from the director Dear Participant, Many of us see the start of a New Year as an opportunity to set new goals and make life improving resolutions. If you are one of them, you’ll be glad to hear that Beck Recreation Center can help with day one - January 1 that is. Beck will open their doors with free admission from noon to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Day for anyone who wants to ring in 2014 with a heart-pumping work out. See page 6 for more on Beck’s holiday hours. In PROS we will be making life improving changes too. The Highline Sports/Registration Office at 6 Abilene Street will be relocated about a mile east to the Aurora Municipal Center campus in spring of 2014. We view this move as a life improvement for you, our customer. With this move, you will have all PROS services, like registering for a class or reserving a park shelter, consolidated into a single convenient, logical location. More on this move will be shared in the Spring edition. For now, we look forward to another year of providing you with prompt, accurate and courteous service. And that’s a goal we plan to keep. In good health,

Tom Barrett, Director Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS) The Quality of Life Department

Keep the Fun in Sports “Fun” is the overwhelming reason for playing sports & lack of fun is the leading cause of dropping out! Our goal is to get kids excited about participating for the pure enjoyment of playing & performing. If kids find their youth sports experience fun, they are more likely to continue playing well beyond their teenage years.
