Peter the Pumpkin

Once upon a time, in a land of Trick-or-Treat, There were little kids like you. Little kids who liked to eat.
There was spooky costumes and candy corn But little Peter Pumpkin, He wanted more.
He wanted to be scary, Like the rest of the bunch. But little Peter Pumpkin, Wanted too much. The other pumpkins were all so scary. Very, very scary.
Reaper was the leader of the big scary pumpkins He had dark orange and yucky skin.
Grim was short, but there was no doubt He could scare anyone even though he was round.
Every pumpkin had its own shape and size. That made the kids so scared they’d even cry. Aside from being scary they were also tall. In comparison to Peter who was tiny and small. Peter’s face was carved in all the wrong places. He wasn’t like the others with very scary faces.
Mom left Peter inside on the big shiny counter, But he could still hear all the kid’s giggles and laughter.
Hours went by and soon all the kids ran home With their lollipops, their Kit Kats, and their big tootsie rolls.
Poor Peter The Pumpkin felt unwanted and unloved, And when Lucy saw him on the counter she knew He needed a big hug.
Even though he wasn’t scary like Reaper or Grim Lucy had carved his face and she loved him. She took him upstairs and tucked him in bed, With a big soft pillow under his tiny orange head.
He was the only one of the pumpkins all snuggled and warm While the other pumpkins sat out in a storm.
All the pumpkins were cold and wet But Peter felt pretty comfy I bet. Lucy got dressed in her princess pink jammies And jumped into bed and landed with a
WHAMMY!
She cuddled next to Peter and said with love in her voice Ill love you forever because it gives me joy. Both Lucy and Peter fell fast asleep No more words were needed not even a peep. Peter was loved now and he knew he fit in Because Lucy loved him and only him.
