Bordertown Hooked Season 2

Seasons 1 & 2

Bordertown is a unique take on the Nordic Noir genre. The first season is sold worldwide to 180 territories. The first season introduced Chief Inspector Kari Sorjonen, who with his recovering wife and teenage daughter move to a small town near the Russian border to enjoy a more peaceful life. But the idyllic life they had hoped for is far from reality. In the anticipated second season Sorjonen returns to use his brilliant mind and exceptional deductive skills to investigate five new murder cases… and this time Kari and his nearest must confront a new enemy: the past. The past is never dead.

Have you ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn’t? Krista (Matleena Kuusniemi) is a former drug addict, Oskari (Tommi Eronen) is a drug squad criminal investigator. These two have a common history, a son, and an underlaying addiction to each other. Hooked is a drama series about addictions – in relationships, in society, at work. The questions rising form Oskari’s and Krista’s intertwining fates are moral and challenge the audience as well. Can you be cured of an addiction? Can you make up for abandoning your child? Can you keep a mother away from her child? And above all: can people change? The new association for Finnish content producers in the film and television industry, called Audiovisual Producers Finland - APFI, is tasked with representing the interests of producers in the field of audiovisual content production, promoting internationalisation, and organising industry events and competitions. It is also responsible for the collective management of copyrights.

Business Finland, the national funding agency for innovations, is administrating the Finnish production incentive. The production incentive offers 25 % cash rebate for production costs in Finland. It is targeted for feature and documentary film, scripted fiction series and animation productions. Both foreign and Finnish production companies are eligible to apply. Funding service is quick and simple: ongoing call for applications, decisions in max 40 days and payments in 3 weeks. A great benefit is that payments during the production in Finland are also possible. The annual budget is 10 million euros. The target of the production incentive is to increase international interest in Finland as a production location and to promote the growth and internationalization of Finnish companies in audiovisual industry.

The association is the result of several representative and copyright associations for audiovisual producers – The Association of Independent Producers in Finland (SATU), Finnish Film Producers (Elokuvatuottajat), Audiovisual Finland and the Collective Society for Audiovisual Producers in Finland (Tuotos) – joined their operations into a single association in March 2018. The establishment of the new association grew out of the industry’s increasing needs. Continuous market development, the promotion of competitive conditions, and the industry’s internationalisation require increasingly efficient and competent services for the association’s members, customers and stakeholders.

The association offers to its members wide information on global and local markets, contacts and also arranges tailored events aiming at internationalisation. APFI will develop and coordinate promotion and operations of Finnish audiovisual incentive in close collaboration with other influencers and operators in the audiovisual field. APFI will promote Finnish contents and filming locations abroad.
