ADELPHI MEN’S SOCCER
The Northeast-10 Conference championship of 2015-16 by finishing the 400 in 51.32, just .03 seconds shy of the meet record. The very next day, Le Moyne defeated Limestone, 8-4, to win its fifth NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship and cap off a perfect 20-0 season.
The Northeast-10 Conference is an NCAA Division II conference that was established in 1979. The conference consists of 15 member institutions located throughout the Northeast in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. With the addition of women’s golf in 2014-15, the NE-10 now sponsors a total of 24 sports.
When it came to NCAA postseason selections, the NE-10 once again had another sensational year with 44 teams chosen to participate in national tournaments during the year. In addition, student-athletes from 32 different men’s and women’s golf, swimming and diving, cross country, and indoor and outdoor track & field teams competed for national titles. Of those 44 teams earning NCAA bids, 14 different Northeast-10 institutions were represented. Seven NE-10 teams reached the national semifinal round, while three teams played in their respective sport’s national title game.
The institutions that make up the Northeast-10 are Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American International College (Springfield, Mass.), Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, N.H.), Le Moyne College (Syracuse, N.Y.), Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.), University of New Haven (West Haven, Conn.), Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.), Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.), The College of Saint Rose (Albany, N.Y.), Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, Conn.), Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester, N.H.), and Stonehill College (Easton, Mass.).
It was a record year for the Northeast-10 academically in 2015-16 as well. Five NE-10 institutions achieved a department Academic Success Rate (graduation rate) of at least 90 percent. Four achieved a score of 95 percent or better, ranking them in the top seven nationally. A record 61 percent of the league’s student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the spring with 243 posting a perfect 4.0 GPA. Another new record was set this summer with the release of Team Academic Excellence awards, as 75 percent of the league’s 292 teams achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NE-10 also honored 247 student-athletes as members of its academic all-conference teams during the fall, winter and spring seasons.
The conference’s 15 member institutions are spread geographically from Syracuse, N.Y. to Waltham, Mass. and from Colchester, Vt. to Garden City, N.Y. Many of the members are located in or around the metropolitan areas of Albany, Boston, Manchester, New Haven, Worcester and New York City. The Northeast-10 was proud to welcome the New Haven and Adelphi in the conference’s latest expansion, adding to the powerful union of strong academic and athletic institutions. In addition, LIU Post (Brookville, N.Y.) is an associate member of the NE-10 in the sports of field hockey and football.
The Northeast-10 also remains focused on its community endeavors. The conference has built a strong partnership with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that matches children with life-threatening illnesses with college sports teams. In 2015, the NE-10 became the first ‘fully-matched’ conference in Division II, as at least one team from each member institution has matched with a Team IMPACT child. More than 60 NE-10 teams currently have matches through Team IMPACT. The conference’s fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish are also more than any other Division II conference in the country over the past decade.
The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education, both on and off the field, of more than 6,000 student-athletes. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II national championships in women’s basketball, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
Through the establishment and enforcement of regulations, the conference aims to encourage policies that enable intercollegiate athletics programs to contribute to and be considered an integral part of the total educational offerings at our member institutions. The Northeast-10 can look to a long history of success including the growth from seven original member institutions to more than double its size 36 years later, the contention for and winning of multiple national championships, and the recognition of student-athlete performances off the field and in the classroom.
The conference is coming off another successful year, collecting four national titles in 2015-16. Two champions from the NE-10 were crowned at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships during the winter season. First it was American International’s Chandler Cotton, Jr., Kemani Hume, Leakey Kipkosgei and Chad Miller claiming the men’s distance medley relay title with a time of 9:48.02. Then Merrimack’s Carly Muscaro won the women’s 400-meter dash title with a time of 52.34 the following night. Muscaro wasn’t quite finished, however, as she defended her 400-meter dash crown at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, winning her second individual national

