At Augusta Prep, our children are being taught skills and concepts through a variety of active and engaging learning styles and techniques that are challenging them to grow cognitively, socially, physically, and emotionally. The students are being taught how to think ... not what to think.” - Anne Vender, Prep parent

It’s more than just academics ... Education is more than academics. The Lower School recognizes the importance of fostering well-rounded students. In addition to a multitude of enrichment opportunities within the classroom setting, we offer several enrichment opportunities outside the homeroom class. Art, Music, Technology, PE, Spanish, and Library give our learners a chance to explore new skills and talents, encourage creativity, and provide a hands-on, experiential time of growth and discovery.

To learning, and beyond ...

The Middle School Enrichment Program is part of a Prep student’s well-rounded education. The Advisory Program designates one teacher to assist each student throughout their middle school experience. Cavaliers in the community We encourage and provide opportunities for our students to get involved in their local community. Each year, our students reach across borders by raising money for the Schools for Schools program, which sponsors a school that lacks basic necessities such as permanent classrooms and sanitation systems. Community service does not stop there as we also participate in Jump Rope for Heart, which raises money for the American Heart Association. In the Upper School, our Service Club partners with local non-profits to support and give back to our local community. Prep sophomores participate in a retreat that involves a full day of service projects in the local community. Our Middle School participates annually in the It’s Spooky to Be Hungry food drive and students are encouraged to join the Recycling Club to learn and understand the global impact of environmental waste. The Lower School will visit retirement communities to assist in building a positive environment in each of those communities.

Teamwork makes YOUR dream work

A Prep education goes beyond the classroom as our students are taught to bond and develop relationship-building skills at annual retreats. Students embark on various three-day trips to different locations from the mountains to the coast. Student retreats occur soon after the start of a new school year to build meaningful relationships with their classmates early on. Our Middle School students also work on team, leadership, and relationship building through a yearlong Advisory Program, in which students are paired in small groups based on grade level and are led by a faculty member.

Advising one student at a time To succeed, one must prepare for success, which is why Augusta Prep offers Academic Services – a fee-based program that enriches Augusta Prep’s community by offering a broad range of initiatives promoting student success, ensuring access, and enhancing the educational experience of all students. Advocating for the needs of a diverse student population by utilizing learning communities, experiential learning, and tutorial programs, Academic Services cultivates life skills critical for successful navigation through the curriculum and beyond graduation.

Lifelong Learners

College bound

In the past three years, Augusta Prep students have been admitted to more than 150 different colleges and universities. From Harvard and MIT to UGA, Alabama, and Ole Miss, our college counseling office works with each individual student and family to explore the right fit. To do this, one must explore options, which is why our juniors spend three days visiting colleges during their class retreat. This retreat allows our students to visit schools of all different shapes and sizes, which allows them to compare and contrast the differences between large public universities and small liberal arts colleges. Our goal is to equip our students and families with the knowledge to make the right decision for them.

Prepped for success

In a non-sectarian independent college preparatory environment our student are taught how to think, not what to think. Our students understand, through our character education program, the difference between honor and dishonor. Outside the classroom, we provide opportunities for our students to learn about career choices from guest speakers. In the Upper School, we invite alumni to speak with our students as part of a Lunch ‘n’ Learn series. Each Veterans Day, we invite a guest speaker from the armed services to speak to our students about their experience. Students are given every opportunity in and out of the classroom to learn how to be resilient, well-rounded, adaptable, life-long learners.

The prep legacy

Augusta Prep leaves a lasting impression on our alumni, students, and families. An indicator of a positive experience at a school is how many alumni have their children enrolled at that school. At Augusta Prep, we celebrate having more than 40 current legacy students enrolled. As a school with more than 120 current families with multiple children enrolled, students are allowed to create and define what success means to them. As a member of the Prep family, you join a community of over 1800 active alumni spread throughout the world, who have carried the tradition and legacy of academic excellence with them. “I was prepared (for college). In fact, I was overprepared. Because of my 12 years at Augusta Prep, I started my first day of college ahead in Math and English and exempted out of languages. I understood how to ask questions and reach out to a professor for extra help. Having participated in sport and extracurriculars, I learned efficient time-management skill in balancing school with other activties” - Chloe Belangia ’15
