President’s Foreword

Welcome to another brilliant Year Book! Well, it’s been a year of high drama in the cartooning stakes with controversy and chaos. Politically we’ve changed leaders again ten minutes after finally learning to draw the last one and US politics have continued to provide no end of cartooning inspiration. As far as reflecting on politics both here and abroad, we are truly living in a cartooning golden age. And this flows on into other aspects of cartooning of course, from caricature to comic strips, to single gags and comics and animation. Nearly every discipline has a take on our world today and that’s what’s going to make it another tough decision trying to decide who to vote for this year! With so much excellence on show, culminating with the Gold Stanley for Cartoonist Of The Year (see below), it’s no wonder it’s actually one of the most difficult tasks I have each year as a member. Don’t forget to get your votes in! If you’ve ever had the good fortune to have won a Stanley it is your obligation to vote. And if you’ve not yet won a Stanley, you should vote too. So don’t delay, do it now while you flick through the book and get it into the post pronto! That’s all from me for this year’s Year Book. I’ll be putting my money where my mouth is and voting right now. Make sure you don’t miss Canberra on the weekend of 16-18 November to see who got the most votes and will take home a Stanley!
