HAUNTED LANTERN TOUR AT CAVE OF THE WINDS
The haunting season is year-round as we explore by candlelight the mysterious and unimproved Manitou Grand Caverns on a 90-minute guided tour which includes nearly a mile of walking. Like the adventurers of the past, you will navigate dark narrow tunnels, low passageways, uneven stairs and rooms with muddy, original floors. Along the way, you will learn the history of Cave of the Winds as well as the frightening folklore, scary ghost stories and unexplained phenomena of the Manitou Grands! Note: this tour includes a 250-foot-long narrow passage that ranges from 42”-48” tall. Therefore, it is not recommended for guests with knee or back trouble or those who are easily frightened by ghost stories! Please be sure to wear closed-toe shoes (athletic shoes are highly recommended) and remember they will get dirty! Bring a light jacket as the cave temperature is a pleasant 54 degrees. Parent and Tot
Ages 6 months to 2 years
Level 1: An introduction class for parents and very young children, Parent and Tot 1 uses songs, games and toys to help your baby gain confidence, learn basic swim skills and develop safe habits around the water. Each child must be accompanied in the pool by a parent or guardian- 1 adult in the water per child. Swim diapers required.
Level 2: To qualify for level 2, child must be comfortable fully submerging underwater and be able to sit and stand independently. Parent and Tot 2 prepares very young swimmers to transition to independent swim lessons. Emphasis on adjusting to swimming with an instructor rather than a parent, following directions and increasing autonomy in their swim skills. Each child must be accompanied in the pool by a parent or guardian. Swim diapers required.
Guppy
Ages 3 to 5
Level 1: Guppy 1 introduces young children to independent swim lessons. Emphasis on working through separation anxiety, water adjustment, learning the rules of swim lessons and basic breath control. Parents will be asked to stay back from the pool edge. Swim diapers are required if child is not potty trained.
Level 2: To qualify for level 2, child must be reliable at holding the wall during lessons, comfortable fully submerging underwater and comfortable laying in a back-float position (with instructor support). Guppy 2 teaches basic water survival and self-rescue skills to young children. Emphasis on independent movement through the water, independent floating and intermediate breath control. Swim diapers are required if your child is not potty trained.
Aquatics
Level 3: To qualify for Guppy 3, child must pass the following swim test: Jump into deep water, recover to a back-float position, then swim or float five yards to the wall and climb out independently. If child is not able to pass this swim test on day one, they will not be able to continue at this level. Guppy 3 lays the technical foundation for basic stroke techniques. Emphasis on head/hip alignment and propulsive kick technique.
Level 4: By instructor recommendation only. Guppy 4 builds confidence and independence in basic stroke techniques for very strong young swimmers. Emphasis on head/hip alignment and simultaneous arm/leg action.
Stingray
Ages 6 to 9
Level 1: Introduces children to independent swim lessons. Emphasis on water adjustment, breath control, water safety and learning the rules of swim lessons.
Level 2: To qualify for Stingray 2, child must be reliable at holding the wall during lessons, comfortable submerging underwater, able to float independently on front and back and able to swim on back independently for 25 yards (flutter kick and elementary backstroke). Stingray 2 focuses on developing strong foundations for swim stroke technique, with emphasis on head/ hip alignment and effective kick techniques.
Level 3: To qualify for Stingray 3, child must be safe jumping into deep water, able to swim 25 yards of all four kick techniques, including whip kick, flutter kick, dolphin kick, scissor kick, and able to tread for one minute in deep water. Intermediate
Participants must be able to tread water for 1 minute, be comfortable putting face in the water and be able to swim one length (25 yards) of elementary backstroke independently. Adult intermediate classes build on the skills learned in the beginner class to introduce whole swim strokes. Emphasis on kick technique and gaining confidence working in deep water.
Advanced
Participants must be able to jump into deep water, resurface independently and swim to the wall, tread water for two minutes continuously and swim one length (25 yards) with sustained good kick technique in flutter kick, whip kick and dolphin kick. Adult advanced classes teach breaststroke and sidestroke in addition to building stamina in front crawl and backstroke. Emphasis is on building endurance and introducing turns, transitions and dives.
Stamina Training
Participants must be competent in the four competitive swim strokes. Get your swim workout in! This class focuses on building endurance and aerobic fitness for those with a strong swim background.

Discover the wonders of STEM in our engaging After-School Program this fall! Designed for young curious minds, our program offers hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and math through exciting activities and experiments. Join us as we unlock the mysteries of STEM and inspire a lifelong love of learning!
DIGITAL ARTS: COLLAGE AND ANIMATION PROGRAM
Participants will explore making art with the computer as one of our most exciting tools! Students will work individually and collaboratively. Our kids will focus on Photoshop, using it for collages and simple animation. Kids will use their own dreams as the storyline for Claymation and mixed media movies using iMovie software.

FUTURE SCIENTISTS
Our Future Scientist class will introduce students to innovative and exciting science experiments. We will discuss four different aspects of science throughout our hands-on course covering, Chemistry, Astronomy, Earth Science and Health. Students will create fun, interactive science experiments while improving their critical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

KIDS CODING
Our youth coding and programming class will teach students how to design and build computer games and other fun digital creations. Students will learn core coding concepts while improving their critical, creative thinking and problemsolving skills.

We Are Aurora Youth
WE ARE AURORA YOUTH - FALL BREAK
Ages 13 to 18
We Are Aurora Youth is a program designed to give youth who are Aurora residents a fun and safe place to hang out during school breaks. Youth can receive free entry to designated recreation centers on weekdays from noon to 7 p.m. Youth will be able to participate in staffled opportunities such as basketball, volleyball, gym games, cooking classes and gift card competitions.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MAYHEM
Ages 11 to 14
Calling all middle school students to join us for a night of first Friday fun at the rec center! The night will start with pizza for all, followed by the opportunity for youth to choose from a variety of fun activities including swimming, games in the gym, virtual reality headsets, crafts, competitions for prizes and more. This program is a great opportunity for your tweens to have some independence and hang out with friends, while still being supervised by staff. Don’t miss the chance to kick off the month right with this night of mayhem!
