Forthcoming Albums We made it! Happy 2018 everyone. New songs are released everyday, but albums are more special. Here is a list of album releases I CANNOT WAIT to listen to in 2018...
Camila Cabello Camila. If you’ve read some of my articles in the past, you know how much of a fan I am of Cabello. I’ve followed her since her X Factor days, and I could always tell she had something more than the other Fifth Harmony girls. That’s why I was ECSTATIC to learn she was going solo and was writing her own album. She is young, but wise beyond her years and can write beautiful, poetic lyrics that will be sure to make an emotional album. Album slated to drop January 12.
Justin Timberlake Man of the Woods. I’m calling it, this year will be Timberlake’s year. He already released the first song on the album called “Filthy,” which is a sound I personally have never heard before. It needs to be listened to loud, as he put it when sharing the music video link on social media. The electronic track on the song powers over the lyrics, causing us to naturally turn it up to hear the words. It is pure genius, and a tell-tale sign to the future of music. I’ve read mixed reviews of the song so far, and people aren’t happy about it. But, think back to when he released “Sexyback,” people didn’t like it and now it is most people’s choice song on a party playlist. Timberlake knows what he is doing, and is doing it very well. Change is good. Album slated to drop February 2. 12
www.AudationMagazine.com
Charlie Puth Voicenotes. Initially slated to drop on January 19, Puth just announced he is pushing the release date back because he is producing the album himself. Dang. Writes, sings PERFECT pitch and produces his own music. Charlie Puth is a TRUE musician whose music I am so excited to hear. I’m guessing the album will release sometime early spring since he is going on tour this summer with Hailee Steinfeld. Since he is puTHing the album release date back, he released an already produced song with Boyz II Men called “If You Leave Me Now .”
The 1975 Although Matty Healy had been promoting this album since the middle of last year, the FINAL 1975 album should be coming out on June 1. I believe it is called Music for Cars, but don’t quote me on that. Even though it is suggested to be the last album, Healy talked about he is working on music for his next project called Drive My Way. It’s been a while since the last The 1975 album, and we need more of their work. Now.
Kanye West Turbo Grafx 16. This album is neither confirmed or has a set release date, but a couple weeks after he released The Life of Pablo¸ he tweeted the name of his next album. Hopefully, it will be released this year, but depending how much he wants to market his last album, we might be getting new Kanye this year. 13
Arctic Monkeys Again, no set name or release date, but in September the band said they were working on an album for late 2018, but, in my opinion, depending on producing and label terms that might come out later. Do I Wanna Know when it is dropping YES! Can we hack their system?
Nick Jonas AGAIN, no set name or release date, but following his single release “Find You, and with his Golden Globe nomination craze, he would be stupid not to put out a new album now while his name is RED HOT! He did say it was coming in early 2018, but time will tell when we get our hands on it.
Do you have an album you are looking forward to in 2018? Let us know who I missed in this list! Tweet at us @AudiationMag.

Chillout...
Hammock - Things of Beauty Burn Breathtaking. A long progressive first section reflecting a sincere heart, a curious though timid mind and the hope for something more. The sublime increase in depth, in strength, this rising faith in one’s self. The strength to keep going and believe‌ believe it will be okay.
Alicks - Empathy A pleasing state of relaxation beams through greatly. A gentle feeling of ease to the mind. Once suitably lulled, we have an intense and gripping twist. This dark yet thrilling statement which empowers us.
LWKGD - Sorry Conversing birds and an enchanting forest scene is painted as a natural base to this piece. Every single note and element is delicately crafted into a serene and stunning composition. Easing between the still calmness to a vivid spark of joy. 15

