THE ACT OF COMPASSION

by David

"Be kind to one another." The statement is well-loved, but do we adhere to it? My thoughts are quite troubled in these times of darkness and have become slightly disorientated. To make sense of it, you must first allow yourself to be vulnerable and then bask yourself in the light. All that matters in life is that we show compassion to others and that we live a life of integrity and to try to give back in any sort of way. It is truly a blessing to be able to help someone out. Happiness is right in front of us but many of us put importance on the wrong things; material possession, physical appearance, and physical prowess. In retrospect, do these things really mean anything? Is any of this the key to happiness? While there is nothing wrong in having fortunes, fame, or power, etc... A balance is needed and this world is so unbalanced! True beauty is a person who is kind, loving, forgiving. True wealth is having an abundance of heart and family and friends to share it with. I fear these values are truly becoming lost! Growing up in this harsh society, we were taught to harden our hearts in order to avoid getting hurt. But all we're doing is closing ourselves up to the energy of hope and faith! So instead of building walls and confining ourselves, why not open up our windows and let the sun illuminate our souls! And as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. 10

www.AudiationMagazine.com

Your own soul is nourished when you're kind. When you're good to others, you're really doing yourself a favor. Your own soul is being strengthened. Your own life is being enriched. I think that we would find enlightenment from treating our souls right. When we feed it with right energies, our mind would fill with positive thoughts and our hearts with love. Our mouths would only preach positive messages and we would perform acts of selflessness. And as we open ourselves to the world, the world would open doors for us. Just a simple act of kindness can change your world. It can be as little as smiling to a stranger

or forgiving your enemies, to helping an old lady with her groceries or donating to support a good cause. Happiness and satisfaction does not come as a result of something we don't have but rather of recognising what we can do for others and appreciating what we do have. Spread love to those around you! Christmas In The Sun I simply love Christmas! Since being a kid I enjoy every piece of this merry season. Even now, being grown-up and father of two I still enjoy the magical state that only this season can bring. For sure, in Mauritius we do not have The White Christmas but rather a Christmas in the sun or in the sand. The celebration kicks off at the start of November with kids' end of year party at kindergarten and schools but I'll be honest, Santa Claus songs have been sounding since September by my lil one. What I enjoy the most is the Christmas carols. I can listen to these for hours, in various styles: jazz, traditional, classical, reggae and even played in sega. The group Abaim (www.abaim.mu) has done a great Mauritian version of the Christmas carols with the album 'Enn Nwel Larkansiel'. The songs played in their well anchored and recognisable style bring a fresh note which can be experienced on the song 'Alime Teyn' which is another version of Jingle Bells. This album might be a perfect gift for Christmas. It can be purchased can on iTunes, Deezer, CD Baby. Christmas for me is all about the joy of being together and sharing good times. I'm looking ahead for the meals shared with loved ones, also enjoying the carolling at the conservatory's Songs For The Season concert, my mum's traditional Christmas cake and the last minute Christmas shopping. All these mix up to create a unique moment that I will love to share with those getting on board for our jolly journey. Well for you chaps, my share for this Christmas is from Christophe Rey. 'Xmas In The Sun' is a nice song with a jazzy note inviting Santa for a beer while having his toes in the sand. If ever you want to try a different Christmas as depicted in Christophe's song, come over to Mauritius and we will be dashing through the sand, then resting on the white beach with tongs on our sandy feet, while sun tanning and holding a fresh Mauritian brew. Merry Christmas Y'all and family!

Carl Cox: Space is the Place 01 Dec 2016, 00:05 Channel 4 Music On 4 presents the documentary from legendary DJ Carl Cox. Carl Cox is a dance music titan. For the best part of 40 years, he has been one of the most recognisable figures in house and techno, as famous for his toothy grin and boundless energy as his blistering sets. He's popular the world over, but nowhere more so than Ibiza, where he’s held a recordbreaking residency every summer for the past 15 years. That all came to an end in September 2016, when Space, the club that was home to Cox's Music Is Revolution party, shut for good. The closure marked the end of an era for Cox, but also for Ibiza, which lost one of its best-loved venues at a time when flashy VIP culture looms ever larger over the scene. This film follows Cox across the 2016 season in Ibiza, from the Music Is Revolution opening in June through to the closing in September. It offers a behind-the-scenes perspective on a momentous slice of clubbing history, as well as an honest and insightful window into Cox's life inside, and away from, the DJ booth. This is the story of a clubbing icon coming to terms with the next phase of his career, and of a clubbing island facing up to an uncertain future. The film opens with Cox setting the scene for the final night of his Ibiza residency over slow motion shots of Space and a motorbike ride through the French countryside. From there we travel to Space's world-famous Discoteca for soundcheck, while various voices from across dance music wax lyrical about the club, Ibiza and Cox's extraordinary magnetism as a performer. More euphoric shots of Space play underneath. Then the pace slows suddenly: we're relaxing at Cox's villa, before driving back to Space for the opening party. Pepe Rosello, the club's 80-year-old owner and a central figure in the story, is introduced shortly after with shots of him dancing and clutching a glass of champagne. 20

