The Northeast-10 Conference the national title in the 4x400 relay at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an NCAA Division II conference that was established in 1979. The conference consists of 15 member institutions located throughout the Northeast in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. With the addition of women’s golf in 201415, the NE-10 now sponsors a total of 24 sports.

When it came to NCAA postseason selections, the NE-10 once again had another sensational year with 48 teams chosen to participate in national tournaments during the year. On top of that, representatives from 34 different swimming and diving, cross country and track & field teams competed for national titles. Of those 48 teams, 13 different Northeast-10 institutions were represented, while nine teams from the conference advanced to at least the national quarterfinal round in national tournament play – a new NE-10 record.

The institutions that make up the Northeast-10 are Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American International College (Springfield, Mass.), Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, N.H.), Le Moyne College (Syracuse, N.Y.), Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.), University of New Haven (West Haven, Conn.), Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.), Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.), The College of Saint Rose (Albany, N.Y.), Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, Conn.), Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester, N.H.), and Stonehill College (Easton, Mass.).

From the field of play to inside the classroom, the Northeast-10 honored a number of student-athletes for their academic accomplishments. A record-breaking 73 percent of the league’s 287 athletic teams garnered a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Overall, nearly 59 percent of all conference student-athletes earned at least a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2014-15 academic year and were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll (CHR) as a result. An astonishing 164 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall before 205 more did so in the spring. The Northeast-10 also honored 247 student-athletes as members of its academic all-conference teams.

The conference’s 15 member institutions are spread geographically from Syracuse, N.Y. to Waltham, Mass. and from Colchester, Vt. to Garden City, N.Y. Many of the members are located in or around the metropolitan areas of Albany, Boston, Manchester, New Haven, Worcester and New York City. The Northeast-10 was proud to welcome the New Haven and Adelphi in the conference’s latest expansion, adding to the powerful union of strong academic and athletic institutions. In addition, LIU Post (Brookville, N.Y.) is an associate member of the NE-10 in the sports of field hockey and football.

The Northeast-10 also remains focused on its community endeavors. The conference has built a strong partnership with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that matches children with life-threatening illnesses with college sports teams. In 2015, the NE-10 became the first ‘fully-matched’ conference in Division II, as at least one team from each member institution has matched with a Team IMPACT child. More than 60 NE-10 teams currently have matches through Team IMPACT. The conference’s fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish are also more than any other Division II conference in the country over the past decade.

The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education, both on and off the field, of more than 6,000 student-athletes. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II national championships in women’s basketball, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.

Through the establishment and enforcement of regulations, the conference aims to encourage policies that enable intercollegiate athletics programs to contribute to and be considered an integral part of the total educational offerings at our member institutions. The Northeast-10 can look to a long history of success including the growth from seven original member institutions to more than double its size 35 years later, the contention for and winning of multiple national championships, and the recognition of student-athlete performances off the field and in the classroom.

The conference is coming off yet another banner season in 2014-15. The Adelphi women’s lacrosse team repeated as national champions by defeating Lock Haven, 5-4, in the title game. Also, Southern Connecticut’s Chrystle Hill, Georgette Nixon, Sarah Hill and Shatajah Wattely claimed

Head Coach Cross Country Head Coach Track & Field Sixth Season

Katie Rees Former Adelphi University assistant coach and standout runner Katie (DiPietro) Rees was named Head CrossCountry and Track and Field Coach by Director of Athletics Robert Hartwell on June 11, 2010. Rees spent four years as an athlete at Adelphi and then three and a half years as an assistant coach with the program.

CROSS COUNTRY BIO In Rees’ fifth year, she coached Nick Filippazzo to a second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, after he finished second in the 10k at the NCAA East Region Championships. The men’s team finished fifth while the women came in 11th, after posting fifth and sixth places, respectively, in the NE-10 Championships. After falling just one place short of an All-American honor in 2013, Filippazzo earned the distinction with a 38th place finish at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky. For the fourth straight year, Rees’ team was represented at the NCAA Championships. However, the presence was more evident with two individuals in Elizabeth Eickelberg (’14) and senior Nick Filippazzo. Eickelberg and Filippazzo helped punch their tickets to the NCAA field by leading the Panthers to fifth place finishes, both for the men and women at the NCAA East Regional. The men earned the same finish earlier in the season at the Northeast-10

Meanwhile, Filippazzo took his second place regional to a 41st place finish. In Rees’ third season in 2012, the men put in another solid showing while the women had a record-breaking year. The men finished fifth at the NE-10 Championships, 6th at the NCAA East Regional, and sent one runner to the NCAA Championships in Andrew Coelho. Coelho capped his Adelphi career with another set of All-Conference, AllRegion and All-American honors. The women were ranked as high as #29 in the country and placed second at the NE-10 Championships behind four All-Conference and AllRegion performers. The squad placed second at the NCAA East Regional and earned their first trip to the NCAA Championship in 10 years, where they out-performed their national ranking.

Rees helped the Panthers to three straight East Coast Conference women’s cross-country titles and two men’s in her time at Adelphi and was instrumental in helping the mid-distance and distance runners re-write the Adelphi record books.

During the outdoor season, both squads improved two spots at the conference championships, taking fifth and seventh respectively. The women set six school records while the men had one. Additionally, she had two females earn All-Conference honors while the men had four event winners, five individual All-Conference honors and one relay earn the same kudos. Long Island There’s more than plenty to do on Long Island. Arts, culture, history, beaches, golf and shopping. There are five distinctive regions in Long Island North Shore, otherwise known as the Gold Coast, with dozens of historic sites dating back to colonial days and Gatsby-era mansions . South Shore, the Island’s spectator sports and entertainment center, with world-famous Jones and Fire Island Beaches, and home to the New York Islanders. Central Suffolk, with beautiful forests and natural

inlets, the world’s largest factory outlet center and a huge water park. North Fork, with an array of vineyards, waterfront ports and farm stands. South Fork, widely known as “The Hamptons,” with its pristine beaches and exclusive villages.

New York City It is impossible not to find something interesting to do and see in Manhattan. The most renowned of New York City’s five boroughs, Manhattan offers the best of everything— Broadway shows, concerts, sporting events, museums, shops, restaurants, parks, parades, cultural landmarks and one-of-a-kind neighborhoods. New York City is only 30 minutes from the Adelphi University Campus. On a trip to Manhattan, you could: • Head to Central Park to catch the finish of the New York City Marathon, or pack a picnic basket for lunch on the grass at Strawberry Fields; • Ring in the New Year by watching the famous ball drop in Times Square; • Catch a Tony Award-winning show or late-night TV favorite David Letterman on Broadway; • See the Knicks take the court or the Rangers hit the ice at historic Madison Square Garden;

• Adjacent to the Motamed Field is a practice space. • The tennis courts are located just beyond this field and anchors the complex in one contiguous area. • All-weather surface material to allow for year-round practice and competition. • Four main light standards help illuminate the field for evening training and competition, as well as working media and game operations. The Outdoor Sports Complex features Motamed Field, which is the home for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.

• A heated/air-conditioned Press Box is located at the top of the stadium seats. Located midfield, the press box accommodates sports information, working media and game operations, which maintains the scoreboard and public address sound system. • The Panthers’ live in-game stats of soccer, lacrosse and field hockey events originates out of the press box. • Addition of a one-level parking structure for over 300 cars below the field.