pride of everybody mixed together and creating their own culture. That sense of fighting through colonialism and creating something unique and exciting.”
Walshy Fire 1st December 2017 saw international artist Walshy Fire take to the stage in Grand Baie, Mauritius. We were proud to sponsor the event which was hosted by Urban Pulse. Thank you to Summer for representing us on this occasion and being able to understand Walshy Fire from an artist’s perspective. Walshy Fire was a joy to welcome to the island with his humble persona. He was not only interested in the gig, but also of the history and origins of Mauritius - he even learned a little creole to be at one with the locals. ‘We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.’ This quote from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin came to mind upon meeting with him as he is able to value others and connect on a human level.
It is to be appreciated that when Walshy Fire speaks of music or his vision of the world, he relates to his Jamaican roots. His heart is still there wherever he is, keeping the people and the love of Jamaica with him. In regards to this, he also explains the following, “I represent the region of the Caribbean. That includes Zouk, Soca, Kompa, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Reggae, Dancehall - so it encompasses all. Do I feel like I’ve accomplished that? No. I feel like this is going to be a lifelong mission and I’m thankful for the little accomplishments, I have gotten people who have never heard this kind of music before and now, through Major Laser, are able to research who Celia Cruz or Peter Tosh is. THere’s a lot more work to do for sure. I’ll be doing this for the rest of my life.” When speaking of the crowd’s expectations, Walshy Fire explained that all he hoped for is that “everybody comes with an open mind and an open heart to receive a good positive message and a great atmosphere with a lot of fun.”
When speaking of Mauritius, he felt it was reminiscent of his home On the night of the event, he lit up country of Jamaica, “there is this the stage from within. Full of energy, 17
it was not a feeling that he was simply putting on a show, he really enjoyed himself and imparted that good feeling to the audience. Whilst on the island, Walshy Fire was also introduced to Kaya - Seggae Man, which he loved. “I put out a lot of dancehall and reggae music right now. I started on something called ReggaeVival, I’m going to really start pushing reggae music through that label, that’s why I would love to meet Seggae artists. Listening to that beat - it totally translates to my side of the world. Why has no one heard about this? It is not anyone’s fault, maybe because of the language barrier, but even some of those songs were in English. When I look at what my job is, or what I’m here to do - my purpose - I look at Seggae, and I look at the bridge that needs to be built between Seggae and the world. I consider myself the person that can help build that bridge.” Since this event, he has teamed up with Reggaeville.com to present the ReggaeVival mixtape series which will showcase up and coming reggae artists. In 2018, you can expect to hear more Reggae from Walshy Fire and perhaps even Seggae music being enjoyed across more of the world. Yeah man! www.walshyfire.com www.reggaevival.com

Freshlyground - I'd Like
ON SCREEN
We are really excited that our soulful singing friend Oggie is gracing the UK’s television screens alongside 99 more music minds on the judging panel. The concept of this new singing competition on BBC One is to simply get as many of the 100 to singalong with you. In theory, the better your performance, the more judges will sing and the higher your chance of getting through to the grand final. All Together Now, hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, is a brand new sixpart entertainment series for anyone who believes their voice could win them £50,000. A competition with a twist, All Together Now sees a range of talented singers take to the stage to perform in front of The 100 - a unique panel of music experts and performers from all over the UK. If any of The 100 like what they hear, they can stand up, join in and sing along. The greater the number that join in, the higher the act’s score. At the end of the series, one act will walk away with the amazing cash prize. So, who can get The 100 on their feet and singing along? Heading up The 100 is pop icon Geri Horner. As a member of the Spice Girls, the best-selling girl group of all time, Geri knows exactly what it takes to get a crowd joining in and singing along. The 100 are all passionate about music and performance, with big voices and even bigger opinions. Geri will be joining them to offer her expert advice as a performer and provide support and encouragement to the contestants. Each week, a whole array of talent will perform. From soloists to groups, amateurs to professionals, they’re all united by a love of singing. The acts take to the stage in the hope of winning over The 100, and making it into the top three. The winner is guaranteed a place in the final, with the acts in 2nd and 3rd place each performing another great song in a dramatic sing-off. The winner of the sing-off also goes through to the final. Watch All Together Now on Saturdays, 7:15pm on BBC One. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05rmg71

