Project 1 Multiview Drawing This project is to draw objects and determine the orientations and sizes of those project according to the elevations and plan. 4

In this project, I’ve learned about the line weight. Because of line weight, the viewers can roughly determine the orientation of objects.

I have to decide the linetype and lineweight for whole contour drawing. Linetype provides the drawing and connection of different drawings.

However, lines-only drawing can make some paradoxes in depth of the objects because of lacking of colors inner surfaces.

Project 2 Planar Objects and Folding

In this project, I made an object by adding planar surfaces each other and folding multiple surfaces.

This project guides me how to create planars in 3 Dimensions and symmetric objects.

6

Process of creating planar and folding

Plan and Elevations

I started with some planars. I added each other according to the angle and sides I want to add. Then I fold it in the end.

Project 3 Boolean object For this project, I created multiple solids then I manipulated all the solids to become one solid. I combined some solids, made holes and subtracted each other.

8

Process of creating Boolean object I started with creating some random solids. Then I combined some solids and subtracted some each other to create my final solid.

This project shows me how to manipulate the solid that I want to design and how to build a 3D model using just paper.

However, this project is based on specific geometry solid, I cannot to create solid based on organic curves.

Project 4 Grafting In this project, I created a nurbs that is tangent at some points to other nerbs.

At the tangent point, the two nurbs intersects each other;no other place but only one point.

This project helps me for creating not only nurbs that form freely but also creating nurbs intentionally according to my ideas. 10

Process of creating Nurbs I created a boundary and created some isocurves that tangent at some point with other nurbs. Then I created a nurbs with the isocurves that I’ve created.

Point of Tangency At this point, these two nurbs surfaces touches each other.

Project 5 Mashrabiya For this project, I created a solid block with the concept of Islamic architecture.

I create this block to according to the amount of light that I want to passing through, and the area of void I can see through depends on the side I stand.

12

Process of creating the Mashrabiya block I started with a basic floor plan of asian building for the plan. Then I created a solid according to the concept of light passing void. For the final step, I modified the elevation for different shadow patterns.

This design confuse the viewer which is perspective view or

elevation. However, that is my intentional design.

13

Front side perspective

In this point of view, the viewer cannot see thought because of the reflection and void area of the surface.

Back side perspective In this point of view, the viewer can see the other side depends on his orientation. The closer, the more clear. Yet the further, the more clear shadow pattern.

Project 6 Anamorphic Drawing In this project, I drew an illusion of an object I have created. On three different walls, I created distorted drawings that appears as one object if it is looked at from one certain point of view. I have to care about the color and perspective of lights that impact on the wall to make this drawing more real.

Object and Drawing(Closer POV)

I used different shades of red color according to both the orientation of the wall and the impact of light.

These different shades of red can represent the depth of the colors and the faces of the respective parts of the actual object.

Project 7 Chess Army(Bishop) This project is a group project to make chess pieces and my piece is Bishop. As a group theme, we decided to make twisted objects that grow bottom to top.

Twist Theme

According to the appearance of a Bishop, I created 3 parts individually; Hat, Scepter and Cloak.

Hat

As the hat is the remarkable part of a bishop piece in the chess, I just created a hat which look like Pope’s hat. For the Scepter, I made it rectangular-style which is more easy to printed with a 3D printer.

Scepter

For the Cloak, I twisted a bunch of rectangular boxes to make it seem like a wavy clothes.

Modified Curtain Wall House

Project 8 Curtain Wall House

Glass Wall Staircase

Street View

In this project, I modified the Curtain Wall House ( 1995 ), designed by Shigeru Ban. I installed the internal glass wall for the staircase so that the internal spacings can be interconnected each other. And I modified the whole roof that will provide better air flow through the building and made it more obvious from the further distance. 20

Right Elevation

I modified the roof to be more organic and more wavy. I also raised the one corner of the roof so that it can collect the air current from any direction according the orientation of the house.
