THE Poor Clare Sisters on College Road, who celebrate their 100th anniversary today — have appealed for vocations saying that if their community numbers drop too low, they may be forced to amalgamate with another branch of their order. The community, which currently numbers eight, has no novitiates at present and with the most recent member to join in 2005, the sisters are actively seeking more vocations. “You couldn’t really manage here with about five sisters,” said Sr Francis Walsh, who serves as Novice Mistress in the convent. “That would be too little for us so hopefully the Lord will send us new vocations.” Celebrating their 100th an-
