It’s two different things for me, when I’m producing I try to express my feelings in that music, and when I’m DJing I try to keep the crowd and me at the same vibe.
Wo l s h i s t h e n e w a l i a s f r o m Brazilian artist Gui Arruda. His repertoire consists of DJing at To m o r r o w l a n d festival, releasing music on Spinnin' Records and was previously named as a top 10 DJ in Brazil. With the Rio 2016 olympics this month, Rokuro grabbed the opportunity to chat with Wolsh.. When did you start DJing & producing, did you start DJing first then move into producing? And, what or who were your early passions and influences? I started DJing in 2003, I was 13, at that time no one was looking for young djs so I decided to produce my own music. My influences were Daft Punk, Benny Benassi and Chemical Brothers. What do you personally consider to be the best moments in your musical artistic career so far? Definitetly 2015, when I performed in Tomorrowland Brazil. What is it about DJing, compared to, say, producing your own music, that makes it interesting for you? 10
Where do you usually start when preparing for a DJ set and starting a new track in the studio? Everything can inspire me, so I love long walks just to see the world around me. I am a “storyteller” on my sets, every single track needs to add something in my show. Can you tell our readers some of the best clubs you have played in Brazil? Green Valley, Laroc, Anzuclub so far, come if have chance these clubs will change your life! Do you use Rekordbox software to DJ in clubs or do you DJ on another format. And did you start out DJing with vinyl and CDs in the past? I was 13 and broke, that time my case was CDs and a small pack of Vinyls, after that I switched to Traktor, but now I use Rekordbox. Could you tell our more informed readers what DAW you use in the studio and some of you favourite software plugins to get your trademark sound? Logic 9, Serum, Sylent 1, Fabfilter Pro Q2 and Urs Strip pro compressor. I use Nexus 2 sometimes, you will see an amazing Vst if you use it wisely.

EN I started my music career 13 yeas ago, I didn’t have any support from my family and no computer to make my own music. But, I had a lot of willpower and courage to proceed in the music business. At that time I wrote down my ideas on a school notebook, and at the weekend I went to a friend’s house, because that was the only way to make music. For my gigs, I spoke to the manager and asked him to make me a DJ time schedule, usually this was the last 20 minutes, but I always kept the club going and this attracted some welcome attention. To this day, I still have that same willpower and have performed around the world. I created many projects at the beginning which were a little hit and miss, but I was getting closer and closer to my dream. To realise your dream is much easier than you think, but it’s no use just to believe, you also have to chase it.

Do you like to collaborate with other producers.. If yes, what benefits are there working with someone else compared to working alone in the studio? I love working with people that inspire me, when it happens, you will listen to our signature sounds mixing together and creating something great.
with new songs and of course a lot of Ids. What tips and advice would you give to young aspiring DJs and producers trying to get ahead in the music industry? Identity, no one has a serious career by imitating others. The sound that will put you in the spotlight will be the sound of your heart.
Do you feel a crowd is actually able to appreciate the intricacies of complex DJing, if they don't actually know what, precisely, is happening behind the decks? Nowadays, we have both in the club/ festival, for me, the perfect artist is the one that interacts with the crowd but aren't lacking the mixing art.
People are often speaking about the demise of the club scene, do you agree with this or do you feel the club remains a great place for the discovery and appreciation of electronic music? We are living dark days in the world, I think the club scene is magic. You can forget the problems, having fun Could you tell us which record labels and our mission is making the you have released tracks on so our happiness come back. readers can track down and buy your music? Santana in Milano, Italy, on 21th July 2016 I was dreaming to see Santana since childhood even before I got a guitar in my hands, so the gig was something personal to me. The show was great, starting surprisingly without a warm-up band. Carlos Santana appeared as an iconic guitar player saying long speeches about light, love and peace all around the world. The show was interesting as a musical event because all players were equally interesting for hearing their solo parts. As a guitar player, I was mostly focusing on solo guitar and at the same time I was amazed by super talented keyboardist David K. Matthews. He brings interesting solutions and improvisations to all Santana songs. Bravo! On the next day after the show, I met Carlos Santana at the heart of Milano, which is usually overcrowded by tourists and shoppers. It was as if you found a needle in a haystack, a one in a million chance! I waited whilst he finished with food and walked away from the cafe. At that moment some men asked him to have a photo. Then I came and asked his bodyguards to let me take a picture with Carlos, noting that I had traveled to Milano especially for his concert and it will not take more than three seconds. And [dramatic pause] they refused, mentioning that they are having a day off. Carlos was staring into the floor pretending I was not there - ‘nothing personal just business’. At that moment the world of legendary Santana was ruined inside me and I got the feeling that all that friendly attitude is a part of the show and means nothing in reality. It must be noted that during more than an hour just three people recognized him including me, not much as for such a pop star being in the most popular public place. Does he hate young fans that travel the world just to see him once in a lifetime? I don’t know, but I could not find the right words to tell it to my guitar teacher whom I asked to teach me to play like Santana many years ago. I couldn’t play his solos for a while. It is to be noted that we do not mean any negativity, the musical skills cannot be faulted, this simply refers to a difference of minds. 20

