She introduced me to artists such as NWA, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and dance music by listening to Pete Tong's essential mix weekly. I was then approached by the lovely Ruby to co-ordinate a baby music feature - I jumped at the opportunity! I decided to test out Freya's taste in music, and so far at the ripe old age of 3 months, she fell asleep to DJ Danny Howard on Radio 1! She cried a lot at KISSTORY but stopped her tears to 7 Years by Lukas Graham. After much practising and experimenting with different genres, it turns out I managed to pick up the art of DJing really quickly. I upgraded to the industry standard cdj2000s and took the leap of using my skills I had learnt to the airwaves and found a station called Radioactivefm, the managers gave me a weekly slot which I did for nearly two years. I got the chance to do some all day parties and meet some great people along the way. I’ve had a few studio sessions with the organ donors to improve my sets which I can hand down what I have learnt and share my experiences with.
I’ve been DJing for nearly 5 years now and played in bars, done mobile gigs and online radio shows which I have just recently got back to doing.

PRIDE 2016 As the paths and roads fill with every type of person you can imagine, all in rainbow make up and fancy dress, you soon come to realise what day it is. The one day a year every Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender person can be themselves without judgement. It’s Pride 2016 and as I walk down the road on a sunny Saturday afternoon, cold beer in hand, I look around and count myself so lucky to be sharing this day with my best ones. The crowd stops and all eyes are on the road as we remember the Orlando Shooting Victims and all tribute is paid to them, in that moment you feel so blessed. Rainbows decorate the shop windows and stall holders sell whistles and lanyards to passers by. Children look around in amazement at all the different colours in the air. The walk to the park is a fun one to be greeted at the gates by happy workers, music playing and happy screams from the fun fair rides. It’s a glorious day. It’s so important for people to have this day to celebrate who they really are. 24

To be yourself in a world that wants you to be someone else is so hard, but to those who do it are brave. Laying on the fresh cut green grass with my best friends around me, I realise how happy I am within myself. Be proud, be you always. With the music playing around me, I relish in the talent from Alisha Dixon dancing across the stage to Sister Sledge playing an oldie but goodie. It’s amazing how music and sunshine brings people together. Music is the glue that holds society together. Until next year Brighton, it was a pleasure. The LGBT community should be proud they put together a fantasic day and, I for one, am proud to be Gay.

'No Problems' is the new track from London producer/songwriter Hannah V new single featuring Max Marshall and Ama Schreyer. Reminiscent of Beyonce, oozing headstrong female spirit. We have seen a steady stream of material being released from her in the last year – the 2015 critically acclaimed ‘Version 2.0’ EP, her single ‘It Ain’t Right” that ended up being the soundtrack for a global Rimmel Campaign and her last single ‘I Ain’t The One’ featuring the husky vocals of London favorite Andreya Triana. 'No Problems' premiered by BBC Asian Network is a sparse, heavy hitting, 808 driven beast, with sashaying hi-hats and the usual Hannah V pianos and unusual harmonies we have now gotten used to. This track is much harder than Hannah’s previous releases and she says: ‘Music is meant to be a full representation of the human experience - and sometimes I feel hella confident! I wanted this track to reflect that unapologetic, decisive and strong element that is in all of us!” Hannah V is joined by Baltimore born, London based R&B singer Max Marshall who we know from her previous hit ‘Control’ with Joining Matrix & Futurebound, who adds her typical vocal Ama Schreyerthem is her previous collaborator ’No Problems‘ of 8sass to the mid. The song talks about this girl gang not wanting any drama - but gives any potential ‘haters’ this message: "Promise if you touch me, resolve quickly." www.soundcloud.com/hannahvofficial 29
We progress through the intro of Transcode's 'Kingpin' with a inquisitive state of mind, the rate quickens, heightened pitched then throws us into the drop. A heady rhythm follows. We are taken to a daring new place where the limits are endless. To kick-start the Shadow Series, where we aim to introduce our listeners to some harder and darker sounds, emerges Transcode. The young Manchurian specialises in dark and melodic techno, already touted as an upcoming star by techno giants Stil Vor Talent. His single see's two weighty remixes, the first of which is from German duo Kaiser Souzai, whom are popular among the European techno circuit and whom we are big fans of here in the Throne Room office. Kaiser Souzai's remix adds a main room element to the track, evolving the melody into what we can only describe as spectacular. The second remix is one we are extremely honoured to line up under our label, a simply brilliant take from multi-platinum producer Glenn Morrison. Most will know Glenn Morrison from his work with industry leaders like Sony Records and Universal Music Group as a writer, producer and recording artist. Rather than simply dipping our toes in the techno pool, Kingpin see's Throne Room dive in head first. www.soundcloud.com/throneroomrecs 30

The future sound comes from Norway based DJ/producer WNDR who has previously had releases on Sony Music, Crosswalk Records and Epic Tones Records.