I love ‘Power’ by Chris Brogan and Nicole Tyler! A fantastic, upbeat vibe bringing the love straight to the party. The Electronic Youth edit is dark and intriguing with a moody bass. Kicking off the new year right, we bring you bright, funky beats from London based talent Chris Brogan. With his original mix, 'Power', Brogan plays with danceable piano lines and explosive drum builds, enlisting the vast vocal range of Nicole Tyler to create a layered sound primed and ready to impress. Electronic Youth provide the reworks. Up first their vocal mix, where, leaving Tyler's winning vocals intact, they provide a punchier backdrop, with a lower-slung melody and smoother range. Before bringing their re-crafted sound to the forefront, stripping out the vocals for their instrumental mix. Two solid additions to this stunning EP. The ‘Communication EP’ by Gordon John comprises of a gritty trio of sounds with a rhythmic pace and indistinct yet well-thought out vocal cuts rounding things off. Smashing into 2018 with some of the biggest, energy-packed beats we've heard in a while, we bring you talent-heavy DJ/producer Gordon John, with his huge new drop, 'Communication EP'. Full of peak time sounds and tongue-in-cheek titles, this exciting OneFold DGTL release kicks off with fast-paced, churning beats and seamlessly entwined vocal samples in 'Do You Even Lift Bro?'. John follows this up with shuffling, crowd-pulling beats in 'Got A Light Bruv?', and ends on a huge, thumping smash in the making, 'Wot's Dis Tune Fam? ', ready to ignite dance floors with its whirring synths and echoing vocal loops.

Take a walk along the beautiful sandy shores of California with the new video for ‘My Muse’ by Karina Nistal. The vibrant house production together with a smooth, alluring voice evokes summery vibes whilst the sweet theme of affection warms hearts. The sun shines gloriously upon the easy-going scene of friends enjoying life. Although it is speaking of him, the message also has an air of confidence saying that no matter what happens, I feel good in myself. Karina Nistal kindly shared a few words with us. The video... I was talking to my friend Erica, who I met while working a background acting job, and she was getting a few projects together. She told me she wanted to direct a video for me and put this team of amazing women together. It was very organized and well put together. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more. The scenes were magical and it's turned out to be my dream video... everything I've ever dreamed of having in a video. 28

The muse... I was inspired to write this song over someone that I felt very drawn and attracted to. I wasn't sure if he was reciprocating at the time but our relationship definitely grew. Then we decided we would make better friends but I still find him very inspiring. The future... I've been recording a lot of new tracks. I guess it's safe to say I'm pulling together my next album. I have probably 1-2 projects that will be released before then but I'm really excited about the music that's coming together. I'm about halfway there and I hope my audience will be receptive to it. I'm doing more Spanish on this one and it feels good. :) www.karinanistal.com

‘Addicted’ by Deeptrak and Paul Hardcastle Jr featuring Raff has a great beat you can groove to. The vocals are really catchy and appealing. I’m addicted! This track originally started life as a collaboration with Louie Rei of WSTRN but due to some major label politics we had to have a rethink. After seeing Raff perform as part of the House Gospel Choir we reached out to him to ask him if he’d like to re-vocal the track and Addicted was born. It is due out in January via Artist Intelligence Agency, a nontraditional U.S. music outlet who are behind www.edm.com and we enlist a couple of pals on remix duties in the form of fellow Essex artist Dare Me who flips the script with a driving instrumental remix and Vamos Music main man Rio Dela Duna who has created a more tribal, percussive remix. www.deeptrak.co.uk 30

’S.E.X.’ by Danny Blaze is a little bit of delicious smut yet intriguing in the way that dark bluntness is shown. The moody tone is thrilling whilst the little quirky peeps of sound add flair. “I made it as a cross between Pulse X and Jax Jones Housework so it would have both House & Garage appeal… tbh I wasn’t and still don’t know what genre the track fits into.” Danny Blaze www.soundcloud.com/iamdannyblaze 31

It’s official, the original members of the Artful Dodger duo are back! Under the new name of Original Dodger, their classic style shines through in their two new releases. ’Millionaire’ featuring Daecolm X P Money X DaVinChe is a fantastic first track to launch the comeback with a simple and slick production, little flickers of sparkle and really nice fluctuation of atmospheric depth throughout. Vocal-wise, we have the interesting contrasts between a soft chorus, tough verses and passionate high sections. ‘Find Space’ with Shakka is the second release with a dark bass, choppy beats, bumpy notes and melodic vocals. This is a very instantly catchy track, appealing with a lively spirit. www.soundcloud.com/ theoriginaldodge r