The Yoga Girl "...if we perform even the smallest task with imagination, our lives feel richer and more varied..." Scouting for the best overall yoga book, I came across 'Yoga For Real Life' by Maya Fiennes. The advice and options she gives are varied for many lifestyles which attracted my attention. What I later got to learn is that she is a musician! Of course, I would pick out the one yoga book by a musician. The way she speaks is warm and is something I feel I connect with very easily.
in the music industry. As a child, she would lose herself in the sounds from notes on a keyboard, this lead Maya to learn and love playing the piano. She chased the dream and ended up performing for glitzy events. She grew weary from just playing the notes off a page and found freedom in creating her own pieces. Maya explains that underneath all of our "wants" we will find our real untapped passion.
We do not need to be perfect. We do not need to be the best. Tapping into your imagination and exploring different avenues will give you lots of pleasure. Body Image Chronicles LaTosha Brown, the American RnB & soul singer, is an inspirational women doing great things across the pond. She is a strong activist, firmly standing up for positive beliefs and encourages LOVE. Just take a look at these photographs, completely untouched from edits. What do you see?
We see OPTIMISM + We see CONFIDENCE = We see JOY There, radiating a warm presence, stands a beautiful soul. Beautiful inside and out. LaTosha explains that she has had a stressful few years and just did not focus on her health and fitness. She gained some weight and did not feel comfortable in herself. On a vacay with her friends Tarana Burke and Vernetta Perkins, they had an inpromtu photo shoot. The girls encouraged LaTosha to "to accept myself and my body where I AM RIGHT NOW even as I work towards my fitness goals." Giving it her all, LaTosha took a look at the photos and realised she looked pretty good! "Kicking off my health and weight loss journey tomorrow. However today... I embrace all aspects of myself... just as I am." 26

Over the past few years, I have allowed myself to slack off of a real commitment to health. I have been blessed to be very healthy and quite frankly took it for granted. As I got older and started dealing with more serious life circumstances (and slower metabolism), I saw myself gain weight and embrace really bad habits. My excuse was 'I don't do drugs or anything bad for me, but, I just really like food.' The truth is food has been a drug for me. Additionally, I started to become lethargic and not physically active anymore. Not sure what came first - the weight or the laziness - but it seems there has been a symbiotic relationship between the two. Since my mom's passing, I am more aware of the value of health and LIFE in general. I want to live a long and healthy life. I want to feel good about myself. So, instead of beating myself up to lose the weight, I am going to love myself where I am and believe that the LOVE will help lead me wherever I choose to go. The LOVE will inspire me to address the additional weight. The LOVE will help me take charge of my health goals. It is the LOVE that will allow me to ACCEPT where I am now without feeling bad about myself. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be my best self and in optimum health. The first step towards that goal for me is starting with self love and self acceptance.

