The project reacts in various ways to the context. The Auditorium form is the consequence of the squares, views and tension it generates. One corner is aligned with the center of the ‘Circonvalazione’ in order to create a landmark. The angle formed by the auditorium and the perimeter of the area, in the ‘Casello’ side, enables the creation of the foyer. The external ramp generates the compact volumes underneath, which are subjected to subtractions to emphasize the double access from the park and from the street playing with shadows and light. The Bookshop on the Viale Crispi side closes the Multipurpose Hall volume and creates an access to the park. On the other side, the less noisy and chaotic one, the volume of the restaurant tries to establish a relation with Viale Pasubio, generating a square. Its compactness is accentuated by its materiality. The brass finishing is reflected in the glossy finishing of the building revealing the precious aspect of its interior. The system of circulation is based upon the concept of fluidity. Indeed, the building is generated by the ramp in its outside, debouching into the plaza on the roof of the auditorium. However, the roof gives a special view on the park and makes its process generation understandable.

The organization of the park underlines three main circulation paths within the area. An angular one provides a direct connection to the cultural centers through the arches of the wall, while another one leads around the Pavilions on the concrete platform. The last one is a continuation of the stone street pavement which penetrates into the area, creating a longitudinal stroke to the auditorium, with the possibility of going up to it or else continuing to the restaurant square. The Public space is interpreted in this area as a Milanese internal court, where intra cultural social relations take place. The Spanish Wall is the symbol of the city and its history. The Pertinence area of the twelve Cultural Centres fights against the adjacent ones and represents the different cultures trying to establish themselves in Milan. The result is a collision between the volumes that move the mesh topographically, generating different types of hybrid squares characterized by multi ethnicity and deep city roots. Flowers and tree species have been chosen to fit the goal of the public space, to create a confrontational relationship between the native population and the new communities. Accordingly, the tree species chosen are already present in the Milan area but are originally from foreign places that are well represented in the city.

The Theme of the French Pavilion that we chose is Multi-ethnicity. France is frequently cited as an exemplary reference for the integration of the foreign communities and their successive generations. Nevertheless some recent incidents have shown that part of the population do not feel they are part of a nation. The revolt of the French suburbs in 2007 is the best example. The building, through a perceptual walk and a footpath, reflects the desire to let people enter the complexity and contradiction of this topic. Hence, the representative faĂ§ades, on Viale Crispi and on the Public Space, are compact and pure whilst tension is created inside. Series of protruding volumes create a chaotic and complex internal space. These spaces are based on a rigid grid made of modules that counteract with the green system developed at ground level and at every terrace. The hair grass turfs are designed in an organic and continuous way on the different levels to evoke the hope of positive interaction rising from tension and putting down its roots in complexity.

The basement accommodates two different typologies of services: the cultural ones, in red, which break the boundaries of the allotment, whose access is situated exclusively at the first floor, so that services for the city dwellers and students are not only passers-by but also clearly visible in order to mark its difference with the other spaces. The court shelters four immediately identifiable pavilions that in addition to being a service for the students who can get together there to relax, also function as a meeting point for the city.

The project is designed in its relationship with the city in a double perspective. We feel an aspect of closure. It comes from the fact that the extension of the housing career of the new users is linked to some attachment to the site, in which lifestyle is more important than the dwelling itself. That is to say, we recognize a greater importance in the way of life as a student than in city living. The allotment, characterized by the university population, aims at becoming a precious element for the city, a strong and recognizable element with an attraction force due to the cultural services it offers to Bergamo. Culture becomes the principal element of interface between these two organisms, and its importance is figuratively projected at the exterior, breaking up the fence made by the wooden brise-soleil and coloring it in red.

Red Culture - Bergamo The corridor is a continuous street that is declined from time to time in squares with a public or private valence depending on its conformation. The flooring is designed to emphasize the aspect of the square that remains identical despite the different possibilities of configuration of the dwellings belonging to it.

The project strength is concentrated in the elastic management between the private and public spheres by means of intermediate flexible spaces that could become the former or the latter depending on the studentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision.