Daniel Wanrooy presents the ‘Revolt & Highway 1’ EP, both tracks reach an exciting peak to fuel the dancefloor. ‘Revolt’ holds a strong sense of energy with depth and purpose. ‘Highway 1’ has a darker edge with a suspense-building driving force of the hard synth. “I made this EP during the fall. Highway 1 has the great memories of the times I have been to this place in California, with powerful synths and pretty melodies. Revolt is the flipside of the uhmmm mp3 and is more a "hands-in-the-air" track with big pads and and nice driving basslines.” Daniel Wanrooy No stranger for the Trance scene and High Contrast, Daniel Wanrooy, is back with a two track EP on High Contrast Recordings! Revolt & Highway 1 consists of two like-named tracks. Both Revolt and Highway 1 maintain the classic euphoric sound of Daniel Wanrooy, but are definitely ready for 2018! www.danielwanrooy.com

‘Skin’ by Royal Flush is a wonderful little trio of well-crafted, bumpy UK Garage. The title track is a lovely and light production, almost sensual with the vocal. ‘Got Myself Together’ has a tone which evokes a sense of curiosity. ‘Hold Me Down’ is a sweet and amorous track with a subtle funky element. Slime Recordings new sister label Downplay is proud to present ‘Skin’, the brand new EP from Birmingham production duo Royal Flush. Kicking off the imprint in style, ‘Skin’ employs a well-loved vocal set to a skittering 2-step groove, chopping bars against subtly melodic keys and intricately deployed percussion, before then letting the rhythm hit you in a 4x4 switch-up on the second drop to really raise the roof. ‘Got My Self Together’ mines similar soulful material, pitching a diva vocal sample alongside soothing chords and glittering FX to mesmerizing effect. ‘Hold Me Down’ alters the template again with a summertime jam complete with sensual vocals, bubbling basslines and a classic UKG beat that brings the whole track together beautifully. Royal Flush are a Birmingham-based production duo featuring OhJaye and Seanie C. With several releases under their belt for labels like Highly Swung and Ultra Bass, they are carving out a name for themselves in the UKG scene with their fresh and unique take on the classic Garage sound with a modern twist. www.facebook.com/DownplayRecordings 37

The gorgeous voice shines incredibly in 'Hourglass' by Jo Cooper, alongside these top House edits, GODDARD’s being an absolute floorfiller! House of 8 kick off 2018 with a future classic from Jo Cooper. Australian vocalist, Jo Cooper is no stranger to the scene having notched up a string of successful tracks over the past few years which have featured the likes of Hoxton Whores. Her album 'Wildfire' went on to gain International acclaim while her previous single 'Running Free' went on to gain substantial support from a global list of heavy-weights. New single ‘Hourglass’ features the unique sounding Mr E remixes. Atmospheric and peak-time he makes the most of a wicked vocal from the Aussie songstress. Melodic yet driving this has a real classic peak time house feel. The Mr E Dub does exactly what it says on the tin: Muting the vox and pumping it into an underground tech house gem. Designed for late nights and packed floors it’s a set of club mixes with global floor appeal. www.8houserecords.co.uk 39
‘Atom’ by RNX is a journey through the abyss. There is a futuristic mood with thought-provoking ideas of the universe. Robert Nickson delivers on every level, probably one of the reasons why he is known behind-the-scenes as the ‘producer’s producer’ when it comes to Trance. Under his RNX guise Nickson takes things deeper – much deeper. Atoms is a prime example of the RNX sound with its mutating arpeggiator lead, Italo-esque bass line and gritty spoken-word sample. On the remix we welcome back the legend that is Vadim Zhukov; a man synonymous with edgy, groove-propelled tech-infused progressive trance deliciousness. His remix is built upon tight, crisp, Sauvignon Blanc percussion (that’s ‘dry’ if you’re not a wine connoisseur!) and brash, gritty synth work. Two complimentary mixes, one slamming release. ‘Suddenly’ by Mir Omar is a lovely production with delightful little notes and a beautiful piano melody. This is absolutely beautiful, a 12 minute excursion into the deep. Mir Omar hails from New York City, a quiet unassuming guy who just happens to have a real talent for producing subtle, warm & emotional progressive music. ‘Suddenly’ is a combination of ethnic percussive tones, incessant rhythms, analogue sequencers & spacious pads. A nod of respect to that man.

