Teenager ‘celebrated attack like footballer’ By LIAM HEYLIN A TEENAGER chased a homeless man through Cork city on a Saturday afternoon, knocked him to the ground, kicked him in the head, stamped on his head, broke his nose and some teeth, then celebrated like he was playing football, it was alleged yesterday. Garda Brian Maher made the allegations at Cork District Court where a juvenile was charged with assault causing harm and endangerment, whereby he created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to another person. The injured party in the case is a 30-yearold homeless man. The accused, aged 17, was arrested in the presence of his mother and brought before the juvenile hearing of Cork District Court. CCTV plea for cabs after vicious attack CORK taxi drivers say they need better safety measures in their cars after a vicious attack on a driver in the early hours of yesterday.

John Ford, a cabbie with ABC Taxis, suffered substantial facial injuries including a suspected broken eye socket in the assault and robbery. The popular driver collected two men at the Patrick Street taxi rank at around 4am and took them in the direction of Dublin Hill, where he was attacked, robbed and dumped on the side of the road after his car was stolen. Badly injured, he managed to make his way to Blackpool Garda station where an ambulance was called. The car, a green 2011 Toyota Avensis, was later discovered crashed near Kinvara.