Masterplan, Hotel and Spa - Lodi Laboratorio di Progettazione III Prof. FilippoTartaglia AY: 2008-209 Students: AurĂŠlie Sabatier Anita Sala The external shape of the Hotel is the result of a strategic masterplan. Its three main features are the orizontal order imposed by the dynamics of the area, the vertical order made by layers with its specific functions and fluidity. The organization of the buildings in the area is determined by the attractive poles of the area thanks to a process of triangulation. The external shape illustrates the process. For more details, see www.aureliesabatier1a.1s.fr The hotel is highly characterized by its inner court representing the centrality of individual well-being, in which lifts and stairs are localized. The Hotel hosts a Spa in the underground level and a bar/restaurant, some salons and a conference hall at the entrance level. At the upper levels, the two typologies of rooms are collocated. In order to create more intimacy to the accessible court of the Spa, some ornamental Cherry trees will cover the underground level creating for the spa a grade of privacy and a profume and color in harmony with the wellness, while at the ground level it creates a visible â&#x20AC;&#x153;fieldâ&#x20AC;?. 2nd Floor _ Scale 1:250

The room is situated on the side of the building characterized by an attraction to the park and the city centre. Hence, this room is designed as a highly extroverted space that is looking for a contact between its own private world and the external one. It happens thanks to a kind of contamination: an extrusion underlined by the white color that counteracts with the saturated, varied colors of the rooms.

1*The entrance of the room is perpendicular to the corridor at the back. It will influence the spatial perception of the user, who will be forced to change directions to enter the room. 2*Then the furniture volume guides the user by means of a physical perception and permits a progressive discovery of the environment of the bed through a visual perception of the white color. The bed is protagonist. 3*From the bed, the individual, undistracted by the other colors, is led to look at the panorama, set in a frame.

This Room can be defined as inward-looking, since it denies the exterior perceived as negative in favour of an interior more customizable and manageable, as an individual oasis. The contact between the user own private world and the external one is refuted. The user is Protagonist. He can create his own World/Room as he likes, from the bed by means of the projector or by choosing the color of the room. The North-West and South-East facades of the hotel tell the clients’ stories or show their mood. The screen has a central position in the room and becomes the unique element of interaction with the exterior world controlled by the user thanks to new means of communication. The space is organized around this fundamental element, as all the components of the room are turned towards the screen. Also the structure of the entrance is influenced accordingly: it is excavated into the corridor to permit direct access in the room.

Finalist Project of Urbanpromo Giovani 2010 Contest exhibited at Fondazione Cini in Venice

The aim of the project is to find a possible solution to the unsolved question of the relationship between the city of Milan and the surrounding agricultural lands. The presence of the “South Agricultural Park”, Expo 2015 whose theme is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” and the numerous dismissed industrial areas inside the city led us to look for a bond between these elements through the economical and social instruments of the short distribution circuit, in order to tighten the relations between production site, selling point and consumption places. In the light of these observations, we based our project on the existing railway connections between the old places of industrial production and the stations to convert the former into sites of agricultural production and the latter into selling points. The Short circuit becomes sustainable through the use of railways, by reducing the environmental impact of transports, and thanks to aeroponic agriculture, by decreasing water and electricity consumption.

Secondly, at the city scale, from the planting of crops to the markets located near the various trains and transit stops in Milan. In this manner, production is directly distributed within the city without packaging, and transportation is done by train in order to respect the environment.

The site organization is done in two ways: First of all at a local level. From planting to restaurant in the farm. The farm is a place of public reception. The visitors can also visit the didactic building in order to learn and understand the operations of the aeroponic culture.

Aeroponic Culture:

It is more ecologically sustainable because of the following reasons: Fossil fuels for plowing, weeding, planting, harvesting are not needed Fertilizers and pesticides are eliminated Water is recycled Crops grow 24 hours per day, year-round More plants are cultivated per unit area, on different layers per floor

The design shows the reasons behind the new projection, as it looks for a proportional relationship between new and existing factors. ‘Recognized Urban Places’ is the reference for the new system considered as an ensemble of built, open and relational space.

Some elements of the previous system are selected to survive and confirmed by the new set-up of connected paths along the area. Open space is refined through a full scheme of pillared courses, signs and bright columns alternating with rows of pillars to host temporary display structures. The traces of the ex-Kabel Werk are reflected in the new courtyard and the spiral course, which are designed to emphasize the contour and marks left by the old building.

The subsequent use progressively leads the way to enjoying space, from the ‘Memory Square’ to the new multiple courts in the research area. The newly interpreted area of an existing shed follows down to the new front by the canal devoted to conference space, entertainment and hotel facilities. The relational cross, core of the industrial sheds system, is opened up and syncopated by the multiple repetition of commercial spaces, caskets suspended over the central ‘open air’ cross. The garden follows the rhythm of the shed scheme, sequencing green, greenhouses and exhibitions areas.