The ‘Moonlighting EP’ by Karl Sierra is really fun and vibrant trio of sounds. I love the little funky elements which really add a lot of flair. Our 48th release comes from Sydney’s emerging house music talent, Karl Sierra. Karl first appeared on our radar with a dope deep house track ‘Underground Talk’ which we snapped up for our ‘Essential Rhythms’ series. This ‘Moonlighting EP’ is a dope 3 track EP showcasing Karl’s production skills by formulating a soulful, funky and deeper house EP to slot perfectly into the Australian summer season. ‘Moonlighting’ grooves solidly with a hypnotic chord, shimmering arps and background melodies, a real deep house essential. Then Karl Fuses disco elements with classic funky house to create the stripped back Rhodes led cut, ‘Cos’ Of You’. Finally is ‘Calabria Funk’ with a brass synth and all the NuDisco feels perfect for the sunshine. www.soundcloud.com/bobbinheadmusic 41

Crude. Fierce. Headstrong. These are just a few words that describe ‘Booty Like Nicki’ by Cianna Blaze. This release is definitely one that takes you aback with the raw attitude and upfront theme. Her punchy voice pairs well with the rough and bass-driven production. The music video is cool with a grungy monotone colour effect, subtle flashes and raunchy scenes. “Booty Like Nicki” is the long-awaited single from British rapper Cianna Blaze, taken from her debut EP “Get Mine” due for release 16th Feb 2018. Her sound is described as “Rage Against the Machine meets Andre 3000”…fierce but with a dancefloor killing vibe. It’s everything you would expect from a fresh and feisty female…quick wit and sleek rap skills on slick beats. “The sound I’m bringing is difficult to pigeon hole as it has influences from different styles of music merged into one,” explains Cianna. “I never want to copy others, so I do my own thing and just go with whatever feels right.” Cianna first drew attention from fans whilst performing as a hype MC at grime and drum and bass raves and festivals. Through this she performed with Maxim (The Prodigy), which led to the two working together in the studio. Cianna’s last release “On Fire”, which included a club-banging remix by Mob Tactics and a glossy music video which received more than 10k views. The single gained support from trendsetting blogs such as Your EDM, LSD Magazine & Magnetic Mag. MC Cianna Blaze is no music newbie. She has been building a loyal fanbase through her hard-edged vocals and unique style. Cianna is strong-minded person who thrives on female empowerment and incorporates a sense of strength and dominance in her music. From hitting the mic at festivals and drawing on the raw energy of the crowds to delivering distinctive guest vocals, Cianna has gained industry wide respect. Her releases include ‘808’ feat Audra Nishita, ‘Phase Me’ feat D Dark and ‘Baddest Breed’, recorded with Maxim from Prodigy on the Label Death Drum Rebel and work with Christian Hoffmann’s Toronto is Broken, all of which have kept her at the forefront of the scene. www.ciannablaze.com

‘Intension’ by Milad E has a bright, upbeat atmosphere. The lively energy is great for getting the crowd dancing. InfraProgressive's 2018 account opens with a stellar debut from a new fresh face on the circuit in the form of Milad E. Arriving in style, Milad delivers the sublime sounds of 'Intension'. REWIND 2017
Pop, Pride and Prejudice Aired on Channel 4, the documentary tells the journey of gay culture beautifully through music over the decades. And it's amazing to see how music did and still does have such a huge positive impact to many people. While politicians and protestors focused on legal reform, another struggle was going on – the battle for hearts and minds. The fight to win mainstream status for queer culture was waged, and won, by a group of pioneers who used popular music as the stage for a revolution. Put simply: it was pop music that made it OK to be gay. Channel 4 marks this momentous anniversary with the story of the fearless & flamboyant artists– from global icons to hidden heroes – who used pop music as gay culture’s Trojan Horse, seducing us all with a soundtrack to die for. In this current age, it's hard to picture the creative world being tarnished for associations with gay people. But only in a creative stance were people able to express themselves and fight back with a strong force. Because passion without substance can only go so far.
explaining that she yearned to share her true self. David Bowie iconically "startled people" as he says, enjoying rebelling and showcasing his colourful persona. Gospel came onto the scene too with a soulful sense of empowerment as shown in Sylvester's 'You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)'. With public liberation rising, the law struck down hard, but this only made people stand up for themselves more which reflected in the music too with Tom Robinson's 'Glad To Be Gay'. Boy George, another legendary act who was not afraid to be different, stated his desire to help make more people "tolerant" to different ways of living. Music and attitudes became more bold and brave, ignoring any sense of taboo discussion as shown in Frankie Goes to Hollywood's 'Relax'. Channel 4's own commissioning editor at the time, Alan Fountain, gave the camera to the LGBT+ community allowing them to reveal more of their world. Gay people were here to say, out loud and proud. "Music gave me a way of imagining myself." Liz Naylor, Catcall Records founder "In the closet perhaps you made more money, had a wider fan-base, but there's no authenticity in that." My Love I can't remember why we're acting so mad Tear soaked pillows and right now we're facing back to back
Some days may not seem easy, but I just need you to believe me.
Time is ticking and yet all we're doing is screaming We said we loved each other, then why aren't we listening?
Without you I feel incomplete.
Now that we've been battered and bruised Fighting over nothin', can we call a truce?
My love, I know we'll make it through.
When we mistrust and mistreat We only end up in defeat We said we loved each other, So let's look out for one another
Hold on to me and I'll hold on to you. Yours, David

