This international treasure has fought her way to America and now she is taking it by storm.
BB Thomaz is the name
you won’t soon forget. Check out her hit single “Fighter”
BB Thomaz
BB Thomaz is the music industries newest best kept secret! Growing up in Germany was anything but happy. Being called the N Word by her step fathers, not allowed out of her room, told she couldn’t sing, her life was worthless and she should end it only fueled BB’s determinaAon to leave home at the age of sixteen and make it on her own. This powerhouse is Germany’s recent import to the United States and she is crossing the border with a ferociously vibrant sound that crosses genres as she delivers a Pop, soul, AlternaAve style all her own. The “Deutschland” singer, songwriter, producer, is a self taught musician who plays the piano, and guitar with a Masters Degree in Musicology. Packing a sultry yet powerful voice some would say she has a voice reminiscent of Beyonce and a vocal range close to that of Mariah, her talent goes far beyond her vocals & beauty. Although this beauty started her career as a model for recognizable brands that include Adidas, Reebok, Nike, and Play StaAon her passion for music is insaAable and undeniable. Fully embracing her arAstry and truly a “Force du jour” an arAst on the rise already making her mark in the industry she penned and produced the theme song “For My Life” for the feature film “Landscaper” starring “Keith David”. Her Single Fighter which is available on iTunes will be featured on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop, Her song “WaiAng For” topped Beat Ports Deep House charts at number #5. BB Thomaz boasts accolades that include her being the recipient of Germany’s Rock/Pop Awards in 2009/2010. She was asked to lend her vocals to The Li\le Mermaid III movie soundtrack. Upon returning to the states a^er a successful six week “Street Live Tour” in Germany, Hungary, Spain, Malta, Switzerland, & Italy, she is fast becoming a household name and a favorite among her peers, co-‐wriAng with the late Grammy nominated songwriter/producer Kyle K2 Stewart II (Tamar Braxton, Fantasia, Fi^h Harmony) on her new single “Don’t Go Missing” As well as creaAng a buzz for her performances at The Standard East Village, Toshi’s Living Room, Rockwood Music Hall and most recently BET Music Ma\ers at SOB’s BB is finishing up work on her EP “RevelaAons” which is set for release in 2015, her songs have infecAous deep lyrics that take the listener on a musical journey of systemaAc strength and enduring empowerment of healing. FighAng her way to the top, her warm, friendly charm and spirit blows away everyone who meets her. This rising star’s debut single “Fighter” available on iTunes describes everything that she is. BB Thomaz This beauty has been thru more in her young life than many have experienced in a lifetime. And it shows thru her lyrics and her conviction in her delivery. BB Thomaz is a breath of fresh air and she is here to stay. It doesn’t hurt to be managed by one of the most prolific celebrity photographers in the world (Rowena Husbands). Her work speaks for itself and this dynamic duo has been taking the world by storm and The Movement Magazine has been right there along for the ride. We are predicting a lot of award shows in BB’s future. And from the sound of her music winning will be the icing on the cake.! - by: Egypt
BB is already the Celebrity’s favorite Celebrity. That is not very hard when you are managed by the most critically acclaimed photographer in the entertainment industry Rowena Husbands.
It is time of everyone to start to take full accountability for their actions. We can’t make changes in the world if we are not ready to make changes with ourselves. We must look within and do self-evaluations in order to acquire change. There has been too much killings happening across the globe from cop killings to killing each other.
THIS is Truly a MOVEMENT. Don’t let the moves you make be a detriment to your upward mobility.! - Egypt
!
But WE as a community must take steps to make changes that will not set us back 100 years. The Judicial System is proving that WE as a people don’t matter. So we must take matters into our own hands. (NOT VIOLENTLY) BUT WISELY.

“Clipped Wings They Do Fly” THE MOVIE! The support from our screening at the 41st Newark Black Film Festival has been overwhelming. I'm grateful that so many people were inspired to engage in the much needed dialogue surrounding the Mental Health of our community. Here the question was posed to me regarding the challenges or difficulty telling my truths from book to movie script. I speak rather candidly!! - William M. Barbee! The Entire "Clipped Wings They Do Fly" Family was grateful to the Selection Committee at the 41st Newark Black Film Festival and the Staff of the Newark Museum for their consideration, generosity and hospitality. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their evening! The team was grateful to have the opportunity to raise the conscious of people about the tender subject of Mental Illness through media. It's very important that we continue to support the Cultural Arts, Libraries and Museums within our communities.

