A TALENTED soccer player who was full of life and always had a smile — that’s how Wilton teenager Evan Kidney, who was killed in a house fire yesterday, was today remembered.

Seventeen-year-old Evan was alone in the family home in Elmvale when the fire, believed to be caused by a chip pan, broke out around 3pm. Described as a popular and well-liked boy, Evan was well known in the community as a talented footballer playing for Greenwood FC. The fifth-year pupil in Coláiste Spioraid Naomh was also a member of the 37th Togher Scouts and had been involved with the local Youth Café. Venture Scout leader David Barry said: “He was a Venture Scout. He was always full of life and always had a smile.