Josh Lasden The Belgian DJ and producer celebrates 10 years of his El Futuro Recordings label. Futuristic music... Futuristic music has always been the aim of the El Futuro concept that started in 1998. For the radio show, events and the label, that specific futuristic character has been the general or red thread. We just want to provide music that’s not based on a temporary period in the electronic music adventure and still can move people today. Some music genres are having a down and up period in means of popularity. For example, the track 'Wavecatcher' still moves people today, this track was made in 2005 and was first played by Laurent Garnier in 2007 during a dj set in Cielo (New York) and finally got released in 2008 featured in the Futuristic Music Part 2 EP. Armin van Buuren supported the track from the beginning in 2008 and selected it in 2012 again for his A State Of Trance #550 podcast episode and we’re still getting great feedback for this track today. Tracks such as 'Love At Breakfast', 'U & I', 'Wednesday Morning', 'Emotions', 'Deep Blue Sea' and 'Fundamental Frequencies' are all holding that same futuristic idea. So, I feel that the futuristic character of the whole El Futuro concept is succeeding.
You really should go to the following: Fuse, Café d’Anvers, La Rocca, Versuz, Krush, Lagoa, Balmoral and Decadance. Plus the new ones: Forty Five, Labyrinth Club, Kompass and Ampere. They all have that special warm vibe you’ll be looking for. The Ipanema beach bar on top of the Versuz club during the summer is fabulous, creating a lounge with a pool, beach and great atmosphere. We have must visit festivals as well such as Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Dour, Extrema Outdoor and also WECANDANCE and Ostend Beach at our Belgian coast. The future... The label will keep on releasing futuristic music, also concentrating on providing chill out and lounge music as I've done since day 1. I’ll keep on releasing peaceful music but also house, deep house and progressive house. Next to this, some new artists will be presented such as Major K, a new talented Belgian musician, and also deep house tracks will see the light in the coming years. ________________________________ www.mixcloud.com/JoshLasden www.facebook.com/joshlasden

Soul Music by Terry Pratchett He figuratively and literally lived for the music. It took over his soul. This was both beautiful and scary to all involved. The music came from somewhere beyond, and it brought with it a sense of independence. It made everyone want to break free from the rules and regulations. To express themselves openly regardless of the chaos it caused. Like raw, untamed fire it spread quickly and was out of control. The kind of music that

Dear Diary, Whenever I go to Mauritius, I usually do the same types of things, But this time, I decided to make a change - it is not easy being different but it certainly makes for exceptional experiences. I've met so many amazing people as well as great music minds including Summer, Steve, Awad, Summer, Javed and Shehzad K. I found that sound plays a huge part to the island, in fact there is always some sort of noise around. Depeche Mode - Policy Of Truth. Wherever you are in Mauritius, there is always some sort of hum around - be it the chattering of locals, sounds of the various creatures or the ocean waves. Close your eyes and allow the tranquil waves to envelop you into its soothing rhythm. Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You. Even on this little island, it was the hot track of the moment, many times I found myself amongst friends crooning (terribly) to this song. It's just one of those tracks with a great public appeal and fun tone. I soaked up the island like a sponge. The easy-going pace, the 'c'est la vie' way of thinking, the diverse culture and sounds, the beautiful surroundings... Un paradis! Bisous. 61

