aurelio MONGE
Born in Spain (1971) Aurelio Monge is a versatile and eclectic photographer. Influenced by a near-death experience, his subject is the human body but also sculpture, architecture and landscape as a window to the inner soul and the ephimeral nature of all things and life itself. Simple proposals whose theme revolves around concepts of life and death, body and soul, despair and calm, visible and invisible, nothingness and eternity. His portfolio is impregnated by his enthusiasm for art and history. An academic vision characterized by his interest in Greco-Roman culture and the Great Masters of Art. Obsessed by what the light can reveal he works the chiaroscuro in extreme conditions in an attempt to uncover what the darkness hides. In this sense Monge is always searching for coherence between light and shadow. In this field, Monge becomes minimalist and he releases himself from commitments formal perfectionism focusing on the message and thus linking the work with the meaning.
