Develop lifelong skills such as listening, self-confidence, reading, memorization, focus and concentration. Theatre education and acting classes teach empathy by encouraging young people to play characters. Characters often have different perspectives or come from different circumstances than the actor/student who portrays them. Theatre classes also teach spatial relationships through staging and stage movement. Memorization helps in all areas of academic development. Theatre also helps children and youth gain confidence in public speaking situations. Theatre is a cooperative, interdependent art form with members of the ensemble supporting and relying on each other.