Talk about how you incorporate your Dutch roots with living in London musically.
I'd like to think my Dutch roots made me absorb things in life with an open mind. Having travelled and lived in several places, including China, shaped me as a person as well as an artist. From every single one of these places I have taken a piece of experience and its culture with which I then constructed my own perception of home. This search and construction reflects back onto my How would you describe yourself as music. an artist, and where do you see your career going as a musician? When I first moved to London to pursue music I felt slightly alienated and overwhelmed by it's size and huge drain like appearance on grey rainy days. Over the years I have started to feel more accustomed to the city and managed to channel these complex comparative emotions into creating music. Fate and Feelings I am a firm believer in fate I believe we all meet people when we aren’t looking and that’s the best way. That person blows away any fears you once had about people, and feelings making you realise it’s okay to feel, it’s not going to ruin your life like you once thought. It may of been in the past you’ve developed feelings for someone who didn’t appreciate how you felt at the time and that can leave you feeling quite empty, lost and often looking like a fool. However this person does the opposite and makes you feel wanted, respected and needed - a feeling you're not used to. My advice to anyone who has been lucky enough to find this person is to hold onto them with both hands and don’t let go because they don’t come around often. Embrace how scary it feels and take a risk, you never know it may pay off. You don’t want to look back in ten years time laying next to someone you settled for thinking “I wonder what that person is doing?” Pursue what’s making you smile on a daily basis and, you never know, they may just be the one. Carpe Diem.

Consisting of Oggie, Jay Harvey and Ultra, we got the opportunity to speak with the sweet and soulful lads. How did you guys come together and decide to form UK3? Jay Harvey: Originally it came from Oggie! He came up with idea and said "how would you like to get together: you, me and Ultra?" And I was like, "yeah bruv, I'm all over that!"
What would your advice be to young & aspiring singers and those who want to make it in the industry? Jay Harvey: To be fair, it's 100% commitment! Be prepared for the highs and lows, knockbacks left, right and centre - it's an absolute rollercoaster. But, if you believe in it and want it enough, you can make a career out of it. Everyone's not going to be as big as Rihanna or Justin Bieber, but there are avenues and ways to make money in a career, and, still enjoy music for a long time.

Music is music, it's a feel-good thing. What are the plans for the future for UK3? Oggie: We're going to record an album. It will take us ages, but we're going to do it. Getting together with these boys, for me, has been a journey and a blessing. It's like we've got three guys who've all done their own thing and we've got three ways of doing things differently. Your clothing & make-up style is really cool and different, where do you get your influences & inspiration for your style?
She knows what she wants and she's not going to let anything get in her way. INDYA is a UK based Glam Rock band fronted by Natalie INDYA West. Natalie unleashes her spirit with us in this interview.
Awwww thank you! I have always had the same style. I'm kind of Glam Rock with my look. I have always shopped at Dolls Kill boutique online, H&M, Apricot & charity shops. Sometimes I'm a bit punky, others glam goth. I was inspired by Madonna first off. Then I got inspired by icons like Jodie Marsh. I love what she wears. I buy a lot of her clothing & also stuff from Iron Fist. It's funky, glam and punky. I love bright colours like pinks and yellow, but then I'm always in black as that is my fav colour!!
What's your all-time favourite Rock What inspires you creatively and song? mindfully to get out there and live your This is a really paradoxical question lol... dreams? you got me here! I have so many infact. What inspires me to get out there and Ok, I know this is cheating but am I live my dream is depression. The fact is allowed 3? WINDY CITY SMOKEOUT Chicago’s hottest country and barbeque festival. It is in a huge parking lot on the middle of downtown Chicago, and has a load of restaurant vendors serving their best barbeque and beer. There were two stages, and in between were bags games, picnic tables and cut-outs to take a picture behind. The coolest thing was that the parking lot was right next to the Chicago River, so it was a picture-perfect spot and we saw a bunch of people on a kayak tour. What a summer night! FRIDAY: JAKE OWEN I mean a SMOKIN’ hot country boy who performs barefoot and covers Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love,” what more could you expect? You might remember him having shoulder-length hair from his earlier years, but post-divorce he chopped it off, looks amazing and sings even better. Honestly, I couldn’t handle how great he was and had to leave the crowd to stuff my face with some ribs as some spontaneous emotional eating adventure. The one song that got everyone hyped was “Anywhere with You,” which has a good drop in the beginning of the chorus which builds up to the end. SATURDAY: Jana Kramer Yes, the Jana Kramer from the television show One Tree Hill. She was one of the only women at the entire festival, Jana Kramer knew how to command a crowd through personal interaction. She was constantly waving to people, talking to people and taking pictures with people while performing. If she wanted everyone to clap, she called out every single person that wasn’t to join her. Also, what a perfect woman! She was fit, fun and flirty. Her most recognizable song is “I Got the Boy” and “Why Ya Wanna,” both slow, powerful ballads. SUNDAY: Lee Brice In my opinion, this guy has the most emotion-driven lyrics in country music. With hits like “I Don’t Dance,” “Love Like Crazy,” and “Hard to Love,” from a lyric point of view, I can’t see a reason why anyone wouldn’t like his music. 72