Carlo
Acquista 10th Season Record: 87-65-15
All-Conference and three NSCAA All-Region honors overall with James Thristino tabbed NE-10 Rookie of the Year.
Carlo Acquista enters his 10th season as head men’s soccer coach at Adelphi University with a record of 87-65-15 through his first nine seasons.
2014 was Acquista and the Panthers’ second season at the NCAA Division II level, and its fortunes were eerily similar to the previous year. After posting an 11-5-1 (9-4 NE-10) regular-season record, the Panthers defeated Le Moyne in the conference quarterfinal, as they did in 2013. Acquista and his men would again suffer defeat in the semifinal, this time
Posting a record of 13-5-3 in the 2015 season, Acquista led the Panthers to uncharted territory, as the team reached its first NE-10 Championship game in program history and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006, and the first in Division II since 1975. With a 9-2-2 record in NE-10 play, the team entered the playoffs at the No. 3 seed, defeating Le Moyne in the quarterfinals for the third straight year before knocking off Merrimack to advance to the championship. In the final, the Panthers fell by a 1-0 score to Southern New Hampshire, but the team earned six

ADELPHI MEN’S SOCCER Acquista came to Adelphi from St. Francis College (NY), where he held the position of head coach for five seasons. During that time, Acquista had his strongest season in 2004, guiding the Terriers to an 8-9-1 record and a fifth place finish in the Northeast Conference, including wins over Vermont, Stony Brook and Monmouth.
to Southern Connecticut State. Senior Diego Zuniga earned Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association Men’s Soccer All-America Honorable Mention honors in addition to being named NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-East Region Second Team with sophomore Caelan Hueber and ECAC All-Star Second Team with fellow classman Jordan Hibbert.
A graduate of St. John’s University (2000), Acquista was a fouryear member of the Red Storm men’s soccer team. He helped St. John’s capture an NCAA Division I National title in 1996 and also had a hand in two Big East Championship teams.
2013 was new for Acquista and the Panthers, as it was the first year in NCAA Division II and the Northeast-10 Conference. The squad finished with an 11-7 mark and 9-4 conference mark to earn the fourth seed in the conference championship. The Brown and Gold defeated Le Moyne 3-0 in the opening round before falling to eventual national champion Southern New Hampshire 1-0 in the semifinals. Acquista’s group also had a successful year in the classroom with the honor of earning a NSCAA Team Academic Award as well as a NE-10 Team Academic Excellence Award. Furthermore, Jordan Hibbert (’15) was named one of 16 finalists for the 2014 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
Acquista’s coaching experience also includes stints as an assistant coach at Hofstra University and as a volunteer assistant at St. John’s, in addition to a posting as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Knights of the Premier Development League. Acquista also held coaching positions with the Storm Soccer Academy and as the director of coaching for the Brooklyn Knights. Before his collegiate career, Acquista attended Holy Cross High School where he was part of three straight CHSAA city championship teams (1993-95). Acquista earned a degree in sports management from St. John’s and also graduated from Adelphi with a master’s degree in sports management.
Over Acquista’s first five years at the helm, he oversaw the final Division I seasons for the team. In this time, the squad claimed two ASC Tournament titles in 2009 and 2010 while reaching the playoffs in all five years. Acquista was honored as the ASC Coach of the Year three times, in 2008, 2009 and 2011 while coaching over two dozen All-Conference players.
Acquista and his wife, Lauren, currently reside in Salisbury, N.Y.

Motamed Field In 2008, Adelphi University announced the naming of its athletic competition field, part of its new outdoor sports stadium, in recognition of the generous support and leadership of its Board of Trustees Chairman, Thomas F. Motamed, Class of 1971. Motamed Field was the site of the 2011 NCAA Division II and III women’s lacrosse championship. It also played host to the 2010, 2011, and 2014 Northeast-10 Women’s Lacrosse Championships and the 2011, 2012, and 2014 Northeast-10 Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
• Adjacent to the Motamed Field is a practice space. • The tennis courts are located just beyond this field and anchors the complex in one contiguous area. • All-weather surface material to allow for year-round practice and competition. • Four main light standards help illuminate the field for evening training and competition, as well as working media and game operations. The Outdoor Sports Complex features Motamed Field, which is the home for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.
• A heated/air-conditioned Press Box is located at the top of the stadium seats. Located midfield, the press box accommodates sports information, working media and game operations, which maintains the scoreboard and public address sound system. • The Panthers’ live in-game stats of soccer, lacrosse and field hockey events originates out of the press box. • Addition of a one-level parking structure for over 300 cars below the field.

