The location. Adelaide Hills & surrounds Only recently, Adelaide was voted one of the world’s nine Great Wine Capitals and we are located right at the gateway to these five world-famous wine regions (Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Eden Valley). Wine tasting is a definite must as well as pure joy while you are visiting us. Often the Adelaide Hills area is referred to as South Australia’s food bowl and is proposed to be the next UNESCO world heritage site. It is the beautiful landscape that draws you in with its picturesque towns, myriad scenic drives, and peaceful atmosphere. Together with its world-famous wines, cheeses, and countless other artisan delights, the Adelaide Hills will capture your heart and soul. Being originally from America, I visited the Adelaide Hills 10 years ago and never left! After travelling Australia I was excited about the opportunity to settle here, a part of the world that holds so much of what I love: nature, wine and some of the world’s best produce. The Lane Vineyard The Lane offers the whole package: amazing wine, one of the best lunch spots in the hills (outside Hardy’s Verandah of course) and unbeatable views on a terrace setting. A great spot to visit only 5 minutes from Hahndorf village.

Ashton Hills Winery & Cellar Dor Long regarded as the benchmark for Pinot Noir and some of the Adelaide Hill’s best wines and stunning views of the Piccadilly Valley. Ashton Hill’s is one of the original vineyards to produce fine wines along with Petaluma and Shaw & Smith.

Howard Vineyard & Clover Restaurant Wine maker Tom Northcott makes our Summit Sparkling wine and you could not find a friendlier guy in the Adelaide Hills. Howard Vineyard’s stone barn Cellar Door is located on the site of Amos Howard’s original 1890’s farm.

Bird in Hand Winery & Restaurant With the best gardens and one of the best views of any cellar door in the hills, this cellar door offers tutored tastings and wines you can’t drink anywhere else, including late releases and carefully cellared museum selections. They have a great restaurant and art gallery to peruse and enjoy as well as beautiful grounds to stroll through after your tastings.

Deviation Road Winery Located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills near Stirling, the Deviation Road experience combines a spectacular garden setting surrounded by vineyard and heritage listed bush land with a sophisticated wine and regional platters menu. Kate Laurie produces some of the best sparkling wine in the country here so a must for any sparkling fan!

Shaw + Smith Shaw + Smith was established in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw who pioneered fine wines in the Adelaide Hills along with Petaluma & Ashton Hills Wineries. These guys set the benchmark for premium wine in the hills over the past thirty years and are a must visit.

Penfold Magill Estate Cellar Door Magill Estate is the traditional home of Australia’s original icon wine - Penfolds Grange. Enjoy cellar tours which feature the recently re-developed Drives (tunnels) that showcase the original resting spot of Max Schubert’s ‘hidden’ Grange. The estate located just 8kms from Adelaide CBD in the sheltered haunches of the Mounty Lofty Ranges, making it one of the world’s few urban single vineyards.

Tapanappa The Tiers Vineyard Brian Croser planted the Tiers Vineyard in 1979, the first vineyard planted in the Adelaide Hills region in the 20th century as part of Petaluma, and home of the renowned Tiers Chardonnay. When Brian sold Petaluma he retained the best chardonnay block which can be found just around the corner in the beautiful Piccadilly Valley.

Historical Hahndorf Being known Australia wide as the oldest German settlement on the continent, Hahndorf has so much more to offer that cute German heritage shops, steins and sausages. The tree-lined main street invites to stroll along, peeking into small artistic shops, local artisan and cellar doors and lots of cafes and restaurants. Germans will tell you that it looks and feels nothing like Germany but everyone adores this delightful little town.

Woodside Cheese Kris Lloyd has won some impressive awards nationally and internationally: she regularly claims gold and silver during the World Cheese Awards and different Australian Food and Dairy Awards with her craft cheeses. And you don’t need to be a cheese aficionado (although you’ll love it here even more) to appreciate the absolutely incredible, delicious and unique organic cow’s and goat’s milk creations of Woodside Cheese. An absolute must!