Ladybank I had the pleasure of hearing Ladybank with her beautiful voice and melodic keyboard, she kindly shared a few words with us... I'm a singer/songwriter, I'm also a mental health practitioner and I work in the local area. I've been writing songs since I was a little girl. I would describe my music as a little bit bluesy, sort of Billy Holiday at times, also drawing from people like Massive Attack and Portishead which is my kind of era. It's a blend of music, at the heart of it is that I sing about things that have happened to me, my life and things that have touched me. Inspiration... Things from my own life inspire me. If I've been through something difficult, I tend to sit at the keyboard. I play my keyboard every day, sometimes I'm up in the morning and before i've had breakfast I'll sit at the keyboard and I will have a sing. It's always been a really important part of my life, it's kind of like my notebook. Some people may literally write, for me the keyboard and singing is my way of expressing myself. www.twitter.com/Littleechimosis 76

We decided to walk around to look at merchandise, and realized that the shirts were too expensive for our price range, even though we really wanted to buy one, especially because it was our first Coldplay concert.

Suddenly, we saw a roadie walking around scoping the crowd. He looked like he was on a mission, but I decided to go up to him anyways to ask for a discount on a t-shirt. He explained to us that the merchandise is what pays the bills of the crew, so that is why they are so expensive. We told him we understood but it was unfortunate because it was our first time seeing Coldplay and we wanted to remember the day. Then, the following dialogue happened.
I cannot believe what you are about Roadie: “Oh, it’s your first time seeing to read actually happened. them? My Musical Encounters, 6 September 2017 nearly 17:50 I was invited for a corporate event and the area despite being in middle of the sugarcane fields, was gorgeous. Well-lit and decorated , it was nearly an eyegasm. One thing caught my attention was the stage near the alley. A stool and an electro acoustic guitar with a capo on. That reminded me of a video I have just watched earlier. When I asked around, who will be on stage they confirmed that it will be Yvette Dantier. It was rather a cold evening and being here fully exposed to the wind did not help at all. Nevertheless, she kept her warm smile along with her sweet voice as well as being playful with the jazzy notes from her guitar. It was such a treat, eargasm. I wished I could stay here for as long as her show would have lasted. Unfortunately I needed to move in. A brief talk with her caught some details about her musical moves and that, is full of promise. She seemed almost excited about how things were going; in the right way. I can only wish her the best. COPYRIGHT LAW ISSUES REGARDING COVER SONGS If an artist wants to make a cover, he/she must ask an owner of the song or a management of an artist a permission to make a cover. Then, agreements are signed. Otherwise if an artist copies another’s work and pass it off as her/his own, then they’re guilty of plagiarism, unless they can show that the similarity was completely coincidental and that there was no way that he/she could have heard the work they’re accused of copying. There is a very fine line to be drawn between sound-alikes, parody and plagiarism.
The jury decision in the "Blurred Lines" case defies the traditional legal understanding of music copyright, according to a number of legal experts. In the past, you've generally had to show that a song copied a series of notes, as in a melody or a set of lyrics, in order to prove copyright infringement. The problem is "Blurred Lines" doesn't rip either of those from the Gaye song. The Jades Lemme tell you, Chicago truly has GREAT local music, especially in the indie/rock/singer-songwriter genres. I’ve written about some bands in the past including Twin Peaks, The Lucky Dutch and Maggie Speaks, but this band I am VERY excited to interview and introduce.