McCabe After a nationwide search, Danny McCabe was appointed Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation at Adelphi in July 2013 by former Adelphi University President Dr. Robert A. Scott.
basketball NCAA East Regional Advisory Committee and also serves on the ECAC Board of Directors.
In his first two years at the helm of the athletics department, the Panthers continued to set a standard of excellence in the Northeast-10 Conference, winning the school’s second consecutive Presidents’ Cup in 2013-14 before finishing second in 2014-15. In that time, Adelphi claimed seven NE-10 Championships, sent 15 teams to NCAA Tournament play and claimed two NCAA National Championships in women’s lacrosse. In 2015, the softball team reached the Women’s College World Series for the first time as a Division II program, winning the NCAA Division II East 2 Regional on Janet L. Ficke Field before sweeping the Super Regional on the campus of top-seeded Southern New Hampshire. In the classroom, 12 student-athletes have been recognized as CoSida Capital One Academic All-District I Team honorees, including five Academic All-Americans from the men’s lacrosse (Nick Watson), women’s lacrosse (Devan Crimi, Alexa Froccaro), women’s soccer (Taylor Groth) and women’s basketball (Kelly Mannix) programs. Furthermore, seven teams earned the NE-10 Team Academic Excellence Awards in 2013-14, while the softball program posted the highest GPA across all three NCAA Divisions; the program followed that up as one of four Panther teams to win an Academic Excellence Award in 2014-15, recording the highest GPA in the history of the award. In addition to the success in competition and in the classroom, McCabe has been instrumental in expanding Adelphi’s corporate partners, bringing the sponsorships of TD Bank ®, the Whitmore Group, the Greene Turtle, and MetLife ® to the department. In 2015, MetLife Legacy Advisors became the title sponsor of Adelphi’s annual Fall Cocktail Reception, while MetroTeam Outfitters returned as Adelphi’s official gear sponsor and joined the roster of corporate partners as the title sponsor of the annual Ficke Golf Classic. The funds raised at these special events reached record levels, and membership in the Panther Club, the department’s major friendand-fundraising arm, also doubled in 2015 to nearly 800 members. McCabe has been instrumental in creating several new positions in the department, beginning with the addition of a varsity women’s golf program and the hiring of Keith Ferrara as the first full-time strength and conditioning coach. In addition, the department created a new strength and conditioning center inside the Center for Recreation and Sports which features all the amenities required for a first-class program. Finally, in 2015, McCabe was chosen to begin a three-year term on the men’s A D E L P H I

He also served as the chairman of the NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals Organizing Committee at Hofstra in 2009 and 2011. In addition, McCabe served as the program administrator for the men’s and women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, volleyball and the men’s soccer program and had oversight responsibilities for the sports medicine and strength and conditioning departments. Long Island There’s more than plenty to do on Long Island. Arts, culture, history, beaches, golf and shopping.
Central Suffolk, with beautiful forests and natural inlets, the world’s largest factory outlet center and a huge water park.
There are five distinctive regions in Long Island North Shore, otherwise known as the Gold Coast, with dozens of historic sites dating back to colonial days and Gatsby-era mansions .
North Fork, with an array of vineyards, waterfront ports and farm stands.
South Shore, the Island’s spectator sports and entertainment center, with world-famous Jones and Fire Island Beaches, and home to the New York Islanders.
South Fork, widely known as “The Hamptons,” with its pristine beaches and exclusive villages.
New York City It is impossible not to find something interesting to do and see in Manhattan. The most renowned of New York City’s five boroughs, Manhattan offers the best of everything—Broadway shows, concerts, sporting events, museums, shops, restaurants, parks, parades, cultural landmarks and one-of-akind neighborhoods. New York City is only 30 minutes from the Adelphi University Campus. On a trip to Manhattan, you could: • Head to Central Park to catch the finish of the New York City Marathon, or pack a picnic basket for lunch on the grass at Strawberry Fields; • Ring in the New Year by watching the famous ball drop in Times Square; • Catch a Tony Awardwinning show or late-night TV favorite David Letterman on Broadway; • See the Knicks take the court or the Rangers hit the ice at historic Madison Square Garden;
