THE IDENTITY PARLIAMENT 2019 The identity Parliament exists in ‘a future’ of Southampton where identity is not only ingratiated within the daily activities of the people but also a state of affairs governed by a localised guild is established in order to combat future tendencies of identity loss, consequently creating a place that is influenced by the everyday social aspects of community. A place that adapts localised policies that enable the protection and sustenance of its identity The aspirations of the architecture is to create a meeting place for the development and establishment of a local identity. A space that can act as a cultural incubator, a space that accounts for and nurtures the ‘New Narrative‘ of Southampton. Giving the city the potential to contend for societal accolades such as the upcoming city of culture 2021.

Place-Making For Social Sustainability Place-making contributes to social and economic developments by improving physical the quality of the physical and build environments respectively. Social issues are related to the quality of the physical and built environment and suggests that such issues can be resolved by developing the environment which means, especially relating to socially and physically dilapidated areas such as the western edge of Southampton.

COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION 2018 The court of Public Opinion’ is a speculative social and architectural project and experiment developed in order to ponder the physical possibility and implication of a system of judgement and prosecution aimed at the satisfaction of society’s yearning for instantaneous justice. The project aims to highlight the power of collective thought, referencing the innate human behavioural tendency as displayed particularly on social media platforms like facebook, twitter and Instagram. This project focuses on a scenario where an afflicted groups and factions of society may take to social media to exercise the strength in a singular collective voice to prosecute its offenders outside the parameters of the formal legal system. A state of judgement where something as abstract as a unanimous vote or the ‘loudest roar’ of a collective could potentially determine a sentence.

The project ultimately intends to ask the question: what role would the power of this collective voice play in the physical world?

HOUSING FOR THE THIRD AGE: OPEN SOURCE STRUCTURALISM

2016

The project responds to the need for housing for an active third age, taking into consideration activities that are carefully designed to integrate the elderly with other age groups. The project aimed to take the requirements a step forward, by looking at the immediate wider context and urban fabric. The proposal would aspire to resolve the disconnect within the urban tissue with regards to identified zones of residency and retail by creating a transitional approach to where the building acts as a transition between the retail and residential houses beyond. This allows for an active ground floor with spaces for retail activities and workshops which in turn enables interaction between the residential units above and the immediate context.

Portfolio of Works

The project prioritised social sustainability by creating spaces that allow the third age the to interact with each other. This motivated the design for multi purpose balconies and transitional spaces that serve as circulation as well as points of secondary interaction.

PORTOBELLO PAVILION 2018 The Portobello pavilion design was developed by ArchitectureDoingPlace who were selected finalists by a local panel in a charette hosted at the Tabernacle together with the Museum Of Architecture.

Portfolio of Works

The proposal comprised a habitable threshold, 40 capacity learning space, a planted terrace which also served as a stage, and pergolas that created vistas from which to appreciate the square. The design aimed to serve as a place to gather and commune for the locals as well as the wider Kensington Borough community.

ILLUSTRATION I am interested in illustration as a tool for the investigation and discovery of concepts and territories of personal and professional interests.

Portfolio of Works

Illustration also allows me to study colour, form in search of new ways to approach design challenges, as such drawing becomes a mechanism for thinking and exploration and very importantly its very fun and engaging.
