Draper James is a clothing and lifestyle brand founded in May 2015 by actress Reese Witherspoon to honor her Southern heritage. Originally an e-commerce company, this flagship store on Magazine Street in New Orleans, Louisiana features a cafe and bar in addition to multiple levels of retail shopping. The aim of the space is the bring together a special blend of charm and grace to the residents and visitors of the Crescent City that is signature of the American South. Elements such as the iron columns and banisters are influenced by New Orleans’ rich architectural history. The cafe located on the top floor of the store features a ferrovitreous roof that give guests the feeling and ambiance of outdoor dining with the added comfort of air conditioning during the oppressively hot and humid summer months.

the woolen
Working in a group of four students, our group was instructed to create a concept and design for a retail store located in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. The Woolen is a boutique of the finest woolmade materials curated from mills across the Pacific Northwest. The design concept of the store aims to be use simple, beautiful designs using classic shapes, materials, and soothing colors to add an aspect of elegance to the shopping experience. The space emphasizes the individual story behind every item sold, whether it be chunky knits, luxurious mohair, or refined cashmere pieces.

sentosa island hotel lobby
The program required the design of a two floor hotel lobby in Sentosa Island, Singapore. Programing requirements included a concierge/bag drop area, a signature bar space and a reception desk. Sentosa Island is a highly developed island in the very industrialized country of Singapore where only about 10% of the country has native flora and fauna remaining. My design concept was to bring Singapore’s natural flora into the hotel while maintaining a level of sophistication through installing a feature living wall on the ground floor, featuring numerous water features throughout the multi-level hotel lobby, and utilizing natural materials such as wood, travertine, and raffia throughout the space. A custom wood-slat light fixture is featured along the expanse of the second floor of the lobby, which draws the eye across the space from the signature bar to the reception are the other end of the lobby. The design concept of the law firm aims to reflect the openness and welcoming feelings of the country through the use of light and reflective materials. The concept also incorporates ample circulation space and various break out meeting and reception spaces for em-ployees and clients. Variations of the iconic blue of the Israeli flag are seen in the space in the quartzite stone panels on the walls and the upholstered furniture. INSPIRATION IMAGES

charity: water
The program required the design of a new office space for the New York City headquarters of a global non-profit organization. Programing requirements included a reception and waiting area, a cyber cafe and pantry space, various sized meeting rooms and private and open plan work spaces for employees. My design concept was to use the charity: water logo, the jerry can, and its iconic yellow color to bring lively color to the space will serving as a backdrop to the organization’s graphic marketing images which will be used as artwork in the office. One highlight of the design is a division wall made of jerry cans to separate the reception and cyber cafe areas.
