint of true underground spirit. Set to make her debut this year, this is one little lady you don’t want to take your eyes off. Although Hazel has been in the drum and bass scene for the past few years, she only created her first drum and bass track with Semantics named “Troller” back in 2013 which gave Hazel her first real taste of the industry. From there, she went on to doing a biweekly residency at Origin FM, Bassport and events such as Glastonbury festival (main dance stage), Random Concept, Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Fabric London, Egg, Boomtown and prestigious nights at Shoreditch House and She Soho.

"A relaxed intro with a summer vibe. Progressing towards a more dance natured atmosphere with nice upbeat tempo. The voccals are sweet and seductive, with a strong energy. This is a great track for Autumn to dance the night away." Mizz Ruby She has spent the best part of 2014 creating her debut album with Guy Katsav at Denmark Studios in London and with Potential Badboy (True Playaz) in Holborn. Her new single ‘Heatwave’ featuring Emmy J Mac- from ‘The Voice’ has had a lot of support from DJ Fresh, Foreign Beggars and Kim Wyatt to name a few. Her music video for ‘Heatwave’ is set to air on Sky Music Channels. She is also working with Fae Simon (signed Jazz singer) on more tracks. Her diversity stretches as far as writing with pop artist ‘Fraag Malas’ and they are flying her out to New York in October to produce some tracks. With a special live acoustic video of ‘Heatwave’ set to hit the airways at the end of October, and the next couple of tracks set to premiere over the coming months, 2014 moving forward into 2015 looks to be very positive for this rising female DJ.

I was kindly given the opportunity to attend my first ever video shoot and it was truly an enjoyable experience. Truth be told i was pretty apprehensive about attending before hand, but the welcoming nature of all involved put me right at ease. The “Let’s Party” video shoot was held on The London Yacht,Temple Pier, just a stone throw away from Embankment station. The setting was nice and classy for a video that is due to be shown across the UK music channels, shot by Fabian Thomas. I had half expected the boat to be at full capacity as i had visioned a boat full of people and “video girls” but them thoughts were quickly dispelled and i found myself in a more comfortable intimate setting, which worked. Let’s Party produced by Junior UKG & Martin Carr featuring Dr Zee is a catchy 2 step track that easily sticks in the head. Built with a nice drum pattern fitted with soft melodic chords, sets a nice platform for strong vocals. Dr Zee features on the track with a verse that sits well accompanied by the vocals from Martin Carr, adding a real smooth feel. Junior UkG & Martin Carr ft Dr Zee - Lets Party | Bumpa Funk Records.

“Sexy, sweet, upbeat. This is a vibrant release with gorgeous tones. In fact the whole release has such a pull, I don’t even have words, just feelings. As you continue through listening the music speaks for itself. Pure sexy.” Mizz Ruby Slime welcomes London-based producer Urbani to the label. Debuting on the imprint with a fresh UKG style that fits perfectly with our sonic aesthetic, he brings with him three killer tracks that epitomise the future sound of garage but with a nod to the past. Guaranteed to be incendiary on the dancefloor, this is one release destined to be in your digital crate for some time. ‘Who I Be’ opens proceedings with a bang. Warehouse rave chords combine with diva vocals for a garage roller that delivers the goods from the get go. Skip and swing rhythms drive the track along until it meets a monstrous bassline that will have you pulling for the reload time and time again. ‘When I’m Lookin’ takes the pace down a touch with an atmospheric opening, drizzling sensual female vocals over a classic bump and flex groove. The build-up dissolves into a modulated bassline that will punish soundsystems everywhere, before expanding out into an incredible garage anthem. ‘5 Violins’ takes the tempo of the former and wraps it up with a distinct old skool rave flavour, replete with warm pads and skittering percussion. Sub-bass rattles your chestplate as the looped vocal gels the track together for something truly special. Slime Recordings | www.slimerecordings.co.uk

In their 10-years production celebration the Ghent-based duo, Josh Lasden & Synoptic, from Belgium are presenting their Studio Sunday EP on the AWJ Recordings music label. “We love Futuristic House Music” Josh Lasden & Synoptic Both tracks are having the typical futuristic character, a genre where the duo is knowing from. You could easily call the genre, Futuristic House, music. Studio Sunday brings a tech house feel with spooky sounding synths, percussion and a dance floor minded key evolving towards climaxes. The second break is irresistible bringing the dance floor key back in action. Funky Swing, like the title already reveals, is more suited for funky house lovers. A funky bass line keeps rolling while jazzy organs and keys gently play around, giving a smooth break with waved synths. “Studio Sunday has a blend of futuristic sounds with a chilled tempo and rhythmic beat. Taking a bassier note, Funky Swing has a groovy pulsating beat with a memorable vibe. thrown into full swing with experimental synths and melodies.” Mizz Ruby www.awjrecordings.com