Absolutely love the vinyl only 'Tuff Jamz EP' by Karl "Tuff Enuff" Brown & Dub Jamz. This is the amazing sounds of uK Garage. Fun, bumpy and sexy with classic simplicity. We are back - bringing that raw and funky Garage vibe to vinyl & kicking off our artist series with a selection of original Underground Garage artists from back in the day - so who better to start off such a release with no other than an innovator of that scene and mastermind behind those Tuff Jam beats, Mr Karl "Tuff Enuff" Brown. The A-Side or ( Tuff side) contains an unreleased special version of his infamous Intro's which has been sought after since the late 90s. For the second track, Karl Brown created a heavy, funky anthem called "So Good . The B-Side or ( Jamz side) will also consist of two tracks from Dub Jamz to celebrate the old Garage vibe, bringing back a sound we all love. This release cements everything we stand for with our label, simply Underground Garage - bringing back all the memories to the oldskool lovers of this sound as well as teaching the younger generation the roots of this Garage genre. Majestic's brand new single 'Raised In The 90s' is simply ADDICTIVE! Going straight in with fresh bass and a lively flow, this is a killer track reminiscing about, by far, the coolest decade ever! The fast-paced video connects really well with the track with dancing and imagery that will get any 90s kid excited. Let's go back through A to Z, playing Just In Case on loop and stinking of Joop! www.majesticofficial.com

Behind our well-loved tracks are talented producers who have an incredible ability to mould and shape sounds creating a complete work of art. Rdubz is most definitely one of those talented folk, though he is very humble and would not be one to show off greatness. Many may know his work with his sister & singer Leanne Louise and singer Leah Lost, in fact the first track I heard of his was 'Crazy' with Leanne. Rdubz is able to work his magic with loads of different genres and have fun with the production process. You can always hear the passion and experimentation in his music. "I'm all over the place at the moment, dubstep one minute, melodic down tempo the next, 3 track house EP that may end up being released (not sure yet), all over the gaff. Just gotta make what you want and feel I think, not sure where I'll go next yet, have to see what comes out next time I sit down!" Rdubz His latest track 'David' has a main vocal clip running through of contacting a spirit with the same name. The no-nonsense, gritty dubstep track moves you on this journey into the darkness. Scaramanga Silk's debut album 'Designer Scribble' displays a wonderfully dark, intricate formation of sounds and textures. Hailing from an electronic core, the artist is clearly a product of the rave era but with a forward looking and experimental twist that encompasses other influences such as funk, techno, ambient, drum & bass, jazz, dub, r&b and more. When all these elements combine the resulting concoctions are heritage hybrids with a modern leftfield take. To be released on Micro Spiral. www.scaramangasi.lk

Presenting the 'Night Shift EP' by Milen which has a feelgood factor running throughout. Commencing with the progressive track 'Night Shift', it leads us into the night with eager anticipation for fun. 'Split' takes an atmospheric turn with a traversing female voice and then throws out a great driving force. The final part of the trio is 'Lakeside' which is simply the piece de resistance - this floorfiller is set to get the party jumping with a vibrant and lively tone. Milen explains that the creation process spanned across a year having been experimenting with various other genres. The triad of sounds are 'inspired by three different events: Work and two music festivals.' www.awjrecordings.com 31

David Penn & KPD's 'Brothers & Sisters' is a refreshingly lighthearted, funky release. Complete with flavourful sunshine beats and infectious grooves. Someone get me a coconut drink coz I'm heading to the beach! “We love to work together, KPD really likes the old school music but he didn´t live in that time, so in the studio, we love to leave our minds to create something with that vibe but with a recent sound. Love this sexy urban collaboration from Coco ft Shola Ama & Deep Green titled. 'Waters Run Deep' is full of passion and emotion throughout. The city lights shine on Shola's softness against the bolder movements of the lads. Coco continues his rapid ascent with the compelling ‘Waters Run Deep’ featuring an inspired collaboration with the urban scene’s sweetheart, Shola Ama and fellow Sheffield spitter, Deep Green. As premiered via SBTV, the video radiates soft lighting and a gentle glow, much like the instrumental bed that show a warm and deeper edge to Coco’s sound as he leads his vocals from Shola Ama on the opening hook. From the instrumental, the variance in tone of the three contributing vocals accentuates mystery and empathy, whilst we get a raw edge of reality both visually, from the contrast of the urban landscape, through to the audio and the rougher vocals of Coco and Deep Green. www.soundcloud.com/TheCocoUK 34

When I hear JaJaJa, it makes me want to dance with a big smile on my face! A fierce intro leads us to a great edgy, electronic energy. Put your hands in the air, this is a smash hit! We had the chance to chat with Mary Jane about the release on Kingside Recordings...

Every artist lives because of smiles of their fans. There is my soul and my point of view of this world in my sets. I am trying to use my remixes and tracks in every set as much as possible. It is a huge art for me and I am thoroughly preparing for every performance.

What were the initial ideas and What things in life make you say inspiration for the new release? "JaJaJa"? The main idea was to make people think what JaJaJa means... It's not just a funny track, everyone can observe their own history in it.

My nearest plans are to spend my time Process of production of this track in working about upcoming singles was not easy. It is my first track that as much as possible.