B-TRANS_Shanghai Urban-Rural Public Bicycle Transportation System Design

The project aims to seek the interdisciplinary and intercultural approach to design a sustainable transport system in the rural and urban context of China. It applies Human-Centered design willing to provide an alternative solution to fit the increasing awareness and demands of low carbon and sustainable ways of transportation beyond the automobile. The team includes students and mentors from different disciplines, such as product design, service design, urban planning, architecture, social sciences, mechanical engineering, electronic and communication engineering, etc. The project focuses on the mobility needs of both urban and rural residents, and explores how they could be better served by public bicycle renting services in a more sustainable, convenient and pleasant way. The outcome will be a proposal of a holistic, systemic and interdisciplinary solution led by strategic design, Product and Service System (PSS) design and the related Internet and Communications Technology (ICT). The key project partners include both international and Chinese companies, such as IDEO, Forever, TekTao and China Telecom.

Exhibited at “Young creators for better city & better life» in Shanghai

This restaurant is organized with tek boxes that can host some clients, creating much more privacy than at the table in the central space. These containers have been used as decoration for the bar and are repeated at different scales. Their background, made in Barisol, allows for a printed texture which characterizes the entire restaurant.

Kempinski Restaurant - Doha Internship at Peia Associati 2008/2009

The interiors of this tower, designed by AEB and completed in 2010, have been designed by the Peia Associati Studio. My task consisted, in an initial phase of the project, in working on 3D and rendering in order to control and go on with some architectonic choices. In the double high room, the architect wanted to propose a reinterpretation of the traditional elements in a contemporary way. The “majilis” should become the central element and assume importance thanks to the element above that almost floats and delimits the space dedicated to prayer. The stairs plays with references to towers and to ceramic dressing. The box of the staff space is made of printed glass with a “Mushrabiya” pattern. The architectonical project of the Triplex apartment was completed with research on the object of design: the modular library.

Cisal Stand - ISH Francfurt Internship at Peia Associati 2008/2009 During the internship, the studio asked me to realize the stand of Cisal, producer of bath taps, for the ISH Fair of Frankfurt. The designing process passed through some constrictions, such as the budget relatively limited and the structure of the fair pavilion which was in the internal surface of the stand. I had also to respect some rules set up by the organization as the handicap access to the stand. Finally, I had to understand the steps of assembly and plant design of the different components.

“Learning by doing” is the leitmotiv of our concept. “I eat it, I pick up seeds, I plant them and wait for them to grow”. A bag is offered to the visitor of Expo 2015 that includes an ulterior container in molded paper. During the visit, it is possible to buy some typical products sold in a food tray, which could be put in the bag. This one presents sections for drinks, food, flatware and on the sides, a diagrammatic map of the pavilions. After the meal, the identification flap of the origin place of the food is put aside and inserted, together with the seeds, in the holes present at the basis of the box which assumes the double function of tray and seed container. Once arrived at home, the visitor can reuse the external bag as a shopping bag which promotes the event and can bury the lunch box filled with seeds in the garden or in the flower box. As it is made with molded paper, the box will decompose fast, becoming humus. In this way, we were looking for a continuation of a day by day experience beyond the boundaries of Expo, aiming to create a personal and planetary vegetable garden.

ϴX - Sun 2010 Concorso 2010 The project ϴX consists in a simple checkered bench, for anybody who may want to sit and read a newspaper, or even lie down to sunbathe. And it is actually the sun that makes us enter into the recreational dimension of the object: playing with the chair backs and rotating the bench depending on the hours of the day, the squares will be filled by crosses and noughts, half palpable, half shadows. Two functions for a special tick-tack-toe.

> The project [EC’H2O] was born with a double will: 1) simplify a maximum the most fundamental act of care of an interior plant in a context of internal spaces, that is to say watering and 2) develop a little urban ecosystem in a sustainable way, particularly in terms of natural resource management. It is foreseen in the [EC’H2O] system that once the user decides, clean used water is directed to a storage container installed behind the sink to water aromatic plants. By integrating these plants into the system we exploit the ease of collecting water for watering. At the same time, we facilitate the use of these plants due to their proximity to the kitchen counter.

This water storage system for the aromatic plants is also equipped with an overflow discharging into a watering can for the other plants of the dwelling.