Will Monotone - The Connection EP Boston based Will Monotone may not have a name that rings immediate alarm bells on the UK shores, but one listen to any of the numerous tracks he has produced and it quickly becomes a name that you will find hard to forget. With a somewhat distinctive style where you’re liable to find big breaks, drums you can surf on, solid bass lines and very clever vocal snippets all intertwined to create strong beat driven grooves, it’s easy to see why he has accumulated so much respect within the scene. From orchestrating the weekly Hush after-hours parties in New York whilst studying, Will’s talents behind the booth and in the studio have led to releases on Defected, Factomania and working with legend Steve Lawler’s Viva Warriors. With an extensive catalogue of tracks with different grooves behind him and teaming up with New York based duo, Eskuche and Nu-Sky, Will Monotone delivers a top class 3 track EP entitled “The Connection”. Scheduled for release in November EP released on Gradus Records, run by Eskuche & Nu-Sky Will spared some time to talk with Audiation Magazine.
What is your musical background history, how did you get into producing House Music? I don't really have a huge musical background instrument wise. When I was younger I played the piano, violin and drums recreationally, but nothing too serious. I got into producing because I really was in love with the music from going out when I was younger and I had ideas that I wanted to make reality. What inspires you to make new music and where do you draw your influences from? Most of my influences come from 90's hip hop, it's what I listen to the most. as for inspiration I guess it would be the things that happen in my personal life, good and bad. How would you Describe your sound? I get this question most often to be honest I don't really know how to describe it a lot of people tell me there is a "Will Monotone Sound,” but I don't know what it is lol. I'm really into heavy drum programming and grooves that make me dance but it's mostly beat driven.
28
www.AudiationMagazine.com
Do you remember the name of the 1st track you ever made? Lol, Jesus, the first track I ever made was under a moniker. I used to go under "Fama" which sat for a few years and ended up later getting released with the vocals of Alan T. It was called "Here In Spirit". How did it feel when you released your 1st single/EP? It felt good but I'm very critical of my own work so I wasn't really too happy with it. That's really my downfall sometimes. I get to critical with my own music. How does the feeling of releasing an EP now compare to when you released your 1st? It's much different because I'm making a sound that I’ve always wanted to achieve, so I'm much more pleased with my releases these days than I was back then. Steve Lawler's ViVa Music, is a big established Label, how did that connection come about? Well I have always been a huge fan of Steve dating back to his "Home" mix cd & his release on bedrock titled "Rise In". I've been in contact on and off with Steve for a few years via Skype and last year around March, I sent him a few tracks on Skype and then a month or so later he wrote back saying "Wow Will these are really really good love the grooves" then he asked for two more to make an EP to release on Viva. Since then I've become very good friends with the viva family especially Anek. They are great girls and we support each other's music heavily. Eskuche & Nu-Sky are steadily making a name for themselves constantly churning out quality releases, how did the releases on Gradus Records Happen? Well they opened for me back in 2013 at Sullivan room and gave me a few of their tracks and if I'm honest it sat in my bag for about 3 months then when I headed off to ibiza I had them a listen on the flight and the records were good, and had great potential so I kept in contact. They would send me more of their work and it got better so I asked them for an EP for my label Sub Society. Then this past year at Sankeys NY during one of the Viva Warriors parties they have me a vinyl promo. I listened to it at my next gig and played, they asked me for a release and i respect the fact they are venturing with a vinyl only label so I gave them an EP. Whats next in the pipeline for Will Monotone? "More and more music, just taking it one say at a time"

A1. Will Monotone - The Connection (Original Mix) From the off The Connection EP is an instant groover. The title track starts with solid kicks and rhythmic drums, a simple harmonic pattern of keys that fills the track before the unleashing of a slightly punchy but heavy rolling bline. The intricateness used to create the layers of drum patterns and background noises within this track give it a body, making it an easy listen. Such an easy listen that even an individual with no knowledge of underground music can easily groove ad enjoy the track. The use of a vocal sample thats embedded in the right places give the track a real identity. B1. Will Monotone - The Connection (Eskuche & Nu-Sky Remix) The remix offers us a complete different feel with more a more pungent bassline and prominent snares that dance around clever hi-hats. The use of the harmonic key patterns created by WM is carried over into the remix by NY duo Eskuche & Nu Sky and used to create a soft breakdown. The extent of how soft the becomes works perfectly allowing for a heavy solid drop. There is more use of the vocal sample than there is in the original but it’s not over used being effective and sitting nicely. B2. Will Monotone - Weekend Love (Original Mix) Weekend Love is a a prime example of WM’s beat driven Hip-Hop influenced style. Metronomic hats, use of vocal snippets that embed within the track mixed with grooves and a solid b-line. An easily recognisable sample from early 80/90’s Hip Hop is used with the breakdown, you can picture a party singing back the lyrics before the it drop back in. Weekend Love is a strong B-Side track. Brand new release from Polish producer Krzysztof Wisniewski (Crystalline). Come Into Being" is an epic, melodic and positive journey! Awesome leads, deep pads and energetic loops together form a beautiful melody. You can't miss this release!
"It all started with a simple play with my midi keyboard. I completed a foundation for the song but had absolutely no idea how it would sound like, so I began to do some experiments with little classical style. The tune began to sound like a cinematic theme but I was not quite satisfied. I decided to change the front and back of the chords, tried new scales and did everything instinctively. Finally here's the final result. The name Spirits of Egypt, Egypt has so much secrets, ancient times, many still know little about. Trance music is spiritual!" TerraNation

Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne - Real Love Earlier in the year, Jess Glynne’s now distinctive vocals graced 2 x #1 singles Clean Bandit’s classical-dance smash ‘Rather Be’ and Route 94’s ‘My Love’. Now, to see 2014 out, Jess joins unstoppable forces once again with Clean Bandit for their joint single ‘Real Love’ The single – a co-write between the two acts – after its release as a single on November 16th, will appear on a new version of Clean Bandits’ top 5 debut album; ‘New Eyes: Special Edition’ is released the following week on November 24th. ‘Real Love’ once again, deftly demonstrates Jess’s skills as both a singularly impressive singer and songwriter but also a commander of the dance floor. Kicking off in Sheffield at The Foundry on October 15 the two week run finishes up at London’s Electric Brixton at the end of the month.