“Clipped Wings They Do Fly” THE MOVIE
WILLIAM MICHAEL BARBEE, is an entrepreneur and artist who believes that all of God’s creations are beautiful. He began writing this book, “Clipped Wings, They Do Fly” as an autobiographical sketch. After battling depression for many years, William was able to reflect on the notes that he retained while in counseling with Shelly Neiderbach PhD. Those same writings became essential for giving depth to the main character in this fictional novel, “Clipped Wings, They Do Fly.”!
!
The original script for this novel was written as a tribute to his parents, Otha Donald (late) and Josephine P. Barbee. William attributes his and his sibling’s successes to their parents. William used this novel to honor his mother for her long contributions and sacrifices. He believes that in spite of her physical disabilities, her teachings are forever reminders of how to stay grounded in these tough economic times. He credits her Clipped Wings for his ability to Fly; taken from the old adage, On your shoulders I stand.!
!
Once its original form was completed, William decided to change it’s content to reach a more diverse audience. While keeping true to his real life’s experiences, he altered some of the behaviors in order to give shape and character to the fictional representation of Billy Ray Michaels.!
!
His ability to merge his expertise in business, while staying true to his creativity as an artist is remarkable. William Michael presently owns and operates six separate companies and affects over thirty plus households weekly. However successful he’s been in business, William Michael believes in his principle that “the acceptance of failure is the beginning of success.” He strengthens his beliefs by, “Living life as if it’s your last day, do all you can do for others as long as it doesn’t kill you, and to leave more than you take.” This is the first fiction novel that he has written and is in the process of writing his first screenplay for his first movie project.!

Justice? The Complicated World of Crime and Mental Illness !
Billy Ray Michaels suffers from multiple personality disorder compounded with paranoid schizophrenia, and finds himself on trial for a crime he does not remember committing. He is entangled in a world of confusion that, unbeknownst to him, he has created. Based on the novel by William Michael Barbee, Billy Ray’s story is told through the eyes of his sister, psychotherapist, a potential boss, and the mother of his son, as they are cross-examined by an arrogant state prosecutor. As his defense team fights for his freedom, Billy Ray doodles and writes the surprising poems that will be used in his defense. The film is set in Newark, and dedicated to activist and poet Amiri Baraka and others.! - See more at: http://newarkmuseum.org/newark-black-film-festival-clipped-wings-they-dofly#sthash.8BDWI89q.dpuf

Newark Arts High School, Arts High School Alumni Association, Bragaw Ave. School, as well as the Chad School Alumni truly represented well at the 41st Newark Black Film Festival at the Newark Museum. It is such a good and refreshing feeling to see so many of William M. Barbee friends and support from his childhood. It brought a certain amount of comfort while he was presenting and speaking at the event.
We were all honored to have Mrs. Amina Baraka as a Special Guest for the screening of my movie " Clipped Wings They Do Fly." Thank you Michael for allowing me to learn and grow in so many areas ! You have truly been a blessing to me in so many ways ! ! The Poem " A Solitary Man" you wrote so many years ago and is in your novel "Clipped Wings They Do Fly" always touched my heart in such a powerful way -! A Solitary Man - Always was he! That spoke of the places he`d seen,! That filled his world! With horrible things.!
Beth A. Kelly
Creeping through his smile! Were those echos of pain,! That seemed to draw anger! That constantly poured like rain.! While reaching for help! To understand his past,! He couldn`t figure out! Why some friendships never last.! Left only with his heart,! Soul, and pride in his hands,! Here I sit! A Solitary Man - William Michael Barbee! Your voice will forever be heard Michael !!!!!! You are the voice for all those who sit in silence as the "Solitary Man" You now soar like an Eagle to free all those who are caged feeling like there is no way out !!!! With numerous high-profiled feature film dramas and comedies and guest starring sitcom appearances credited to his name and a list of successful businesses he personally owns and in some cases operate, the cliché, “the sky is the limit” truthfully applies to this extraordinary, yet humble man. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Usman has two sisters and three brothers. This lead Usman to eventually major in business administration at Essex County College, graduating in 1994. It has been many moons since we’ve last heard from this guy, but the latest release from R&B musical group ReSurface only proves once again, that some things just get better with time. With the arrival of this new project after so long a hiatus – an effort that may ever so cleverly be called “Resurface” - this phenomenal group rises like the proverbial phoenix from the ashes of its quietude to reclaim its rightful place in the spotlight. And, one might add, to the profound delight of their many legions of fans the world over. Surface began as the collaboration of three incredibly talented artists – flutist David Pic Conley, guitarist David Townsend, and vocalist Bernard Jackson – who together created one of the most distinct sounds, and longest string of hits, to emerge from that magical era for black music, the 1980’s and early nineties. Whether up-tempo tunes or smooth ballads, the music of Surface has earned a permanent place on the urban contemporary playlist, where one is sure to hear songs like Falling in Love, Shower Me with Your Love, Happy, Closer Than Friends, The First Time, You’re My Everything, among many others. Today, ReSurface is the collaboration of David Pic Conley and legendary singer John Feva. Conley began his career as the sax player and background vocalist for the seventies funk band Mandrill, who in addition to the body of work he built up with Surface, wrote, co-wrote, or produced an extensive array of artists from the period, including Aretha Franklin’s Grammy nominated album What you see is What You Sweat, Melba Moore (Do you Really Want My Love), Jermaine Jackson (Don’t Take It Personal), Barbara Weathers, and many more. John Feva’s long musical influences trace back to his father George Malone, who as a member of the famous Doo Wop group the Monotones, brought us the tune Who Wrote The Book Of Love? Eventually his talents were discovered by song writer Vincent F Bell, who was then enjoying huge success with his monster hit The Rain, by Oran Juice Jones. Bell in turn introduced Feva and his group to Russell Simmons, who signed the teenagers immediately to a deal under the new name, Black Flames, of which Feva would become the lead singer and principle song writer. John Feva’s abilities as a vocalist are striking, and the smooth, dulcet tones of his first tenor effortlessly delivers that signature sound which his fans have come to expect, and indeed demand. In a word, Feva got the goods!
The new single, We Can Fly, accompanied by their first video, is the breakout hit of the summer and is instantly recognizable by its smart lyrics and catchy melodies. The highly anticipated CD will be coming soon.