The club night is just getting into it's groove as we get into '24 (I'm Yours)' by Mimsi featuring Twissman & Starboi. Hues of electric pinks and blues reflect the urban pop style. Oozing a seductive vibe with the hard bass and pairing of vocal effects.
“24 was great fun to write but even better to film thanks to the strong and talented team involved in the whole process." Mimsi “Love the tune. Big ups!” BBC introducing 39
In the back of a cab, Rob Richings sets off on his journey, the spotlights of the city twinkling away. His tender voice enters on top of the lovely indie/ country melody of 'Ten Seconds'. Rob Richings is a man making good on a promise to himself. The singersongwriter’s debut album ‘Parkas and Boots’ is a collection of observant and personal folk songs - the tales of a troubadour who knows too well how fragile life can be. It was a brush with death that gave Rob a new sense of perspective and renewed lease of life. In 2009 he was diagnosed with a rare and severe form of colitis, which after years of misdiagnosis, metastasised into cancer. Now, following three life-saving and life-changing operations Rob is thriving and can expect to live a relatively normal life. While on the road to recovery Rob decided enough was enough and it was time to get serious about his music. “I don’t want my illness to define what I do,” Rob says, “but at the same time, that illness and the way I look at life now has made me a better songwriter.” Rob’s songs are, understandably, incredibly poignant. After all, nothing quite focuses the mind on the past like the possibility of not having a future. “The album is quite nostalgic. The songs are about growing up and how I had a sense of openness and freedom. But then as I got older, life became more complicated and I realised how free and easy my childhood was." The songs on his debut solo album ‘Parkas and Boots’ carry gently positive messages that mark Rob out in a genre so often spent exploring life’s darker corners. 40

Pop Songs of the Summer.. The saying goes “Time flies when
you’re having fun.” Well this summer must’ve been HELLA fun because it flew, maybe because all the great music taking up the airwaves and dance parties. This post comes as a Top Ten list for all the pop songs that made Summer 2016 one to remember.
better, which is the overarching meaning of the song. He writes about his present life being so much greater than his life with his ex, Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, that he might as well throw bacon on it to make it that much greater. I saw this song live at the Honda Civic: Future Now Tour stop in Chicago, and the screens were showing clips of bacon frying in the pan through the whole song, it was hilarious! Great tune!
Charlie Puth featuring Selena Gomez: DNCE: We Don’t Talk Anymore Starting off the list on the emotional Toothbrush side, this song hits home with anyone who has experienced a break-up, or just is not as close with someone as you used to. Similar to the topic of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye, Puth and Gomez deliver a simple, yet fun song. The music video reenacts the lyrics perfectly in the two entities going about their day, not talking, hence, they don’t talk anymore.
Nick Jonas: Bacon From the second this song was released, I knew it was one of the most entertaining songs of the summer. I mean the title is bacon which always makes everything 42
Moving on from one Jonas Brother to the next, DNCE’s follow-up single to their smash “Cake By the Ocean” is still as entertaining in the message as the fact they named their band after a drunken typo of “dance” after a night out. It’s about getting to the point in a relationship where you feel comfortable leaving a toothbrush at your partner’s place. Not saying that everyone’s summer fling is at that point yet, but it could be used as a gateway to progressing the relationship to the upcoming holidays. Being a music video fanatic, the video for this song makes it so much better as it follows a cheesy love story between Joe Jonas and Ashley Graham. www.AudiationMagazine.com
Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna (AND TSWIZZLE!): This is What You Came For Well this song had the biggest controversy of the summer when Calvin Harris slammed Taylor Swift on social media post-breakup saying she was trying to stay relevant under his name. He also released that she co-wrote the song under pseudonym Nils Sjöberg, and sang some of the background “oohs” in the song, which are so easy to hear now! This totally explains why she was so gungho about it’s release and wore a jacket with it’s single art on it, thinking she was being a very supportive girlfriend, when in reality she was partly promoting her own work too. Sneaky, sneaky, Swift.
Mike Posner: I Took a Pill in Ibiza If you haven’t heard of Mike Posner before, you might remember his hit song “Cooler Than Me” back in 2009. Anyways, he made a major comeback with this fun song plainly about what the title says, taking a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii he was cool. But, the song goes onto a deeper perspective in being humbled and grounded, and how that the “high life” isn’t something that should be sought after. I was fortunate enough to meet Posner a couple times this summer, and he really explained that he isn’t in it for the fame and fortune, he just wants to spread his message and his
art with the world, and that has always been his dream. That in itself was very humbling and inspiring to hear. ALSO, if you haven’t seen him live, please do so! His band is incredible, playing in my book almost every instrument. A bunch of boys jumping around on stage making music, that’s what it’s all about.
Demi Lovato: Body Say This song was dropped over the 4th of July weekend with no promo. She wrote the song a couple weeks prior and didn’t want to wait, she just put it out there for her Lovatics to hear, and now it is all over the radio. One of the sexiest songs of the summer, it was a powerful move after her breakup with long-term boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama. She has some sexy songs, but not this blatant, and all I can say is good for her!
Justin Timberlake: Can’t Stop the Feeling Not going to lie, this song had to grow on me to make the list. But the amount of times I’ve caught myself tapping my foot, shaking my hips and singing along made me realize it was a catchy tune that definitely outlined Summer 2016. It is a song written for the movie Trolls, but it is nothing short of fun, and that’s what summer is all about.
43
Britney Spears: Make Me Another sexy song released by the queen of sexy herself, Britney. Featuring G-Eazy, it’s a song daring someone to basically make her move. The chorus lights up dance floors, and the video follows her and her friends flirting with one lucky man.
DRAKE By this, I mean all things Drake. From “Too Good”, to “Controlla”, to “One Dance”, he has many hits this summer that can’t be narrowed down to one. Maybe a street mix of his music would do the trick? Find that at the nearest club. Yes, this is all opinion, and there are many that could’ve and should’ve made the list, but those can be listed as our own honorable mentions. Agree with my list?