Hollaphonic's 'Surrounded By Bass' is a must for your summer bass playlist. My favourite aspect of this release is the fragmented beat structure. A sense of thrill is enforced. The release comes with a strong remix selection from FooR, Klip & Outlaw, K1R3Y and Scott Forshaw. Multi-award winning Hollaphonic, are the first ever electronic music act to be signed to a major label in the middle east. A total of 5 singles from the album reached top twenty across 8 countries. Their international hit track Dangerous ft.Vince Kidd has seen support from UK giants BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital FM, even landing the coveted spot as Sarah Jane Crawford's Smash of the Week on BBC 1xtra. Lyrics / Tekst We used to play cool Cooler than the hottest chick, lying on the grass of town We used to be smooth Smoother than the politics, waiting when it comes around So everything goes up, and then it goes back down Soon it goes back up, and it turns around So everything goes up, and then it goes back down Soon it goes back up, and it turns around In my bed it was amazing, I’m way to far of being lazy She used my head, it made me crazy, so that’s why everything always happens to me In my bed it was amazing, I’m way to far of being lazy She used my head, it made me crazy, so that’s why everything always happens to me Sure will happen to me, everything always happens to me Sure will happen to me, everything always happens to me We used to play cool Cooler than the hottest chick, lying on the grass of town We used to be smooth Smoother than the politics, waiting when it comes around So everything goes up, and then it goes back down Soon it goes back up, and it turns around So everything goes up, and then it goes back down Soon it goes back up, and it turns around In my head it sounds amazing, I’m not so far of being crazy I should have taken the occasion, so that’s why nothing ever happens to me In my head it sounds amazing, I’m not so far of being crazy I should have taken the occasion, so that’s why nothing ever happens to me Nothing ever happens to me, nothing ever happens to me, nothing ever happens to me

MAURITIUS
SNUG & WARM ATMOSPHERE Chilled cold Curepipe, Friday 8th of July. I forgot my lunch and needed to buy some food at the Arcades Currimjee. I wandered around to get a glimpse of what is being done and sold. I finally showed up in front of Librairie Le Trèfle where a children's book got my attention. I thought it would be great gift for my daughter. I decided to step in and got caught up by this snug and warm book shop, with some halogen lamps giving a great ambient light and adding some heat to the room. maximum. That was an awesome feeling. I could not hold myself from complimenting the shop assistant for that nice atmosphere and asked for the title of the first song which was still in my head; 'The HummingBird' - NeverShoutNever. I paid for my purchases and went for lunch.
The feeling was pushing inside; I went back to the book shop. I asked for the opportunity to write about that nice, warm, comfy atmosphere; which was greeted positively. Throughout the conversation with Amandine, we shared some titles and groups. Her first share is Mumford and Sons which I discovered with the title 'I will wait'. I messed it up by not noting it down, inverted the name while searching. I inadvertently discovered an amazing piece: 'The Stumble' - All Over Again. I had to call her back to confirm the group name and was glad to listen to some of the Mumford and Sons tracks. They are catchy and get you in the momentum they build up as the songs begin. I could hear my heart pounding with joy whilst the songs go along. The second share is in the same tone; Boy & Bear with 'A Moment Of Grace'. The title defines well this encounter, experience and sharing. I heartily thank the whole team of Librairie Le Trèfle for this nice setup and thank you Amandine for sharing. I truly enjoyed it! See you next time.
Even though I was in a book shop, my attention got snatched by the background music. A nice folk alternative ballad played in a nice and non-intrusive volume from a great sound system. I was sort of smiling while looking at the books. My joy was doubled when the starting -- Steve notes of 'Someday' from NickelBack sounded. It was as if I had my headphones on with the dynamic boost to the

Jason Lily Where the phenomenon originates? Jason Lily, born in 1988 in a family loving art and music, with mother MarieLine and father Sylvain, he had the calling to practice music in his childhood. It all started with playing harmonica at 6. His father created LariBluz in Curepipe, a meeting place where musical expressions can be celebrated. At the age of 12, he got in touch with jazz music at the Caudan Waterfront in the weekend shows. He met with Neshen Teeroovengadum, with whom he is playing with in the Fink Factor band. He also approached Patrick Theeboo who introduced him to battery. He started battery lessons with the latter and during that period had the opportunity to play with the musicians at LariBluz.

#FinkFactor The musical embrace has various shades for Jason. He is involved in two musical bands: Fink Factor and Maron’er. He was introduced to the group Fink Factor and was asked to join for a show on one Christmas Eve. The Casela Mizik held on the 2nd of July was an opportunity to see the group and Jason perform. The musicians in Fink factor are seasoned, full of resources and experience which is being cascaded down to him. This band experience gave Jason the opportunity to really get into the funk / soul / jazz style. He is taking up the challenges which are presented to him and helping him to grow, not only as a performer but, on some personal attributes as well. The groovy sound they have is awesome. I enjoyed every piece of this show and look forward for another live funky music with Fink Factor.
