Week 1-2: Multiviews Drawing

4

Strength :Drawing this help me to have a chance to think about the unseen walls’ windows and height. Weakness :Cannot be the same with the real one, which is designed by professional architect. Opportunities:I can create similar simple houses now. Risk :If the windows are not enough, the sun light can’t go in enough for the internal spaces

5

WEEK 3: TINY HOUSE ¼” = 1’ PLAN + FULL SCALE

Plan 6

Plan Drawing

Strength: Have long length and have enough space for each specific partition. Weakness: The width is bit thin as about 3 people can’t use this interface freely. Opportunities: Recalculating the width and length will make a better interface. Risk: Thin width is unsafe for the kitchen and people can feel hard to breath

WEEK 4: SketchUp Array Tools - Trellis

10

Strength: Can create many thing in multiple times in a short interval Weakness:Measurements are not specific so the connections are not neat. Opportunities: With the certain measurement and strong algorithm, even complex repetitive structure can be drawn within a short time. Risks: Random error can appears all the time because of random measurement.

Strength: Easy and fun when familiar with SketchUp. Make familiar with tones and colors.

Weakness: Overlap layers can blend the colors.

This tiny house is basically have 2 vibes. Downstair is for those who really want a “home”: kitchen, bathroom and Dining area. And the upstair is for “comfort” zone: bedroom, balcony and the transparent garden. Curved roof is for the cozy feeling. Downstair is 6 inches high in case of water problem.

Strength:Give all vibes of normal tiny house and real Family size home. Fixed area by using particular functions, like instead of stairs I use ladders. Garden is transparent and multiple levels. Comfortable area and problems (like water and sun -light) are fixed. Weakness:Interface is pretty narrow Opportunities: Interface can be wide by recalculating. More functions can be added rather than keep fixing the internal area. Risk: Internal can be too bright and glass can fragile.

Project: Tool and improved Tool

For this project, I chose the allen key, also known as L key, which is simple can do a simple task. I got this idea while I was assembling my IKEA bed. IKEA provides me this tool but no screw driver, even though they also give a lot of screws to be put. So I decided to modify this L key to be more useful.

I imported this L key to double headed and added removable screw-driver. I put a magnet in the screw head so that it will attach to the L-key to every position. Easy to use, convenient to carry!

Midcentury Model Architecture Eames House For the final project, we had to analysed about the midcentury model architecture with a team. My team chose the Eames house (case study No.8). This Eames house was designed by Charles and Ray Eames. We chose this house because of its simplicity and because it is in the tiny forest, even though it is in LA.

24

As we have to modify this building, we researched more and analized everything that concern with Eames House. That I found out that the structure make the feeling of disconnection within the two buildings and nature around it.

25

Eames House (Modified) In my first modification, I marginally expanded the structure. In that area, most every house has a swimming pool, thus I got an idea to installed one this house to make as the same sense of that area. Later, I sketched an idea that connected the house with the nature. I also installed upstair bridge-garden to connect every buildings and the green environment.

Finally I made a outdoor pathway with Mondrian color roof, which stick with the sense of original one.

Strength

-Feel same sense with the original Eames House. Connect the structure with the nature. Make more luxury.

Risk

-need large property area to build.

Opportunity-build more similar design houses in the tropical delta region. Weakness -Transparent glasses disturb the privacy