Baltimore, M.D.-Not even a week has passed since the end of several uprisings that rocked the city, Baltimore residents and many outsiders are still protesting the death of 25-year-old black man Freddie Gray who died a week after being taken into police custody. On Saturday less than twenty-four hours after the six officers who were involved in Gray’s death were brought up on charges ranging from assault to second degree murder activists held another massive rally again at City Hall. Once again this one was lead and moderated by the National President of Black Lawyers for Justice Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz. And like the rally that preceded it a week before drew thousands of people. Directly behind the podium area was a joint squad of police and National Guardsmen ensuring the event would remain peaceful. This heavy armed presence,
however, didn’t cause speakers and attendees from lashing out at police misconduct. As the crowd rapidly swelled onto the lawn area facing City Hall, they were privileged to hear from several highly esteemed dignitaries who were present. Perhaps the most popular among them was Maryland State Senator Catherine E. Pugh who recently has been making national headlines regarding her thoughts on Gray’s case. During this past weekend’s event she wasted no time in addressing the recent riots that took place just days before.
“This is a teachable moment. By no means do we condone violence in this city. . .We can demonstrate peacefully.” Pugh made very clear that Freddie Gray’s death goes beyond of Baltimore. “Freddie Gray becomes symbolic of all the black men in this country who have been treated unfairly by our police”, she said. Sen. Pugh concluded by saying, “This is a moment at which we can begin to elevate the conversation around race and race relations in this country. All we’re talking about to America is about being fair.” Revolution Communist Party of America spokesperson and Baltimore native Carl Dix like his organization has been very adamant in ending police brutality. During his brief remarks he lead the crowd in a chant. “INDICT. CONVICT. SEND THOSE KILLER COPS TO JAIL. THE WHOLE DAMN SYSTEM IS GUILTY AS HELL!” Ralliers also heard from some of the families of other African-Americans who had been killed as a result of interactions with police. The amount of individuals on stage holding up large pictures of their loved ones who died as a result of contact with city police was virtually impossible to count. Tawanda Jones-whose brother Tyrone West in 2013 also died under suspicious circumstances while in Baltimore police custody-spoke briefly. “To all of the victims of police brutality, this is ridiculous. This has been going on for decades. We’re here to say enough is enough. This is our fight. We will not fight until killer cops are in cellblocks.” There were some present who didn’t entirely agree with non-locals organizing in their hometown. Derek Compton Sr. told Your Black World “The problem is they don’t really know the real concerns of the people. Myself and others from here locked down the area called ‘Ground Zero’ and assured
nothing happened in our community. We police our own community. For us this isn’t about show and tell. We have to live here when all of these cameras are gone.” While addressing critics such as Mr. Compton who have accused him of being an outside agitator he responded, “Was Dr. King from Selma or Montgomery?”. He justified his presence in the city over the past several days by mentioning what he felt was corruption on the part of local politicians and civic leaders. “There’s a whole host of elected officials in this town that have sold you out. There’s a whole bunch of preachers in this town that have sold you out. And therefore, I’ve been asked to come here to stir the pot.” There were also over twenty youth representatives from different parts of the country who spoke.

It should also be noted that the next day it was announced that the days-long city curfew imposed on residents by the city’s government had been lifted. National President of Black Lawyers for Justice Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz
